My New Baby Brother

Guess what? I got a new baby brother yesterday! This is the strangest story you'll ever hear(well, maybe not!)

Mom and my hooman sister went dress shopping on Friday. Missy is getting married in June and they were shopping for a mother-of-the bride dress. Missy asked mom if she minded if they sashayed into the pet store to see the puppies and of course mom said no. Well, mom's great mood turned real sour when she saw a 4 month old Airedale puppy in a crate. It ruined the rest of her day. She came home and told dad all about this baby. Dad asked his sex and mom didn't even know! All she said was that he was so cute and she felt so bad. So mom and dad went back and forth about should we/shouldn't we rescue him and mom finally said no - I'm perfectly happy with one dog!
Well, Sunday afternoon mom and I were out in the workshop visiting with our good friends Phil and Amy and in walks dad with the puppy! By the look on mom's face, you knew she was in total shock! Me too!
My new little brother's name is Mitch! And I can totally understand why Sunshade acted the way she did when Stinky/Jaffa came to live with her. I feel the exact same way! I can't stand being in the same room with him. He touches all of my toys and he was even in MY crate! Dad took him out to the workshop and he stole my bone! I keep waiting for the evil person who dropped him off to please come and pick him up. He's not needed or wanted here!

Mom and dad both think he's really cute and I can't understand why? Can you see those big feet?! He's totally out of proportion! I've never seen such monster feet on a puppy!

Dad tied him to a workbench leg after awhile because the little stinker just wouldn't leave me alone! All he does is chase me and nip me with those razor sharp teeth! Yeowwwww!

He did start barking and putting up a big fuss and mom encouraged me to go see what he wants. I decided maybe mom was right - now was the right time to have a conversation with the little pain and tell him who was boss around here!

I'm not sure the conversation went that well. When we left the workshop to go inside he was still biting at my ankles! I guess we may need to have this conversation again real soon!

So that's my weekend news! It's not exactly the weekend plans that I had in mind! Mom keeps telling me that Mitch is here to stay. I sure hope mom is wrong!

Until next time.............

Love ya lots,

Maggie

  1. Oh, that's so exciting! Think of all the nice things you can teach him and you'll have company when your mom and dad have to go out and you'll have someone to hang out with and play with and go on walkies with!!! I love, love, LOVE having brothers and a sister! You'll love Mitch, too! REALLY!

  3. Hey Maggie!
This is such exciting news! I know it's hard at first (Twix HATED me) but soon you'll come to love him, I'm sure. He'll probably be a great playmate for you! And how nice of your daddy to rescue him from the pet store. Mommy says her heart breaks for those poor babies crammed into tiny cages. He is sooooo cute!
Guess what mommy forgot? We mailed out your treats today (along with a little extra treat shaped like the mailman that will probably be broken by the time you get it!) but she forgot to put the nice letter she wrote in the envelope! Can you believe it? She even rubbed the letter all over me so you could smell me - I didn't like being rubbed by a piece of paper. Sorry Maggie! Enjoy the treats, though.

  4. ooooh he is cute, but I know exactly how you feel, I was the same when Puppy Dalmation came to lodge with us. I was glad to see the back of the Spotty Boy!

But that is such a sad story Maggie, and I am sure if you give it time, he will grow on you.

Your Mama and Papa must make sure they make a real good fuss of you - Jeannie says how cruel is that to have Puppies in the Store, it is not allowed here in the UK, our pet stores only sell goldfish, Hamsters (ooooh sorry Fu Fu!) they are not so nice as Fu Fu! and rabbits etc. No cats or puppies are allowed to be sold.

Take care and I hope it all gets easier for you soon!

Hey check out Simba's Blog, my Dad visited him today when he was on a business trip down in England! The links are on my blog, my Dad is the handsome human in the pictures and Simba is the Royal Presence!

I love Simba, he makes us laugh so much! love and sympathetic links, Marv xxxx

  8. Oh Maggie, I can understand it must have been a shock to have Mitch turn up, but I'm sure he'll calm down soon. I was his age when I came to live with mum & dad & was a little wild after being passed back & forth. TRy to be patient & I'm sure he'll soon be the best little companion ever!

  9. Ohhhhh Maggie..... I know exactly how you are feeling right now... I think you should send your dad to the SPCA. I tried sending mum there when she first brought STINKY home, but SPCA wouldn't take her. HMMMPH!

You know, I gotta tell you that it does get better, you will get use to him, and I'm sure you are way more patient than I am. Just make sure you keep him in order.

STINKY is SOOOO out of proportion tooooo with his HUGE feet, what's wrong with these Stinkies??

    Love nibbles,
    Miss Sunshade

  10. Oh Maggie, you are a lucky girl! I know it doesn't feel that way right now, but I am sure you will come to love the little guy. He is such a cutie.

My mom and dad almost brought me home a sister yesterday from Petsmart. They were visiting the rescue doggies and just loooved this sweet, gentle little black lab named Abby. Too bad Mom's in grad school right now and they can't afford another dog or I'd have a new sister to play with! Oh how I'd love that! I'll have to live vicariously through you and Mitch.

  14. I'm so sorry to have to say this Maggie, but Mitch is soooooo cute! Pretty soon, you'll be as madly in love with him as everyone else. Thankfully for grown up doggies like you and Sophie, the annoying puppies eventually grow up to be loads of fun.

  16. (Bow) wow Maggie,

I can't imagine having to share anything with anydoog who'd come to live with us.

    Just sayin'.

You're probably nicer than I am, so Mitch is very lucky to have a lovely big sis like you.

And isn't your dad cool to go and rescue him after hearing your Mom...

  18. Ohmygosh Maggie, I'm soooooooooooo excited for you!!!!!!! Mitch is ADORABLE (don't worry, I had giant paws like that too when I was a little one and I grew up pretty darned handsome). I think it's a golden opportunity honestly, you can train him to do your bidding and accept blame for things that you do... he's the perfect fuzzy little scapegoat!

Honestly tho, tell your mom and dad that I'm soooooooo happy for all of you and a big welcome lick to Mitch!!!!!

    Love,
    Bogart

  21. This is like one of the most exciting news. YOU GOT A BROTHER!!! That's so cool. Is Mitch going to have his blog soon?

    On a side note:
Err, are you sure that is not Stinky? Maybe Sunshade has managed to post him over.

  22. Maggie, I'll trade you that crazy looking puppy (my Mom says he's adorable...Bahhh) for Olive the crazy Maine Coon cat. They look about the same size so no one will notice. I have Mommy's plastic card she hands to people and they give her stuff, so I can buy some airplanes, it will be fast and they won't notice till it's too late. Good Plan!

  25. Oh my goodness! My mama never goes into pet shops and that's why, because she knows she'll leave with EVERYONE! It is awful that people sell puppies in petshops. Just awful. But your little brother is very cute. Give him a lick from me...I hear I'll be getting one of those soon myself!
