Another Trip to the Glenwood and Some Disturbing News

Dad suggested last night that he and mom have dindin at the Glenwood! Mom was only too happy to go along with that idea! It gives her a break from cooking and she knows that we get to go along too, so it's a family outing and everyone is happy!

Yesterday wasn't a bad day weatherwise. It was high in the low 40's so we didn't freeze while we had our picnic in the truck!

Mom had her usual cheeseburger. She says they are the BEST at the Glenwood! She loves that charcoal taste! yummm So do we, but mom was being stingy and we didn't even get a sniff! She did share her French fries though and that made us really happy!

Dad had a BLT and onion rings! And he did sneak us each a tiny piece of an onion ring before mom yelled, "no onions!" Mom is just no fun sometimes!

No ice cream this trip and that was okay! Dad has some at home in the freezer and he is pretty generous about sharing it with us quite a few nights a week!

But then our fun night turned sour. We came home and mom told us that she would be flying to Florida soon to visit my gram and gramp! Like real soon - like next week even!

Oh no! This is not happy news at all! Who will supervise all the tiffs that occur here daily? Will dad yell at Mitch to "please leave Maggie alone"?

I'm really bummed about this! I sure wish I could go too! Please can't AireRuby fly us to Florida and I could come too, mom? I promise I'll be no problem at all!

Mitch isn't sure how to take the news! He's never spent a night without mom! Dad has left him before to go on mini-vacations but mom has always been here and has never left him!

I explained to Mitch that it'll be okay - it'll just be different. You'll probably have to get used to a slightly new routine! Dad doesn't get up at 4AM like mom does but hopefully breakie will still be at 6AM!

Mitch got really quiet and depressed when he heard that the foood situation might change! Mitch sure does love his meals! He lives to eat! He's a growing boy!

Cheer up, Mitch! We can't make mom feel bad! She needs to check on gram and gramp too, ya know!

Dad has promised to make it fun for us here while mom is gone! He said we'll do the Glenwood again and maybe we can do ice cream at Wentworths! Won't that be fun?!

I'm not sure Mitch is buying it! I think it's going to take him awhile longer to accept the fact that mom will be gone for 6 whole days!

But, Mitch - we still have the celebration of life pawty to look forward too! By the way, some of you have asked what the celebration of life pawty is all about. When dad was sick before he had his heart transplant, our friends came out of the woodwork to help us out! They supported us through thick and thin, so after dad's transplant, mom and dad wanted to do something to say thank you to everyone who helped us out and that's how this pawty came to be! Everyone had such a good time the first year and now mom and dad have turned it into an annual event! This will be celebration of life pawty #4!

And we have the SuperBowl to look forward to! We can't forget that! We'll be having lots of good stuff to eat that day! So cheer up for now, okay?! We'll get through it! We will, Mitch!

So until next time.................

Love ya lots,

Maggie

  9. Maggsie & Mitch!

You guys have a lot going on this weekend then all of a sudden, BOOM! Your mama's going to be in Florida. I know it's tough to imagine, but you WILL make it, Mitch. Maggie will be sure to show you the ropes, and think of the reunion you will have with your mama when she comes home!!

Your dad will do a great job, and sometimes, you get to eat all kinds of great stuff when dad's are in charge. And, sometimes they let you do things that mamas won't because they don't know the routine. So, Mitch, just WORK IT, buddy!

My hoogirl says she almost can't bear to see you looking so sad, Mitchy. She & Stella & I are all sending you goober smooches so you feel better.

    Goober love,
    Stanley

  13. What a great idea for a pawty that your people have.

Sorry to hear your mom is taking a trip. Our girl abandons us all the time. So we don't worry, she doesn't tell us in advance. She just sneaks away while we are pooping.

At least you and your Dad will take great care of him Maggie.

Hope your mum has a safe flight and enjoy the celebration of life party - it sounds awesome!

  19. Hmmm.. look at it the other way, it's 6 whole days of freedom!! Maybe you can even organise a huge pawty and we can clean up the mess before the adults come home!
    HAPPY WEEKEND!

  20. Yeah, things will be different without Mom. You'll have to cross your legs in the AM while you wait for Dad to wake up. Good news is that all Dad's like to give their doggies foodies that evil Mom's say are "bad for us."

Maggie - You might need a diet by the time Mom gets home.

  22. You poor, poor doggies! Our mom left us once for 3 weeks! Three WEEKS! Dad had to call her and let her talk to us on the phone so we would behave. I, Poppy slept in the hallway to the garage so I would make sure to be there when Mom finally came home. We had a really great reunion when she got here! We hope she's never gone THAT long again.
The celebration of life pawty is a great thing! It's really nice of your parents to do that to thank all the people who helped them.

    Aire-hugs,

  23. You'll be right Mitch. Don't worry, the food always comes. Our pinky B (the dad) does the food thing really well so your dad might be good at it too.

Hey guys, don't worry about mom leaving - she wouldn't be going if she didn't totally trust your dad to take care of you.
Besides, think of all the guilt presents she will give you when she gets home - WooHoo!!!

My Mom is leaving me for the weekend...She is leaving me with Dad...I love my Daddy, but I am a Mommy's boy...Who is going to wake me up to cuddle in the morning and rub the perfect spot on my ear? Who is going to cook my oatmeal for me? Who is going to take me on my walkies and not care if I want to sniff the same spot three times? I will miss her...I completely understand...

  32. Mitch and Maggie...do not worry. Dads can do OK, not as good a you mom, but OK. For example, my Dad does not cook, but when Muzzer is gone, we get more space on the BigBed and better stories read. Last time, we read something called Republican Citizenship. We were asleep in seconds!

  36. I feel your pain guys.. whenever Mom goes away, even for one night, it's all different 'cause Dennis just doesn't take the care of us like Mom does. He might give us more food (who cares if the older girls need to be on diets?) but then he doesn't hang around with us and let us outside when we need to go. Moms always know what's best!

  37. Maggie and Mitch, I don't like it when my mom is away either. It is just different without mom. The scarest thing is both my mom and dad will be on 3-week vacation at the end of this month. Both of them! I remember when they were on vacation last year, it wasn't fun.
