Another Sleeping Giant Trip

We hiked the Giant again yesterday! We've been having a lot of wet weather lately so to be able to go for a long hike was a good thing! This is the absolute very first thing I did as soon as we arrived!

This set of steps is the first thing you come to just as you're hitting the walking path that leads up to the castle. We decided not to climb them because we figured they might be slick from all the rain and the hoomans didn't want to fall on their faces!

We met this Lab puppy not too long into the hike! He's SUPPOSED to be on a leash! I guess he can't read the sign! Sorry the picture is blurry. Mitch was trying to say hi and I was lunging at him as he raced past us!

This is the next thing that happened! What can I say? The Lab scared it out of me??!! hehehehe

We had a drink half way up! How convenient!

We're at the top and Mitch is looking for something edible! Quinnipiac University is at the base of Sleeping Giant and lots of students hike up here and bring snacks. You never know what kind of goodies you'll find if you keep your nose to the ground!

I know you're not going to belive this! I had to go again! It's all the good smells, I guess! Mom was beginning to wonder what my problem was!

This is the community water dish at the base of the mountain. Mom always brings the cooler in the truck for us but today she wanted to see if I'd drink out of this dish! Are you nuts? I'm a Princess! This cooty water will never pass my lips! I wonder how many dummies drank out of this bowl before we got here?! Well, Mitch did! haha

This is one of the signs near the watering hole - the one that says you need to be on a leash, Mr. Lab! Do you think maybe we could be jealous?!

This is a map of all the different trails that you can take. You can explore the Giant's head, chest, tummy, knees - there are trails everwhere!

What a great hike we had! Dad says we're coming back next week! yahoooooooooooo

So until next time...............

Love ya lots,

Another Meme Tag

My new pal, Sami tagged me to answer some really cool questions! Just me - not Mitch! Thanks Sami!

Here are the rules. You need to name the doggie that tagged you, then answer the questions, and then tag 3 - 4 other doggies. Then remember to leave your tagged doggies a note so they know to play along. Here goes.!

1) What was I doing 10 years ago? I wasn't quite born yet! I'll be 10 in July!

2) What are the five things on my to do list today? Eat oonies, go for walkies, make sure mom doesn't forget our patriotic bandanas for walkies, beg dad to take mom, Mitch and me for ice cream, bark at everybody who drives in our driveway.

3) Snacks I enjoy. Cheese, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, french fries, ice cream.

4) Things I would do if I were a billionaire. Make mom and dad rich so they can buy a house on Nantucket so we can visit the beach all the time, buy an ice cream shop, buy a pizza restaurant.

5) Three of my bad habits. Barking non-stop at the mailman, attacking the window and door to try to kill the UPS man, barking just to hear myself bark! I'm a very vocal girl, ya know!

6) Five places I have lived. With my breeder and with mom and dad.

7) Five jobs I have had. Warden, taste tester, ADT security, big sister, good listener.

I'm not sure who has played and who hasn't so if you want to play, consider yourself tagged!

Someone on our yahoo Airedale list posted this link. This video is fabulous but we have you warn you that you'll need lots of tissues!

So until next time.......................

Wheelie Wednesday - The Garden

Hi everybody - it's me, Autumn!

There are all kinds of things happening in the garden! Spring is such a pretty time of year for all kinds of flowers to be blooming and all kinds of critters to be out and about! The weeds are growing like crazy! I need to grab a shovel and rake and make this garden presentable! We sure can't have any tea pawties in the garden with it looking like this!
The calendula's are blooming already! I sure do love orange! It's my very favorite color!
ohhhhhhhh - a kitty! I see you're right next to the catnip! I hope you haven't been overdoing it!
This plant is called Lady's Mantle. Water droplets bead up on it and early in the morning it's just beautiful!
This orange flower is called a Gerbera Daisy. Mom got this plant and the pretty pink one just like it from Melissa on mother's day!
This pretty purple stuff is called Ajuga. Mom is nutty about purple and orange color combination! She says that's what happens when you get old!

This orange flower is a perennial Poppy! Mom really loves it because it self-sows all over the garden! Why is that strange woman staring at me? Does she not like my gardening hat?!

Gardening is hard work and I came inside for a breather and a nice tall glass of iced tea! Who are you? Shouldn't you be outside with the other chippers? You'd better not let Mitch and Maggie catch you in here!

Check out my new garden bandana! Mom made it for me! Isn't it so cool with the little carrots on it?!

I think the garden looks presentable for a tea pawty, don't you?!

See you all next Wednesday!

Pearly Pearl's Skating Pawty

Today Opal is throwing her sissy a skating pawty! Isn't the invitation just too cute?!

We understand that this pawty is for anybody on wheels - not just wheelies so Mitch and I are going to take turns pulling each other around in this wagon!

I'll ride first and you pull me and then we'll swap places when you get tired of pulling, okay, Mitch? If we want to go to this pawty, we need to have wheels! You got a better idea?

Autumn and Guinness planned on attending this pawty together awhile back and when they were getting ready to leave, there was a lot of tears because the twins had been staying overnight and they wanted to go too - so did Kyle and Whiskers! We Airedales truly believe in "the more the merrier" so Guinness gave one of the twinsies a piggy back and jumped on his horsie with Autumn's pull ribbon in his hand! Autumn told Kyle to jump on her back and then Whiskers jumped on Kyle's back! The other twinsie has a fear of heights and didn't want to be way up on top so he jumped on Autumn's pumpkin platform and hitched a ride underneath her!

We're ready, Ruby! We've all got our wheels and we're ready to celebrate with Opal and Pearl and all of our other buddies! What a blast this is going to be!

See you all at the pawty!

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch and the Wheelies

Our Japanese Names

Willow the Black Airedale tagged us to play this Japanese name game.

Spell out your name using the given Japanese letter-translation below.

A - ka, B - tu, C - mi, D -te, E - ku, F - lu, G - ji, H - ri, I - ki, J - zu, K - me, L - ta, M - rin, N - to, O - mo, P - no, Q - ke, R - shi, S - ari, T - chi, U - do, V - ru, W - mei, X - na, Y - fu, Z - zi.

My name would be Rinkajijikiku! What a mouthful!
Mitch would be Rinkichimiri! A little bit easier to pronounce!

Wow! Rinka and Rinki! This might get a little bit confusing when mom calls us!

We got a package in the mail yesterday! Mitch and I are thinking that we may want to re-wrap this and send it back where it came from!

Neither one of us is crazy about getting our toenails touched so we'll have to let you know how we love or hate this new idea that mom thinks could be the greatest!

So until next time................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

BLT's and Ice Cream

Mom and dad had the absolute PERFECT dindin last night! Bacon, lettuce and tomatoe sandwiches and ice cream!!! Ourwhole kitchen smelled like bacon and Mitch and I were going NUTS!!!

We couldn't wait for mom to treat us to a sample! We think bacon is one of the best inventions on the face of this earth!

Bring it on, mom! I can't wait!

Mom got splattered with hot bacon grease a couple of times while she was flipping pieces in the frying pan and she kinda did a mini cat shriek and Mitch took off to the corner behind the door to look for mice! This is an inside joke at our house!

When Mitch first came to live with us we were all watching TV in our family room one night and all of a sudden mom let out with a cat shriek! Mitch mosied over to see what the problem was! A mouse had run underneath the sofa that mom was sitting on and she had witnessed the whole thing! Mom isn't a big mousie fan AT ALL! She can't stand the evil little creatures! We didn't realize it till mom gave a second cat shriek 2 minutes later that the mouse had left his hide-out and was scurrying across the floor and headed for the hallway and that's when all hell broke loose! Mitch was on the mouse case at an early age and dove into the corner to save the day! He actually caught the mousie and was a hero! He didn't hurt the mousie - he just got him all wet with slimey slobber! Now when mom shrieks about ANYTHING, he thinks a mouse is on the loose and needs to be caught so he dives to the first available corner to see if this is where the little bugger is hiding!

Mom sorta has to tell Mitch it's okay and explain the situation to him so he backs off! It's really pretty funny to watch!

Here comes the lettuce, Maggie! I wonder if we'll get to taste any of this sandwich between two pieces of toast?!

Mom and dad were both stingy with their sandwiches but after dindin we did take a ride up to Durham and we stopped at our favorite ice cream spot!

Dad had rum raisin and mom had vanilla! We brought our pretty purple spoon just in case! You're gonna share, right?!

I think we did pretty good for ourselves yesterday, don't you?!

So until next time...........

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

Wheelie Wednesday - Babysitting

Hi everybody! It's me, Autumn!
I'm babysitting today! My girlfriend, Millie had a vet appointment and she asked if I'd watch her adorable twins for her. Of course! I love pups!

Millie dropped the twins off around 10AM and I decided that today was just too gorgeous to waste staying inside so we're starting the day off right with a morning walkie! I just need to grab the binkie and we're off!

It sure does feel good getting some sun on my back and I know the pups are enjoying it too! I'm not hearing a peep out of them!

I knew as soon as we got back they'd both be starved so I put their bibs on and fed them one at a time! They're really such good pups and I didn't even have a mess to clean up!

Before naptime we decided that a small piggyback ride would be in order! Hey, you guys are heavy! Hang on tight!

We piggybacked right into the bedroom for a nap! My little friend, Whiskers, came over and wanted to hang out with us so we pulled out the trundle for her and she read a nice story to all of us.

After a nice long nap the twins woke up and wanted a snack. We decided on popcorn with another story!

I have to tell you, babysitting is hard work! You very rarely get a moment's peace to yourself! I'm sure glad that I'm still a single girl living the good life! I think I'll stay that way for a while longer!

See you next Wednesday!

Putter & Willow's Birthday Pawty in Australia

Our Airedale friends, Putter and Willow are both turning 4 today and they're celebrating their special day in Australia! This is our first trip to Aussieland and we can't wait!

Willow tells us that we're going to be climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge~

Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Look how HUGE it is!
And we'll be visiting Ayres Rock~

What an incredible rock! Do we need special boots to climb this rock, Willow?

We're visiting the Olgas~

They sure have lots of rocks in Australia! What an incredible country!

And we're supposed to see the Great Barrier reefs too!

I'm not too keen on water sports so I'm going to sit this one out! You can tell me all about the sights 1200 feet below, Mitch!

This is going to be one awesome pawty! We'll be flying AireRuby and from what mom tells us, this is a long trip on the plane so we'll be bringing lots of kangaroo snackies on the trip to share!
I think I hear AireRuby!

See you all in Australia!

Happy birthday, Putter and Willow! We can't wait to get there!

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch
