Wheelie Wednesday - The Airedale Christmas Tree

Hi everybody! It's me, Autumn! Now don't laugh - our little Christmas tree in the kitchen is up!
Actually it was up before Halloween! shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, don't tell anyone because they'll all think that my mom is NUTS!!! Mom loves her Airedale tree and she can't wait to decorate it every year and enjoy all of her Airedale ornaments!

She made just about all of the wooden ornaments on the tree from all of dad's scrap wood!

Can you see the little pewter bones? They have Mitch and Maggie's names on them! They were a Christmas gift from our goodest and bestest friend, Putter last year! Can you see the M&M candy wrappers? Don't worry - they're empty just in case they fall on the floor! Mom thought it might be fun to put those on there too!
This wooden Airedale head is the only wooden ornament on the tree that mom didn't make. It's called intarsia and this is still something that mom wants to learn to do. Dad even bought her the fancy jigsaw to do it with but she just hasn't had the time yet! Mom did make the felt ornie. It's just plain old felt cut into shapes and it's buttonhole stitched on! It's simple and very inexpensive to make and they make great gifts. All of your moms can make these while watching TV!
The whitish grey beads are called Job's Tears. Mom grew the plant one year and strung all of the beads and decided that it might look good on our small Christmas tree so that's what we did with them!

There are a couple of snowmen ornies on the tree too! They're simple to make and lots of fun! So who else out there has their Christmas tree up? You can tell me! I promise I won't tell!

See you all next Wednesday!

Love, Autumn

  1. WOW, You gots a christmas tree up already. The Mommy never put one up becuase the boys always knocked it down wherever she put it even if it was up high. Last year she had her surgery and had to give my brothers up so Aunt Pam & Uncle Sonny bought us a little bittle tree and it is very nice but NO, no tree until after Turkey Day.

  5. we love your Christmas tree! What a great idea - but your mom is very creative, we love to see what she does, but know most of them are beyond Muzzer's talents. But maybe the felt snowmen? She can surely figure that one out, right?

    Thanks for the idea

  12. With a tree like that, I'd have it up all year round! We usually decorate for Christmas early, and the tree is usually up before Thanksgiving.

  13. "All of your moms can make these while watching TV!" Oh how I laughed Autumn. Such naive confidence, how little you know about my skills. I love the idea of an Airedale tree though, my feather tree might be getting a new look in a few years!
