Helping Mom Make Lazanne

I helped make lazanne for our company! Mom says that I'm a very good helper in the kitchen!

You take a large bowl and mix together one pound of ricotta and 2 eggs and a little bit of salt and pepper and a couple of shakes of parsley and a couple of spoonfuls of parmesan cheese!

Then you slice mozzerella cheese so it's ready and waiting for the lazanne layers!Mom has been using the oven-ready noodles because dad really likes them - he thinks it tastes more old fashioned - but you don't have to, you can use the old-style noodle that you have to boil first!
I always get to sample the mozzerella - just to make sure it's fresh and yummy! We used a 9" X 13" pyrex dish. You start with a layer of tomato sauce, add a layer of noodles, then you heap the ricotta mixture on top of the noodles and then add sliced mozzerella!
Now you start the layers all over again - sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture and mozzerella!
When you are all done layering you add sauce to finish it off and then a sprinkling of parmesan cheese! This is how it looks before it goes into a 325 degree oven and bakes for about 45-60 minutes, depending on if your sauce is ice cold from the frig or if you have just made it and you're using it hot from the saucepan!

Mom covers her lazanne with tin foil for about half of the baking time and then takes the foil off for the remainder of the baking time.

We added a sliced meatball and a sausage on the side for the meat lovers in the group!

We'll be making a nice salad next! This is the best part because I get lots of handouts now! Mom says we have to wait for Mitch to come back inside from helping dad in the workshop so that he can enjoy cucumbers and bell peppers and lettuce too! Both of us LOVE veges!

But for now, toss me a tomato, mom!Mitch and I love when company comes! It's so much fun begging to see how many hand outs we get before mom starts yelling at us! And I love sneaking around under the table and stealing the guests napkins off their laps and eating them! The used ones are best, ya know!

So until next time..................

Love ya lots,

Maggie

  1. Thanks for the recipe, pals. We've been urging Mom to make lazanne for us for months now -- although last night we did have meatballs and psghetti -- but she's always found an excuse. Now she has none!!!

    Enjoy!!!

  2. YUMMMERS!!!

Maggie you sure are a good helper!

Our mom is drooling. She wishes she could cook! We will ask dad to look at the recipe and see if he could make it.

We LOVE that you steel the napkins from laps! That is too much fun!

Looks like you enjoy tomatos. How about lettuce? We are not sure if we should eat it or not, so we just shred it and leave it all over the room! BOL

  6. Maggie - muzzer wants to know if you will come later this spring to help her with a round of pawties she is doing? She says you are a much better helper than me and Teka, and wants to know if you charge hourly or by the day?

  7. Mags, Mom says she wants to go to your house for dinner. She thinks the napkin stealing is hilarious. I best not come along because I might fight you for those tomatoes. I'm not much into sharing, except with tennis balls and stuffies.

  27. You are such a great kitchen helper, Maggie! We help, all the time too, but we usually end up getting in trouble for being under Mom's feets when she is trying to move around. We really like veggies too...except lettuce. It has no taste! We always take it, but leave it on the living room floor. Now, the napkin stealing thing makes you a very typical Airedale! You're right...the used ones are the BEST!
