Wheelie Wednesday - Before the Rain

Hi everybody! It's me, Autumn!
Luckily mom and I were out in the garden snapping pictures before we had a whole week of rain!

This is Connecticut's state flower - the Mountain Laurel! Isn't it just beautiful! That's the stone foundation of our house in the background!
Sleeping Giant, where Maggie and Mitch hike is loaded with them! Maggie and Mitch are dying to go for a hike!
I just love the color of this iris! It's so cheerful and pretty!
The purple iris seemed to last quite awhile this year until all of the rain made mush out of the blossoms! This is the gas plant! They say that a flammable oil exudes from the leaves and the seedpods and if you light a match near the plant, it will ignite and the plant will not be damaged!
Mom and I have never tried this before. We do know that the plant has a lemony fragrance!
This plant is called Baptisia Australis. It's actually more blue than it looks in this photo!
We have had such lousy weather lately! Too much rain and not nearly enough sun! And it's been very cool! Our temperatures were 44 degrees this morning! Mom put the heat on! It's mid-June!

See you all next Wednesday!

Love, Autumn

  1. Sorry for the total absence of commenting at the blog! So much that I have missed!

We are the total opposite over in Malaysia, too hot and no rain! >.<" I think we need to exchange weathers...hehe!

Those are pretty flowers indeed..thanks for sharing them with us! Hope Maggie and Mitch managed to go on the hike! *grins*

  2. Better keep Scruffy and his blow torch away from the gas plant. It looks like your garden is planned to have some color all the time. Very clever.

  3. Ciao bella Autumn!

Bellissima fiori, la mia amica, and that yellow iris is particularly splendid -- all sunny and bright!

Booooo on the chilly, damp days! It has been a cool and rainy this week in mia citta, too. Muddy paw weather!!!

  4. Hi Autumn! We would do just about anything for 44 degree weather! It has been over 90, here, for about 2 weeks and it's only the middle of June! We are NOT looking forward to July and August!

Your gas plant sounds kind of scary!

  5. Beautiful as always. Mom says I should tell your mom about the Stevia Plant which you can now buy,(she say it in Walmart) it is the plant they make the Truvia Sugar from and you can actually use the leaves. It has many other health benefits too and would be a fine addition to a herb garden if you have one. Those Iris's were certainly beautiful

  7. Hi Autumn! Thanks for showing us all the pretty flowers! How cool that you have the state flower! Our state flower is the orange blossom, but we'd have to have an orange tree to have one, and we don't. Sorry about all your rain and cold weather...brrr.

    See ya!

  27. Sorry I've been MIA for so long M & M!!

Ms. Alpha has me so busy with lessons and training lately and I haven't been such a great friend...no time to write! I take more classes than a college student!

When Ms. A. isn't training or playing with me, she's in the garden weeding and doing something called transplants. Sounds awful scary!!! So, she very much appreciated your photos and thinks your Laurel is beautiful. She also has baptisia and loves it.

Make sure you don't run through your people's flowers and break them!

    Your pal,
    Fenway
