Fairey Tales and Socks

The 2009 Airedale Quilt has just gone "live" after months and months of work!
It's called, Fairey Tales!
There are 20 adorable fairey tail blocks, such as Hansel and Gretel, Jack and Jill, Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, and more! Each block is a work of art and they are all just adorable! Mom's block is Pinocchio and Geppetto and it's on the third row and all the way to the right! If you want to see it up close, click here! You can see all of the blocks up close and read about all of the quilters and the quilt block artists and the person who sews the blocks together and then quilts the whole thing. There are a lot of people who work on this project before it's all said and done! It's a lot of work but so well worth all of the efforts!
Make sure you click on the bonus quilt button too so you can see "For the Love of Chloe"! Susann Trandem did a fabulous job on the quilted wall hanging!
The quilt will be raffled off on October 4th at the Montgomery County Kennel Club dog show so if you are so inclined, and you'd love to have a shot at winning this quilt (and who wouldn't), please purchase tickets! All monies support Airedale rescue!

And guess what else?
Mom FINALLY at long last finished BOTH of her socks! We think she deserves a standing ovation at least! Geez, it's been forever, mom!The other miracle is that they fit and they both look pretty much the same size!
And here's the exciting part! She started another pair!
Do you think there might be a chance that you'll finish this pair in 2010, mom?!

Our buddy Emmitt is 13 years old today! Head on over to his blog and wish him a happy birthday and stick around for yummy meatloaf that Emmitt and his mom have been baking all week long for today! There will be food and music and games and FUN!
We're ready to pawty, Emmitt!

So until next time...................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

  3. Hi Maggie & Mitch
Our mum just loves the quilt - even though we can't see any bassets!
She is certainly going to buy some tickets - of course we will be hoping she doesn't win.
Well it wouldn't be right would it - all those airedales!!!
We seem to be meeting so many too - we are worried our mum likes them so much!
We loved the socks too although we would need four - one for each paw.
Probably just as well humans only have two paws - think how long it would take your mom to knit the socks then......
    love you lots

  6. The quilt is gorgeous! Airedale moms are so talented. I'm glad your mom finished her other sock. Since they don't have fur, people need to cover up. Those socks look like they will keep her nice and warm.

  24. Hey Guys,
Those socks may have taken years, even decades, to knit, but we bet that you could unravel, or otherwise destroy them in just a few minutes.
We can't even imagine how much work went into that quilt but we sure hope that it sells for lots of moola. We want all of you aviation dogs (Airdales) rescued and in good homes that feed you constantly and then take photographic evidence to post on blogs. Heck, just half of YOUR annual treat and goodies budget would probably be a record high bid for the quilt.

  29. Hi Maggie and Mitch,

Just wanted to stop by and thank you for sniffing around my place a while back. My secretary gets side tracked at times and I have to nip him in the butts to distract him long enough to help me bark.

That's a cool quilt. Bet it took a long time for your mum to quilt it. My mum works on quilts too. She's making one for a nephew right now. She is does something called paper piecing.

Those socks look really warm. Do they taste good? :o))

  35. Wow - can't imagine how many hours went into that quilt - probably all under the watchful eyes of doggies that don't get how needles, thread & material can be so fascinating to humans....

As far as the other project - talk about knocking our socks off!! So great you finished them just in time for the hottest month of the year... Makes my feet hot just thinking about them, but awesome job!!

  36. That quilt it spectacular! And my Granny knits socks - at pretty much the same rate your Mom does.... She's been promising Dad a pair of socks for the last year and a half... Of course, she's been working on a sweater for my uncle for (literally) the last 6 years - good thing he hasn't put on any weight!
