Wheelie Wednesday - Airedale Christmas Tree

Hi everybody! It's me, Autumn!I just have to know - who else has their Christmas tree up? Am I the first one?

The Airedale Christmas tree is always the first tree to go up at our house and it's always the last one to come down! We just LOVE our Airedale tree and we wish it could stay up all year!
Mom has made so many of the ornaments on this tree! She's made this felt one with the Airedale face on it a couple of years ago! It's so easy to make ornies with felt because there are no raw edges on the felt to ravel. You just cut out your shape with sissors and use the buttonhole stitch to sew the face to the backing! And if you don't want to sew you can use glue! It's so simple and you have a handmade ornie for your tree!
Mom makes all of the wooden ornies too! It's been a couple of years since she's made a new one though and this year will be no different! The Crump timberframe project is keeping her and dad too busy to have fun in the workshop! The darker wooden Airedale is mahogany and the lighter one just above it is tiger maple. A lot of the ornaments are butternut. It's a very easy wood to work with and it's such a pretty light color!
Now I have to tell you all a secret! See the stocking ornie in this next picture?
Mom has been knitting away and she has 4 stockings similar to this one and Maggie and Mitch are going to be having a Christmas stocking give-away very, very soon so be on the lookout for that and shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, don't tell anyone that I blew the secret, okay?See you all next Wednesday!

Love, Autumn

  5. Oh dear. Just when Moma thought she might have finished one project and now she can get to the next one on her list ... you may have just promoted her bringing out the Music Christmas tree. Betcha it's out by the weekend! Our little feather tree is already out, decorated right now with Halloween ornaments. Maybe we can influence her to take them off and put the fall leaves on it! At least that's a start!

We LOVE all the Airedale ornaments and the Airedale tree. Hmmm. Maybe that promotes development of a new Christmas tradition for Our Girl, since some year fairly soon she's gonna have a tree of her own (like next year? in college? oh NO! We hadn't thought about that!)

Is there a limit as to how many words we can paw out on here? Can you tell we liked your post this morning and it got our sleepy little heads awake and excited!

Hope it's a great day, Autumn. Winston says hi!

    Love

  6. Great Post Autumn. We love the Airedale tree. Muzzer is dithering about where and whether to put our tree, since we will be in St. Loulis again for Schmauss. But you may have inspired her.

Gotta make a barkday pawty for rere firstest though.

  7. We love your 'Dale tree. We need to get Mom hoppin' on a Scottie tree. She has a little feather tree that she puts up ever year with just some random ornaments, but we think Scotties might be the order of the day for this year.

If you can slip us some more hints about the contest, we're all terrier ears!!!

  10. What a beautiful tree and I can see why you want to keep it up all year. Don't you worry that maggie and mitch might think some of those ornaments look like cookies - and try chewing on them. Maybe your mom can include some gingerbread-dales.

  12. Oh Autumn, great pictures, great post this morning. We love your airedale Christmas tree!!! I love to work with felt too. If I could get off this very slow computer I would make some new things made to go on our Chtistmas tree. We grew our own tree. It is getting pretty big now.
Thank you Sue for your kind words this morning. I am so blessed that my Lord brought Tom in my life!!!!
He has made my heart sing with joy. When I was married to the first I was a very sad girl, I thought life was just hurtful thats all I had ever known, than Tom and joyfulness came into my life!! I sound like a dog, don't I?
I am part dog in my mind.
    Love you lots, Fern

  16. Other than the ones in shopping malls (they've been there for 3 weeks already), I have to think your tree has to be one of the first up! We put up our tree the day after Thanksgiving. Mom say she hopes I don't consider it an indoor bathroom again this year...

  24. I've never seen a tree like that before! This whole Christmas thing is new to me because I've never experienced one before, but judging from your special Airedale tree (which is awesome!) I think it's gonna be great!

  26. You guys are airedales? Pawesome! Loki's favorite schoolmate is an airedale lady named Poppy. She and Loki have to raise their paws when the instructor asks who are the "naughty dogs" here so people will know who's naughty... of course the 2 naughti-est dogs get along famously!

Thank you for stopping by Wild Dingo and wishing Juno well. It's nice to meet you!

And cool xmas tree. nothing like startin' early!

  27. Thanks for sending a card to Noah and sharing your special tree. The picture I posted was from last year at the big company party my mommy helped to host for her work. But I thought it might get everyone in the Christmas Spirit!!

  28. We don't have any trees up yet, but Mom did put all the strings of lights on the outside shrubs Sunday - weather was gorgeous and much better than doing it when she can't feel her fingers. Now to do the boulevard trees.

Your tree is beautiful, and so meaningful with all the handmade ornaments. Don't worry, Autumn, your secret is good with us - Mum's the word:)

  32. What a beautiful tree. I think you all should convince your Mom and Dad to leave the Airedale tree up all year. Christmas is the best holiday so why not celebrate all year long?

  33. Oh you have your Christmas tree up already! It's so pretty... the wooden airedale ornaments reminded our mom of the Huskee ornament that your mom made.. our Mom has it kept away safely in a pretty box and only brings it out to admire!

Sadly there won't be a Christmas tree for us this year because mom and dad originally intended to get one to celebrate Chloe's first Christmas with us, but sadly, it wasn't meant to be. So now mom does not want a Christmas tree anymore.. :(

  34. We just loved your tree!!! We are now thinking how cool it would be to have a basset tree!

  36. We have a doggy tree, too. Mom looks for doggy ornaments all year long. She's hoping to make some soon, too. One year she knitted stocking for all of us with our names on them, but that was before the pups were born, so she needs to make more.

Count us in on your giveaway. We'll be watching for it.
