Wheelie Wednesday - The Tart Melter

Hi everyone! It's me, Autumn!
We have this most awesome device at our house that mom calls the tart melter! She pretty much puts it away for the spring and summer but when autumn and winter come around and the windows are closed and the heat is on and she wants the house to smell good, the tart melter gets put back into use!

The hardest part is deciding which scent candle to melt on any given day! This one is Cinnamon Coffee Cake and it smells delicious and its fragrance is permeating our entire house!Mom takes a knife and chunks up a candle. She used to use tarts that were designed for the tart melter but it's more expensive that way. She adds a few chunks to the tin basket and turns on the switch and voila! The really nice thing about the tart melter is that there is no open flame so you don't have that worry and the electric light bulb and the melter actually put off a small amount of heat and who doesn't need extra heat when it's cold out! We sure love our tart melter and can't imagine life without one.
Does anyone else have one?

See you all next Wednesday!

Love, Autumn

  1. That looks like something we would like around here. It is sometimes hard to make the estate smell the way the people want it to smell (something wrong with Mango fragrance?).

  2. Mums loves the name you use, we just call it the oil burner. we will gets mums to take a photo of our main one. in fact it was being used today as we had had bones so was letting fluffy of the hook, she doesnt use candles now, just keeps reusing the wax but adds pure essential oils to it (not fragrant oils), she has differant coloured wax for diffrent pongs, today was lavender. wax just pops out when cold so it can be changed.

  4. What a cute tart burner - Mom loves the punched tin and that it's not got a candle burning in it.

  5. My mom has a tart burner and she loves it! She says she likes to use it to get rid of the Eau de Mack, whatever that means!

  6. We have one of those too, Autumn! Mom loves that if she is clumsy and forgets to turn it off, we are not in any danger.

    Have a great day today!

  8. Autumn,
My Ma does the something similar. She chunks up the remainder of old candles and puts them into a glass jar. Then heats them over a small candle. The house smells divine.

But boy oh boy... does that Cinnamon Coffee Cake sound good or what??

    Making me hungry!

Thanks for all the well wishes!

  9. Yeah the cinnamon coffee cake flavor would warm and homey any home on a cold day like that!
My mom don't have the tart melter yet, but I think she will, after reading your post.
She likes the creme bruler flavor, she gains 3 lbs just for sniffing!
    Love ya!

  10. We have one one with a painting of a PWD on it, but Mom has never used it. Maybe she'll start soon. We have all sorts of nice smelling things around the house ever since the skunk visited .

  11. Hmmm... very interesting. Do you think we could find a tart cooler???? We melt ourselves most often -- except for a few days in February -- so we'd love to find a way to reverse the process!!

  15. We need one of those!!! We had one, but it was the kind you use a candle in the bottom to melt the little tart. Why not just burn a candle then? That really messes with my head. Yours sounds lots safer!

  27. Great idea, M & M. Mom loves the smells of all the pretty candles out there but can only burn them when Dad isn't around. His allergies are really bothered by the smells.

Your tart melter is very cute too.

  28. Hi Maggie and Mitch,
We do not have one. Bambi and Mom and Dad all have allergies. We have a hot tube and I(Mom) started to get real bad rash and found out that I was allergy. So I can not go in any more.
    A good post Sue.
Love you lots, Bambi and Fern

  37. We've never seen a tart melter like the one you have and we like it a lot! Is the base punched tin? It's so pretty and we're guessing the light glows through the holes. Yes? It must be really nice in a room. And maybe we'd be able to pretend we were going to get cinnamon rolls for breakfast if we had one! Yum!

We've got one that looks very much like yours. Maybe we can get dad to take a photograph and put it in one of our posts.
