True Colors Thursday - Rainbow

Today is one of our most favorite days of the week for blogging! It's true colors Thursday!
If you want to play along, leave our hostess, Blue, a comment and let her know that you'll be playing! It's that simple!

This weeks color is rainbow!

Gram gave mom this murano glass pitcher awhile back!
Mom made this Amish Sunshine and Shadows quilt back in 1988! It hangs in our downstairs hallway! This is our Airedale wind sock! For some reason, mom just doesn't want to hang it outside where it belongs so it's been hanging in our hallway it seems like forever!
You look pretty snazzy in that rainbow bandana, Mitch!
This hand blown glass ball hangs in our dining room window! It was a gift from a friend!
Mom bought this primrose rug one year that we vacationed on Nantucket! It's at the top of our staircase just outside the guestroom!
Next weeks color is cerise, which is pink!

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

Wheelie Wednesday - A Perfect April Morning

Hi everyone! It's me, Autumn!
So much is happening outside these days and I wanted to take you all outside on my morning walkie around the yard!
This is the decoration at our back door! Mom put a piece of black electrical tape over the hole in the Amish hat birdhouse so the birdies won't make a nest there! It's messy when they do and it's just not a practical thing! We use this entrance all the time and they'd have no privacy! This is mom's Easter gardenia plant from Missy and Jim! It's in bloom and it smells AWESOME!!!!We're in dad's greenhouse! These are all tomato plants that he has started from seed! There are yellow brandywines and big boys and Father Lou and dime tomatoes, which are just little and supposedly the size of a dime! And there are Aussies and Old Germans and Fourth of Julys and even a tomato called pineapple! Some varieties are new to us! I'll keep you updated when they start to produce fruit! It's 8AM here and this is the temperature in the greenhouse! The thermometer says 80 degrees! By this afternoon, the greenhouse will be well over 100 degrees!
Just outside the greenhouse is the pond and there's Dauby, our Mute swan, saying hi to me!
This is the daddy Greylag goose! We think his wife is sitting on a nest because she's been missing in action now for a couple of days! I'll keep you updated on that too!
This is the magnolia tree in front of the addition on dad's barn! Isn't it just beautiful in bloom? No, you're not seeing things. The wing of our workshop barn really was built c.1680! We own one of the oldest structures in our country! Another time I'll have to take you inside to see the timbers! That's the old part! What a beautiful day we have here today!

See you all next Wednesday!

Love, Autumn

One Fabulous Afternoon

What a fabulous afternoon we had! Dad needed to have his truck washed so mom and dad decided to make an adventure out of it! We headed up to the car wash in Madison, which is about 1/2 hour away! Once we got there, we had to get out of the truck and wait outside while the truck went through all of the soapy brushy wash! As luck would have it, the car that pulled in behind us to have their vehicle washed had doggies in it!We're outside and they're inside - 6 of them! Can you see them all? They were all sizes and two of them weren't even on leashes! Mom couldn't get over how well-behaved they all were!Unfortunately, mom didn't get a picture of them as they all came out of the building to get into their car! What a dummy! They filed right past us all grouped together like a family and they actually listened to their mom and she got them all inside their car with no yelling or HBO words! hehehe

Our next stop was Wendy's!
We've never been to Wendy's before! Mom gobbled up her hamburger and didn't share any with us and dad was ooooooohing and aaaaaaaaahing over his fish sandwich and he didn't share either but we did get French fries! Yeaaaaaaaaaaa!Next stop was Durham ice cream! whoooooooohooooo
Both mom and dad got swirly chocolate and vanilla cups with a cone on top! They only shared the vanilla ice cream with us, no chocolate, but hey, who cares! It's ice cream, right?!What a fabulously fun afternoon we had! Thanks, mom and dad! Can we do this again real soon?!

So until next time.................

True Colors Thursday - Rust

It's true colors Thursday once again! If you are so inclined to play along, leave Blue a comment on her blog! It's that simple! This weeks color is rust!

TOUCHDOWN!!!! I caught my rust football!
An Airedale tile that mom uses as a hot plate!
I'm an autumn girl decked out in lots of rust-colored leaves! This rust grate is right in front of the porch that leads up to our back door! Mom took the picture way back when there was still snow on the ground! This is actually a heating grate that came out of an old church and dad bought it at an antique shop on one of his Maine trips! We wipe our feet on it!Another snowy picture! This rust Schnauzer lives in our flower garden! This rust gingerbreadman hangs on our Christmas tree!
Next weeks color is RAINBOW!

Wheelie Wednesday - Shrink Me Smoothie

Hi everyone! It's me, Autumn!Fiona had the most wonderful idea to throw our dearest friend, Myrna a wedding shower and Enid and Josephine and I were just thrilled with the plan!

The shower was this past Saturday at Johnson's Tea Room in Cranberry, Pennsylvania! It was the most perfect spot with so many beautiful gardens! There were literally hundreds of lilacs in bloom on the grounds and the Aire was so fragrant with them! Purple is one of Myrna's favorite colors and it could be the color of our bridesmaid's gowns for the wedding!
How the heck did Eric get in the shower photo? hummmmmmmmMyrna looked so lovely and so very happy, just as the blushing bride-to-be should! She got so many beautiful and useful gifts and the finger sandwiches and petite fours and the Earl Grey tea.........I could go on and on! BUT......................

I have to tell you all a secret! Do you see this picture? It's Clacie mixing up Shrink Me Smoothie drinks and Lacie is pouring them! Look at that knowing smirk on her face! It's a very strange concoction and Lacie wasn't sharing the recipe! We all had way too many of them at the shower after the finger sandwiches and petite fours and tea! Boy, they pack a mean punch! After the shower, Fiona asked if we could all go to my house to see the doll house! SURE! And because we all had way too many Shrink Me smoothies, we had no problem touring the doll house because we all fit just fine inside of it! Lacie is peering in as Fiona is dancing on the fireplace mantle! OMG, please don't fall, Fiona! We don't need Myrna to be any more stressed about this wedding than she is already!Thank goodness Fiona wasn't hurt when she rolled off the fireplace mantle and into the dining room! Josephine, Enid and I are all 3 sheets to the wind! Boy, those smoothies were good! Clacie must have downed the rest of the mixture that was left in the blender because she's swinging from the brass chandalier!

Clacie had never played a piano before and wanted to try it out! Great chopsticks, Clacie! And Fiona did a GREAT job on the harp! You're a natural, girlfren! Josephine and I, thank goodness, were coherent enough to carry a tune for a sing-along!

What a fabulous shower this was! We can only imagine that the wedding will be 10 times better! Make sure you stop by Fiona and Enid and Josephine and Myrna's blogs to see how the shower went for them!

See you all next Wednesday!

Love, Autumn

Dunkie Day

Today is dad's tour of barns and it's the day we wait for all year long!
Dad teaches timber frame class once a year in Manchester and it happened this past Saturday and Sunday.
Monday is what he calls his tour of barns day and what happens is that the students all come to tour our barns and lots more in the area but the REALLY important part about this day is the FOOD!
The students get coffee breaks and lunch breaks, which means DUNKIN DONUTS and these only happen once a year!
OMG! Cookies too??!!
Yes, I know, mom! We're supposed to be working and cleaning up and not just eating like piggies but it's so much fun discovering all the yummy stuff that's in the workshop and snacking! Someone spilled something here! Not to worry - I'll clean it up, mom! What???? Tortilla chips too!! Blue ones!!!!
Healthy food? Why would they want to go and do that, mom?!
A cucumber! I love cucumbers!
What a fun afternoon! We sure didn't mind helping mom clean up one bit did we, Mitch!
Why can't dad have his tour of barns more than once a year?!

So until next time..................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

Our Masterpiece

Remember this watercolor painting that was done by 16-year old Victoria of dad and his Indian Chief motorcycle? It has a permanent home in dad's workshop and it gets many compliments from everyone who sees it! We were a wee bit jealous that she painted dad and not us so mom wrote to Victoria and asked her if she'd paint us!
Mom has always loved this painting and she has tried many times to get Mitch to stick his head out the door so that we could both be in the photo together on the sidebar of our blog! But this is not Mitch's style! If mom calls him from other side of the door, he plows through it! He doesn't peek out like a gentleman and stand posed next to me like mom would like him to do!
We can't tell you how many times mom has tried to get the photo that she wants!

Well, no more worries!
Victoria has painted the masterpiece that mom has always wanted! TADA!
We are absolutely ecstatic and thrilled beyond words! She has the masterpiece she has always wanted in oil! Thank you so very much, Victoria! You are such a talented and gifted artist! We just LOVE your work!

So until next time..................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch
