Special Visitors from Colorado

Guess who came to vist us?   Jake and Fergie and their mom, Sally, and Miss Nina!
That's me nose to nose with Jake! He is the sweetest boy!
Fergie is a little bit more shy and reserved!   She put us right in our place by showing us her toofies and then smiling broadly at both of us!  You can sorta understand why when two overly anxious-to-meet-you Airedale Terriers are in her face!
Wanna play, Jake?
Jake wasn't into bigtime playing.  He was too interested in checking everything out.
Pressies?  For us?
Buffalo jerkie from Colorado!  yummmmm
Cookies!
Thank you - thank you!
We got an Airetreat last night~
And another one this morning.
Notice anything new - like maybe somedoggie with a little less fur?
That was mom's project this morning.
We got beautiful new bandanas and mom got an Airedale cookie cutter!  You're sniffing a cookie cutter's butt, Mitch!  What a ding-a-ling you are!
And you have to see mom's pretty new tote!
And look what Fergie and Jake's mom made!  Mom says right now they're paperweights until she can come up with a better plan! These are soo cool!
We had such a great time visiting with our new friends! It's funny how the hoomans connect.   It's like they've know each other for years!
We said our good-by's at Crump's barn project so Sally and Nina could see what mom and dad have been up.
What a wonderful visit we had!  Thank you so much for coming to see us!
We miss you guys already!
Please come back again soon!

So until next time............

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

True Colors Thursday - Walnut

Today's color is walnut!
Our dad eats walnuts every single day!  He loves them and doesn't share with us!
This teddy is wearing walnut Dutch shoes!
This letter opener is walnut!  It belonged to dad's mom, our nanny!
These Wooliedales are sitting on top of a trunk with a walnut raised panel!

The library in the dollhouse has a walnut paneled wall around the fireplace!  hummmmmm, it looks like someone needs to get to the dusting!
This antique butter mold is walnut!
Next week's color is saffron, which is a golden yellow!

So until next time...............

Wheelie Wednesday - Crochet

Hi everyone - it's me, Francesca!
We heard from dad yesterday morning!  He went with his Amish friend Tim to a hardware store and guess what their means of transportation was?
This is not Tim's wagon. Mom snagged this picture off the internet.  Dad chose not to take his camera to Tim's house.  He didn't want to be rude or do anything disrespectful.
Dad said that after a few minutes into their trip, Tim asked dad if he wanted to take the reins and drive!
Dad says that visiting Tim has been the experience of a lifetime!
Mom left Maggie and Mitch alone yesterday to go shopping with Auntie Jan.  The girls hit AC Moore, which is a craft store. She said they were inside the store for a good 2 hours having oodles of fun creating!   She only came home with one item though!
Mom is in love with the granny squares that Doyle and Mollie's mom is crocheting and she says that she really, really wants to learn how to do this!

It looks like mom has got the chain stitch down!
Now she needs to learn how to work into the chain and get the single crochet down!
hummmmmmmmmmmmmm, wish her luck! I think she's going to need it!   Fortunately, Auntie Jan knows how to crochet and she told mom that if she needs help, she's got it!
Hopefully, we have something more exciting to show you next time!

See you all next Wednesday!

Friends forever,
Francesca

One Successful Weekend

We were over at Crump's barn this morning with mom while she was cleaning up and packing the car to bring paper goods and yummy left-overs home.    This weekend was a HUGE success!

How yummy does this look?
Mitch and I only got to lick the stick.  Mom said that chocolate is not for us!
What a meanie!
Mom says you'd all rather see pictures of the barn but Mitch and I were quite certain that you'd rather see the food first, right?!

This is the first floor of the barn.  Sorry about the bright light blinding you at the top.  There is one more upper gable that still needs to be sided.
We are now upstairs looking out of that gable that still needs to be sided.
We are still upstairs looking towards the other end of the barn. This gable has been entirely sided! Are these timberframers good or what?!  You can see the angled purlins and queen posts.  Aren't they the coolest!
We're outside now!  The timberframers worked so hard and did an amazing job!  Saturday was one of our hottest days on record! These guys just never quit!
Look what Mitch got!
This is a shot of the barn as we were leaving.  The roof boards are all in place and there is weatherwatch on the entire roof, which makes it temporarily weatherproof while dad is away.
When dad comes back, he will continue with overhangs and the roofers will then be ready to roof the barn!

You probably want to know where dad went, right?   We took him to the Aireport early this morning.  Remember his Amish friend, Tim, who makes the beautiful dog collars?  He's at his house right now having lunch!
On Wednesday, dad will drive from Tim's house to Madison, Wisconsin.  He's competing in the Transplant Olympic Games!  He'll be throwing the discus and swimming and running and playing volleyball!
Dad took his laptop and his camera with him so we are crossing our paws for pictures!

Mom can't wait to get out in the garden and pull weeds!  She did say that she had a few surprises for us while dad is away!  We can't wait to find out what they are!

So until next time...........

Love ya lots

Bella's Hat Parade

Most of you know that Bella the Westie had a hat parade a couple of weeks ago.   Mango the Maltese won most popular boy hat doggie and I won most popular girl hat doggie!
A prize came in the mail for me!   I sure do love to get packages in the mail!
A beautiful postcard of Bella!
She sent all kinds of neat stuff from her country, Australia! Check out this cool key chain!  Mom wants to snag it for her very own!  I guess it's okay, mom, seeing as I don't drive - yet!
She also sent this cool pen with koala bears on it!
Also an adorable children's book called "Koala's Big Day".  I can't wait to have mom read it to me!  She also sent me a koala stuffie to snuggle next to so we can both hear the story!
Thank you so very much, Bella.  I love all of my new gifts!
And thank you all for voting for me!  I appreciate it!

So until next time............

Love ya lots,
Maggie

The Bestest Helpers

We are helping mom make macaroni salad and tuna salad!  Mom says we are such good helpers!
I got a grape tomato!
And Mitch got a black olive!  It's sorta matches your nose, Mitch!
The recipe is as follows for the pasta salad:

Boil 1 pound of pasta until it's done and then drain it.

In a small bowl combine 1/4 cup wine vinegar, 3 Tablespoons olive oil, 1 clove garlic that has been minced, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon dried marjorum, 2 Tablespoons of parsley and salt and pepper to taste.
Combine the above ingredients and pour over the cooked pasta and toss well.

We added some cooked asparagus, halved grape tomatoes, 1 can of small pitted black olives, 1 small jar of marinated artichoke hearts and about 1/2 cup of marinated mushrooms.

The tuna salad is ready to be put on rolls and served with lots of salads for lunch!
Mom tells us that Aunt Fran will be making potato salad and Aunt Jan will be making cole slaw and Aunt April will be bringing a yummy chicken salad and for dessert - peach cobbler!  yummmm
We think the timberframers that will be doing roof duty and siding duty will be very happy with today's lunch!

This past Monday was International Ice Cream day and we missed it!     We're making up for it now!
So until next time......................

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

A Birthday Package From Noah

I got a belated birthday pressie in the mail a couple of days ago.   It came all the way from Australia and it's from Noah and his sissies!
Mitch was home to help me open my pressie!  Lucky me!
A travel water dish!  That will come in very handy lots of times - trips to Sleeping Giant and trips to the Glenwood for burgers and even trips to Crump's barn!
Hey, Mitch!  I think an Airedale stuffie is trying to crawl out of the water dish!
Why is she on top of my head, mom?
What else did you find, Mitch?
Anything you find is mine, ya know!
A ball!  hummmmm, I won't be seeing that again anytime soon!
Isn't my new bandana pretty?  I don't think I want to wear the water dish on my head, mom!  What is your obsession with putting everything on my head?
I got an Airedale decal too!  I vote we put this on the Dalemobile window!
And a beautiful artsy magnet for the frig!  It's beautiful and it's purple!
Thank you so very much, guys! That was very sweet and thoughtful of you!
You need to know that mom has already stolen the AireStuffie for herself.   I guess she will stay safer in mom's care!

We helped mom make two loaves of zucchini bread for coffee break for this weekend's barn workshop!
We'll be in the kitchen again with her today making salads and a dessert!
So until next time................

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
