Wheelie Wednesday - Crochet

Hi everyone - it's me, Francesca!
We heard from dad yesterday morning!  He went with his Amish friend Tim to a hardware store and guess what their means of transportation was?
This is not Tim's wagon. Mom snagged this picture off the internet.  Dad chose not to take his camera to Tim's house.  He didn't want to be rude or do anything disrespectful.
Dad said that after a few minutes into their trip, Tim asked dad if he wanted to take the reins and drive!
Dad says that visiting Tim has been the experience of a lifetime!
Mom left Maggie and Mitch alone yesterday to go shopping with Auntie Jan.  The girls hit AC Moore, which is a craft store. She said they were inside the store for a good 2 hours having oodles of fun creating!   She only came home with one item though!
Mom is in love with the granny squares that Doyle and Mollie's mom is crocheting and she says that she really, really wants to learn how to do this!

It looks like mom has got the chain stitch down!
Now she needs to learn how to work into the chain and get the single crochet down!
hummmmmmmmmmmmmm, wish her luck! I think she's going to need it!   Fortunately, Auntie Jan knows how to crochet and she told mom that if she needs help, she's got it!
Hopefully, we have something more exciting to show you next time!

See you all next Wednesday!

Friends forever,
Francesca

  2. We would think that visiting Tim WOULD be the experience of a lifetime! Such a different culture from ours!

Hey, our mom could teach your mom to crochet! She learned from her grandma when she was 9 years old. It goes much faster than knitting! We can't wait to see what your mom makes.

  3. Our Mom wishes your Mom luck. We think our Mom just hasn't had the strong urge yet to learn to crochet - she tries it for about an hour and then goes back to knitting. One day maybe she'll learn - she has some great patterns though!!

  4. Your dad's visit with his friend Tim does sound like an experience of a lifetime for sure.
I am sure your mom will master the art of crocheting in no time...unlike my mom ;)

  5. Does your mom knit English ("throw") or Continental ("pick") style? My mom used to knit English and had a devil of a time learning to crochet, but then she switched to Continental style knitting and the next time she tried to learn to crochet it was much simpler.

But she still prefers knitting. Pawsonally, I prefer to make avant garde fiber arts installations all over the house, but that philistine mom of mine does not appreciate my genius. Harumph.

  6. Good luck to your Dad at the Transplant Olympic Games in Madison! We are super duper impressed...so much so that we are going to Google this event to learn more!

Also the barn is looking FABULOUS! so much hard work in your awful heat! We have had so much rain in Anchorage this summer. Our newspaper, the Anchorage Daily News says that this could possibly be the 8th rainiest July on record!

Dad visiting Tim must be quite amazing. We look forward to his comments. Bet the food at Tim's house was delicious! xoxo

  10. We bet your dad is having a great time with Tim! Crocheting...mom never could get the hang of it when her grandmother was trying to teach her decades ago. She would get one row started and quit. Best of luck!!! Moms friend in Florida makes some beautiful things doing that! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly

Paws crossed for your Dad in his events in the games. I'll be barking him on. And can't wait to see how he gets on and learn about his visit to his Amish friend too.

Good luck to your Mom with the crochet! I hope she makes you something wheelie interesting Francesca like a ... (Eric's Mom has censored Eric's wheelie naughty comment to pretty Francesca Wheelie.)
