Dad's Home

Our dad has been in Maine having a good time with 5 of his other friends for the past few days.  They go up a couple of times a year to eat and shop and just hang out and have fun!
I asked dad before he left if I could please go too and he said, "No, Mitch, not this time."   *sniff sniff*

Look what he brought home!
Our dad is known as the tinman because he had a heart transplant.  His friend, Marieluise gave it to him as a gift.

This tinman really whigged me out!   I barked at him for a full five minutes trying to get him to leave.  He didn't!
Mom just laughed at me and told me to stop being such a wimp!  Imagine!
She decided that I needed to overcome my fear of Tinman so she put a dog treat on his tincan shoulder and told me, "Get the treat, Mitch!"
I'm trying really hard to be a big brave boy, mom!
You have pull tabs for earrings, ya know!
Suppose I try to snag the treat from another angle.  Then the scary tinman won't be smiling that stoopid smile at me.
I'm moving in for the kill Tinny!  You don't scare me anymore!
Success!   I got my treat!
Dad said that Tinny and I need to become good friends because he'll be moving out to the workshop where I spend lots of time!
No problem, dad!

Maggie and I are sure glad that you're home!  We missed you!

So until next time,

Yer friend,
Mitchy Boy

  1. Wow you are very brave Mitch - I don't like the look of that Tinny either.Although hang on ...is that the smell of chappie? Maybe he's made of old dog food cans - wouldn't that be cool! Maybe he's alright after all!

  2. Wow, Mitch, your dad's trip sounds like one our mom would like to take! Tin man is very cool and we are sooooo glad your dad got a new heart! Be nice to Tin Man and don't pull any of Sunshade's tricks on him! (We hear she likes to open cans!)

    Have a great week!

  9. We understand pawfectly -- our folks are always bringing strange things inside and we have to bark our heads off for awhile to see if they (the things, not the folks) are harmless and can stay.

We'd love to spend time in Maine so we're happy your Dad gets to do that a lot!!

  14. Hello,
I love your Tinman. But also I, would be very careful. I do not like the rattles of tins at all.
You were very courageous! But we are of Airedale, they are afraid of nothing and nobody!
Even if there 100 Tinmans stand.
    Lots of love

  17. Mr. Tinman is very cleverly constructed. Somehow we bet that you could become his best pal if he wants to give you yummy treats all the time.

Welcome home, Dad. So is it Mom's turn now?

  18. Hi Mitch, the Tinman probably had odd smells so that might have prompted caution too. Besides if it's not chewable, I'd be suspicious of it too.

  46. Mitch you are much braver than I think I'll ever be. I was having a stare down and barking fest at a package of hotdog buns mom left a little too close to the edge on the kitchen counter the other day...heaven only knows what would happen to me coming upon that terrifying tin man. Good job Mitch!

  48. Hi, Mitch -

Mama laughed at the pictures but we are glad that you aren't afraid of Tinman any more. I (Hershey) would be afraid of the Tinman at first. But I probably would stand on my hind legs to get that treat!

Kaci is braver - she probably would knock down Tinman.

The pictures remind Mama of one of the songs by America "Tin Man."

    Love -

    Hershey and Kaci

P.S. We are glad that your Dad got a real heart instead of the heart the Tin Man got on the Wizard of Oz.
