No Treat Experts

We're back with our treat machine! No, we haven't learned how to use it yet!

We were at Sunshade's blog and we saw that Jaffa had learned how to use his treat machine because it had something yummy in it that appealed more to him than just plain old kibble so mom got Corn Pops for us. I can have this kind of treat with my compromised kidneys so mom is happy about that!

Do you think if we stare at it long enough, a Corn Pop will pop out?
We're really being extremely patient with this stoopid treat machine! Why doesn't it reward us?!
Hello - I'm waiting! You can send it down the shoot any time now!
Hey, it worked! The treat machine listened to me, Mitch! Excuse me but we needed two treats and not just one!
Mom has been working with us but so far, we're just not getting it! We both will raise our paws but hitting on it hard enough to send the Corn Pops out hasn't happened yet!
We'll keep working on it!

Update:
I was in the kitchen tonight fooling with the treat machine and guess what? I used my nose and pushed down on the bone handle and got a freebie Corn Pop! Mom and dad witnessed the whole thing but naturally, the camera was at the other end of the house! I'm getting it - I'm really getting it and I'm smarter than Mitch! HAHA
Mom told me to keep practicing because practice makes perfect!

Look at this loot, Mitch! The box is stuffed full!
There are carrot treats and smokey treats and beef treats and wholesome bones to keep us busy! No, Mitch - you may not have my new leopard high-heeled shoe! I've never had anything this fancy before!
Mitch got a squeaky coatimundi that still has his tail, believe it or not, and Deefor and Arrow even sent mom a hand crocheted string bag! I'm modeling it for you! Isn't it beautiful!
Mom says she can think of so many great uses for the bag - and what great colors! Thank you so much! This has been one fabulous Christmas! You guys have totally outdone yourselves and have been most generous! Thank you so very much!

Organizing and Cleaning

Guess what?
We got snow! Mom and I are on our way out to the workshop to help Mitch and dad.Every February, usually the day before the SuperBowl, mom and dad have a pawty for a LOT of people. We call it the Celebration of Life pawty! We're having it again this year on Saturday, February 6th, one week from tomorrow!
Mom and dad have been clearing the workshop of all barn timbers and cleaning and organizing! It'll soon be time for dad to start making his huge pots of yummy soup! We love helping with the food preparation part!

We are having a blast with so much space to run around in!
Uncle Phil is here and he's carving more gorgeous pinwheels in the door timber while Mitch and I have a friendly discussion!

Time to head into the house to fix the boys' lunch!

Please send more snow, SnowGods! This hardly covers my feet! This will never do - we need more!
On an extremely sad note -Our friend, Deetz, lost his brother Sharkie this week. We are absolutely heartbroken for him! If you haven't already, please stop by his blog and leave a word or two. We can only imagine how much he and his family are hurting. Thank you in advance.

So until next time..............

True Colors Thursday - Puce

Welcome to true colors Thursday once again! If you want to play along, let Blue know!
Today's color is puce, a color varying from deep red to dark purplish-brown!

This is mom's puce dishtowel! Not funny, mom! There are 3 jars of dilly beans and 1 jar of homemade tomato paste, which looks puce to us! Our friends, Pete and Laurie, make dilly beans every year from the beans they grown in their garden and we are lucky recipients!
The back cover of this book is puce! The book is called "Small Talk" It's full of pictures and patterns of miniature quilts! This is mom's Nantucket bag that goes just about everywhere that she goes! It holds her knitting projects! The brick sidewalks on the tote are a puce color and so is my collar! We promised dad we'd post of picture of his puce Indian motorcycle! He doesn't really call this color puce but it's close enough for us!Next week's color is pewter!

So until next time..............

Love ya lots,

Wheelie Wednesday - The Pile-Up Contest

Hi everyone! It's me, Autumn!
I've been watching Maggie and Mitch practice for Biggie's pile-up contest and I wanted to try it out too!
I'm not sure that I'm eligible to enter.
I did read the rules and I do fit the smaller dog category and all of the items are piled on me and nothing is leaning on me or beside me.
I wonder if anyone has done the pile-up standing yet?

I didn't want to out-do Maggie so I asked 6 of my best Dale friends to stand on my back! Maggie has 6 toys piled on her and Mitch has 5 toys on his body! We did try to get more on Mitch but he said that he's having no more of this nonsense!
Is everyone comfy? And as long as you're all aboard and I do have my AirePurse with me, what do you all say that we wheel on down for some ice cream in January!

Hey, that was fun! I hope that you don't mind that I played along too, Biggie, even though I won't be officially entering!

See you all next Wednesday!

Love, Autumn

A Christmas Gift from Sally

We got a Christmas pressie in the mail on Friday! It was from our friend, Sally, who lives in France!
Sally was our hostess for the Project Wichteling.
She told us that she had a chat with Santa and he said that it was okay for her to send us a parcel. Thank you so much, Sally! You did not have to do this, ya know!
Who are we kidding! We love pressies!
A squeaky basketball! This looks like it's just my size! Somehow I think Mitch is thinking the very same thing! Is this a doggie shish kabob? We've never had these before! How very yummy they look and there are two in here so we don't need to fight over them, Mitch!
A rope ball! We all know how much you love your rope toys, Mitch, but it is pink, ya know!
OMG, check out this bone, Mitch! There are 2 of these too! This will give us something to do while we're supervising mom and dad in the workshop today!
Thank you so very much, Sally! We are totally blown away by your generosity! You are too kind!

Sally even sent mom a pressie! We have to be honest here. Mom had no idea what it was or what she was supposed to do with it so we googled it!

Foie gras is a popular and well-known delicacy in French cuisine. Its flavour is described as rich, buttery, and delicate, unlike that of a regular duck or goose liver. Foie gras is sold whole, or is prepared into mousse, parfait, or pâté (the lowest quality), and may also be served as an accompaniment to another food item, such as steak. French law states that "Foie gras belongs to the protected cultural and gastronomical heritage of France."

The technique of gavage dates as far back as 2500 BC, when the ancient Egyptians began keeping birds for food and deliberately fattened the birds through force-feeding. Today, France is by far the largest producer and consumer of foie gras, though it is produced and consumed worldwide, particularly in other European nations, the United States, and China.

Mom, get out the fine china for this! This is quite the delicacy! Wow! This is going to be very tasty! You'll be sharing with us, right, Mom?

Thank you so much, Sally! We were not expecting this and it was a totally wonderful surprise and most generous of you! Your Project Wichteling was a lot of fun and we hope you have it again next year! Consider us "in"!

Take a look at us! We're getting ready to board Sally's bus!
So until next time................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

Who's Chicken Now

Hey guys! It's me, MitchyBoy!
You all know that my sissy has entered Biggie's dog pile contest with this photo~
I was at Dexter's blog a couple of days ago ( yes, I know it's really Mango's blog but we won't go there, okay) and I saw how Mango was coaching him through having an item place on his body. He's leary and nervous, just like I am!
And I figured that if Dexter can do this than I can too!

No, I'm not sleeping. I know exactly what's going on here!
And I haven't forgotten that Maggie called me a CHICKEN and I thought it was pretty rude!

So who's a CHICKEN now, Miss Maggie, huh?!
So what that you have 6 toys on you! I have 5 on me and I think that's pretty darn good for starters!
I'm going to keep practicing! I'm bigger than you are, ya know!

So until next time...................

Yer friend,

Mitch

True Colors Thursday - Blue and White Together

True colors Thursday rolls around once again! If you want to play, give Blue a shout!
Today's color is blue and white together!

The pretty dolly works for this week's blue and white together color scheme!
This red ware plate is both blue and white together! This little blue and white house is inside the beehive oven that's in our kitchen. Our house was built in 1824. This is one of mom's very favorite CD's! She just loves the movie "Sound of Music"!This flower vase is blue and white!
These Delft houses were given to our gram each time she flew on KLM Aire-lines! They used to have brandy inside of them but not any more!

This painting was painted by our great grandmother! She was a very talented lady - not only with paints but also with needlework. Mom tells us that she used to make her own yogurt from scratch! We've never had that!
Next week's color is puce!
According to the American Heritage Dictionary, deep red to dark grayish purple.

Wheelie Wednesday - My New Scarf and Hat

Hi everyone! It's me, Autumn!
Remember I told you that mom will do just about anything to get out of knitting that sock she's been working on FOREVER?
For some reason, it just bores her to tears!

She had this great idea to make me a new hat and scarf! It sure works for me! She has this book called "The Complete Encyclopedia of Stitchery" and she found this pretty pattern in there. It has nice texture, don't you think? And she even put fringe on it!
We think the picture will biggify for you in case anyone would like the pattern.
And she made me a matching hat! I'm feeling pretty special! The color matches these beautiful roses that dad gave mom! No special occasion. Thanks, mom! I love my beautiful new gifts but now you have a problem.
The hat and scarf are all done. Will you go back to knitting that poor sock or come up with another plan?!

See you all next Wednesday!

Love, Autumn

Train Your Dog Photo Contest and Happy Birthday

You guys know about Niamh and Ambrose's train your dog contest, right?
We are in the workshop and we had dad help us out while mom snapped pictures!

Mitch and dad are practicing high five!
I can definitely get my paw higher than yours, Mitch! Are you watching how it's done?!
I've been to obedience class but it was wayyyyyyyyy back when I was much, much younger. Mitch has never been and sometimes he's very stubborn when you give him the "down" command!
Good boy, Mitch!Dad is asking us both to sit! His offering is a plump mini-marshmallow! That's definitely worthy of a sit!
This training stuff isn't so bad - especially when there are treats involved!
Don't forget to get your entries in, guys! The contest ends on the last day of this month!

Today is our gram's birthday!
This is a picture of our gram and our mom taken a long, long, LONG time ago!
Happy birthday, gram!
We love you!

So until next time.............

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch
