Chopping Ice

Mom and I chopped ice yesterday!
This is our patio as we head out our back door.  It's so slick that you take your life in your hands everytime you step off our back porch!
This is our driveway - sheer ice!
Yesterday's temps were mid-40's so out came the chopping shovel .    Mom chopped and then tossed the ice cubes away, but because the snow/ice hills are so high in our yard - up and over to toss the cubes wasn't so easy.
Why would I want an ice snack, mom, I'm standing on it!
I can't remember the last time I felt so cool.  This is Heaven!  Now I know why Khyra loves it so much!
This is what dad and Mitch and Uncle Bill were doing while mom and I were chopping.
The ice was melting and running down the driveway and going inside our barn and yesterday morning we found a huge puddle of water.

Once it freezes we can have a skating pawty inside our barn!   Dad was not amused!
This has surely been SOME winter!
So until next time...............

Love ya lots,
Maggie

  1. That ice chopping is very hard work for sure. But your mighty dale jaws are most helpful in carting off the blocks. Tell your humans to be careful. They lack four wheel drive and can easily take a tumble.

  2. Wow!! That's some ice-chopping tool your Mom has there. We bet she has sore arms this morning, but hopefully you have a safer walkway. Our Mom wears Yaktraxx on the ice and they help tremendously!!

  5. Your driveway looks so dangerous with all that ice! We had that problem here a couple of years ago, and don't envy you having to chop up all that ice...it's not easy, but the only way to get rid of it. Hopefully the rest of winter will be easier to handle.

  6. I think it's a tough and dangerous job so please be careful.
It's fun to have snow but it's not that great when the snow becomes ice, luckily you all have some proper chopping tools with you.

  8. Scary, scary black ice - we read about and saw pix of some at Mango's - soooo dangerous. It looks like a lot of hard work to remove it as well. So sorries you have such awful damage to your house and barn this winter - no fun AT ALL. Thank goodness you furpals are there to help, but be cautious!!!

  24. So NOT fun - we feel so badly for you there. That ice is brutal. We heard on the news today about all the schools in the Hartford area closing because of the fear of collapsing roofs. You need some good strong sun and SOON.
