Pretty Please

The tomatoes are finally ripening!
They sure do look yummy!
Can I please have one?

Which one should I help myself to?
Might as well be polite and not go for the biggest one!
Gram always says to take the closest one to you!
What do you mean I was just supposed to be posing with them and not eating one?
I feel pretty certain that this was an offer!
Thanks, mom!

Yer most favorite boy,
Mitch

  2. those are looking just wonderful and I bet they taste great - we got about a pound off ours then they got attacked my the biggest ever caterpillars mom had ever seen - they ate the tops and flowers off all the plants - so looks like no more tomato's for us :(

  5. Mitch, you are such a good boy to help harvest the tomatoes. I wonder what type that striped one is?

Believe it or not, one of my tomato plants is still hanging on in the middle of winter - very cold, but we don't get snow or many frosts - and even has a new flower on it today. I'm waiting to see if perhaps this one final plant even lasts into another spring and summer.

  6. I forgot to say - do you get hot, hot summers? We are experimenting with a technique where you take off all the leaves on the tomato plant except the top few and bury the plant up to those leaves - about a foot at least into the ground. The plant I did that with is the one that has had a wonderful crop and its still alive right in the middle of winter.

  9. One of our dogs growing up ate warm tomatoes straight off the vine. I'm wondering now if it was our airedale, Stinger...

  10. There's a tomato sitting on my table today... I know it's a test. I know mom left it there to see if I would take it off the table... or maybe she just forgot and I get a free tomato? Hm...

  23. Mom is trying so hard to snitch some of those tomatoes right off your blog. We don't see nice ones like that here very much. We aren't crazy about tomatoes, must be because we don't have good ones like yours.

Have a good weekend, Mitch and Maggie.
