The Durham Fair

We have been having the most humid rainy days lately and Durham Fair last night was no different.  The Fair is a tradition - they can't not go!  Mom and dad wore their rain coats and carried umbrellas and had a great time with their Durham Fair buddies!

They always start at the top of the hill and work their way down.  The first tent has all sorts of fun stuff to see and buy and did they come home with yummy treats for us?  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Mom really turned her nose up at this stuff~
But Mikey said that it was delicious!
Dad had a baked potato with all of the trimmings~
 And a steamed cheeseburger!
This is what mom waits all year for - the HUGE hot sugared donut!
Can you even believe how big it is and did she bring home even a smidge for us?  NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
 The needlework building was next.
The blankies and quilts are just so beautiful!
A man named Doug made this one! Isn't it fabulous!
Dad is a big fan of George Washington and history~
Next was the antiques building.  There is just so much to see inside.
 The blacksmith~
 And the timber framers~
 Next were the animals.
This cow looks so pretty in pink!
And this bunny is very relaxed.  Dad poked him to make sure he wasn't stuffed.
Mom and Mr. Rooster had quite the conversation going!
And there was a goat judging and there was stacking going on just like they do at dog shows. Who knew that goats stacked too!
And they were even judging gingerbread houses!
Do you think they're keep until Christmas?

Mom and dad had a blast at the Fair despite the soggy conditions!
See you next year,  Durham Fair!
So until next time...............

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

  13. You had me at "bacon."

That magical place of XL-sized feastings sounds awesome. Next year you need to protest so that you get to go. Being left at home is inexcusable.

    Just sayin'.

  14. Wow it looks like your Pawrents had lots of fun and foods.

    BUT

    NO Doggie Bags?????

You let them in the house empty handed? Did you chew on their legs? That was just not right!

  18. Hi Maggie and Mitch, it's too bad that your mom and dad didn't bring home a donut for you guys to share. But maybe we could work out a deal. I think that Miss Sunshade would like that big bunny that your dad poked so if you guys bring that bunny up here. We'll give the bunny to Miss Sunshade and I'll share all my treats with you. Then we can all go for a walk together. Sound good?

I've shown several goats and trust me, they don't stay stacked.

  30. Hi,

Thanks for showimg us around the Durham Fair. That donut looked yummy, but my human is not sure about the idea of chocolate covered bacon. She is guessing the bacon had to be cold, or the chocolate wouldn't stick.

I love the suggestion you left on my blog of pizza and icecream. I haven't tried either (despite many year of wathcing my humans eat both those things), so mum has said she'll let me try pizza and iceream some sometime soon!
