The Black Swans are Free

Dad opened the door to Gussie and Myrtle's swan pen on Wednesday.  They took their sweet time adventuring out of their safe sanctuary.
It wasn't long before Margaret and Dauby, the Mutes, saw what was happening and they came swimming over to let the black swans know who the queens of the pond were.
Gussie put them in their place immediately. He wasn't mean about it but he was firm and they backed off.
The Flintstones get along with everybody. They are just the happiest little geese.
And Huey and the Noozy girls don't mind sharing their space with the black swans either.
 So far - so good!

I'm smokin' a black swan feather!
So until next time.............

Love ya lots,
Mitch

True Colors Thursday - Yellow

Reilly and Denny are taking a week off from True Colors but I keep discovering all of these pretty yellow flowers so my color choice this week is yellow.

I'm a pointing AireBoy!

Cesar the St. Bernard is barking at me and distracting me.  I was trying to pay attention to you, mom - honest!
I think My Maggie's yellow collar looks very handsome on me!
See you all next week!

Love ya lots,
Mitch

Another AireDish

Remember this picture~
This wood is cherry and mom finds it to be one of the hardest woods to carve.  Your tools have to be very sharp and there is almost no room for error, meaning that if you chip it, it's hard to sand it away and disguise the booboo.

This piece of cherry wood was sitting in our basement for at least 5 years.  Dad brought it in from the workshop to be used in one of our Sunday fires in the fireplace and every week when we brought wood from the basement to our family room to burn, mom just couldn't bring herself to sacrifice this piece of cherry.

The plan was to make a cherry Maggie dish seeing as the wood has probably been on our property for as long as Maggie lived here.

The wood had a warp to it and mom knew it and she wasn't careful enough when she was sanding it and the neck snapped.    Mom was just sick because she'd put so much time into it and because all she did was think of Maggie while she was working on it.

Mom asked for dad's help fixing it because she had no clue how to make it sturdy enough to continue and not have it keep breaking.
It's finished and it's just lovely and mom is so very pleased!
This is the cherry patch that dad helped mom to fashion on the back of the dish.

Thank you so very much, dad!   You made mom very happy.

So we have one more AireDish to add to My Maggie's memory.

A few days ago a small package arrived in the mail.  It's from Lacie, Scruffy and Stan.
It's a gorgeous handblown Airedale and mom and dad just love it!  Thank you so very much, guys!  You are so thoughtful and considerate to do this.
And I just love the card! It looks just like LacieCakes!
You guys are just too sweet! Thank you so very, very much!

Love ya lots,
Mitch

Sleeping Giant With Rocky

I got to hike Sleeping Giant today with my sissy  and her BoxerBoy, Rocky!
I've never hiked the Giant with any other doggie except My Maggie.
I think we can be friends, Rocky.

 Yup, we can be friends~
It's been almost 2 years since we were here.
The last time we came Noah's pinkies were with us.   What a fun time that was!
 There's the castle up ahead!
We made it!  It still looks and smells exactly the same.   Did you bring water, mom?
It is a beautiful view from way up here isn't it, Rocky!
Hey, George and Tess - I found some Saturday steps!
That was sure fun! Thanks for hiking with us, Missy and Rocky!  Can we do it again soon, please!

What am I doing now?
Please don't bother me for at least an hour, mom!

So until next time............

Love ya lots,
Mitch

DinDin With My Sissy

My sissy was here for Chinese dindin last night!
 What shall we order?
Bean curd with mixed veges - my mom's favorite!    Can't you go any faster, Missy. I'm hungry!
Yes, please.  I like fortune cookies~

Yesterday, the mailman delivered the last of my bloggie books so now the life of Maggie and Mitch is complete.  We have a total of 6 books for the 5 years that we have been blogging. Mom says the books are worth every single cent.   I think so too.

So until next time...........

Love ya lots,
Mitch

True Colors Thursday - Grapple

Today's color for True Colors Thursday is grapple.
Grapple is a combo of grape and apple~

We think our Lenten Rose is a great choice.
And Henry's lovely card seems to be in the grapple shades.
And what about my new silk flower collar~
See you all next week!

Love ya lots,
Mitch

A Cupola Update and a Thank You

After our morning walkies, we head over to Crumpie's every single day to work on the cupola.  It's coming along nicely.
It has 3 coats of white paint on it and dad says that it still needs 2 more.
The roof has been started. This is outside looking in~
And this is inside looking out.     The white paint is still wet so once it dries, we lay the roof back down on the floor and sheathe it.
 Break time!!!

A couple of days ago, a beautiful card came in the mail from our friend, Dilly.   The card is embroidered with gorgeous flowers and the prettiest AireGirl - well, she looks like a girl to me.
And inside is the Rainbow Bridge poem.
Mom thought that the card was too beautiful not to frame.
Thank you so very much, Dilly!   Our new picture has a place of honor and we think of you every single time we look at it.  You are a wonderful friend!

Happy first day of Spring!

Love ya lots,
Mitch

My Gotcha Day

Today is my Gotcha Day.   I have been with my family for 5 years!

Earlier this week, I got a package in the mail from Reilly and Denny and Jackson.
They sent me one of their very special handmade cards and some crunchie duckie feets!
Can you see me drooling all over the rug?  This is good stuff!  I sure hope our waterfowl don't get wind of this!
Thank you so very much, guys.  You are always so thoughtful and generous and such wonderful friends!

And guess what I had the night before my special day?
A frozen blueberry yogurt on a stick!

This is cold on my toofies, mom!
Hey, you stole a bite!  I don't need your help, ya know!
 yummmmmmmm~~~
I sure wish you were here to share a yogurt with me, Maggie.  Pawties aren't the same without you.
Maggie, I want you to know that if it wasn't for you and the love that mom and dad have for the Airedale breed because of you, I would have never come to live here.  I just wanted you to know that.  Thank you!   I miss you TONS!

I love you, Maggie~
