The Very First Time

Yesterday was the first time that I have ever been groomed in my entire 4.5 month old life!
Why the heck did I ever sign up to be an Airedale?
These are my before and after shots~
Mom tried so hard to get me to stand and to sit and to not lay on the table and I just wasn't buying any of it - not even with treats.  I just wanted it to be over asap!
My puppy fur is in that plastic bag and I feel so naked!  I weighed 33 pounds before groomies. I wonder how much I weigh now?
What will I do when Mitch comes home and sees me looking like this?
Mom says that when angel Maggie got groomed, she was energized and she acted like a nut case and raced around the house happy as a lark.  And she says that Mitch acts the same way.  He races all over the house and he's out of control because he's so happy to be so much cooler.
I'm tired!  I thought grooming was very stressful and mom tells me that we'll be doing it again and again and again throughout my entire life.
OH NO!

Awwwwww, I knew you would feel for me, Mitch.

Mitch is so easy-going. I love my brother and I love to bite him!

** Mom has since chatted with Miss Elaine and she said that I could have been afraid of the noise of the clippers so we'll do better next time, right mom!**

Love ya lots,
Molly

  1. Molly I just got a hair cut too and it took 3 hours of patience trying not to stress me out and all the treats I got was nothing to do with why it took so long???? Looking good Molly and Mitch seemed to think so too. Happy Friday to you all.
    Best wishes Molly

  2. Molly - the first furs-cut is the introduction of MANY MANY more to come.... even I...here in winter....had a winter furs cut on Monday because the peeps said I looked like a "wooki" and not a schnauzer anymore! The cheek!!

I used to really hate having my face and head cut... but I am much better at coping now.

    You'll get used to it!

  7. Miss Molly,
Maybe your mom will let you get fuzzy in the winter and give you a break. I agree that the clipper sound can be a bit intimidating. ZZZZZ!

  9. Dear Miss Molly and Mom...we think the results are wonderful. Me and Teka love our spa days, even when they happen at home. With the weather this hot, I like to try to get into the shower or the tub with the muzzer, maybe you would enjoy that too.

  10. Oh poor Molly, we are sorry you were scared although we would have been too!
They say you have to suffer to be beautiful but we think both the before and the after pics are very beautiful.
We are so glad Mitch was there to offer a comforting paw - sure it wont be as bad next time!!!

  12. You look wonderful. We don't like to stand still for all the trimming, but we sure feel great afterwards. We run faster and glide thru the water after our haircuts.

I don't like the clippers either, so Old Girl just uses plain scissors on me. It takes longer, but I am much calmer.

  39. So sorry that you had to undergo all that dog grooming torture with the evil implements Molly. I have learned to tolerate, but not like, being groomed.

Ambrose, who must be insane, actually seems to enjoy it. Barbara got him used to the clippers very gradually. First they weren't even turned on and she would just rest the clippers against him and he would get string cheese. Other times she would turn them on but keep them far away from him and give more cheese. This took several short sessions. Then she rested the clippers against him and turned it on while he got to lick peanut butter off of a spoon!!! He just sits there when she clips his head, ears and neck.

    Your friend,
    Niamh

  40. We don't have to have our furs trimmed except for between our pads, Molly, but we sure don't like being brushed for a long time. Just short quick spurts.

Maybe Mom could smear some peanut butter on her grooming table to keep you busy while she works on you. You do look quite lovely.

  41. Airedale grooming is the reason why some people switch from Airedales to Border Terriers but we're still all-ADT here!

  43. Molly, you look so grown up with your haircut. I don't like haircuts either, but I do the crazy running around thing cause I feel lighter like Mitch and Angel Maggie. Mitch is such a good brother, he got Mommy all choked up, when he was holding you. You are a sweety cutie pie Molly and I am glad we are pals.

  47. Molly,
I get really tired too from grooming. My mom tries to be very quiet and NOT TALK to the groomer....because he stops trimming me and talks to her...takes 2 hours!

But I always look good. Just like you! You look beautiful! Your coat is so lovely and black.

  48. Molly, I think you look beautiful with your new clip. You looked cute before but now you are both cute and beautiful. I love getting a clip. I love having the clippers run over my back and sides. The only parts I don't like are the detail parts (and there are plenty of them!). I hope you like your next clip better.
