Barn Raising This Weekend

Dad and the Northford Timber Framers will be having a barn raising this weekend and guess who will not be going?  Yup, you guessed right!
But we did help mom make Blueberry Buckle that she will be contributing.

Blueberry Buckle
Cream by hand -  1/4 cup of shortening,  3/4 cup sugar,  1 egg.
Add -  1/2 cup of milk.
Sift together and add - 1 1/2 cups flour,  2 teaspoons baking powder,  1/2 teaspoon salt.
Gently turn in -  1 1/2 cups blueberries.
Spread in a greased 9 X 13" pan.
Crumb mixture~
Cream together - 1/4 cup shortening,  1/2 cup sugar,  1/2 teaspoon cinnamon,  1/3 cup flour.
Sprinkle over blueberry batter.

We got to lick the spoon!
And yes, we each got a couple of blueberries too!
The blueberry buckle is ready for the 350 degree oven. It bakes for 25 - 30 minutes.
It smells so yummy!  Can we have a bite please?

So until next time.........

I'm a Student Again

Hi everyone.  It's me, Molly, once again.
Mom and dad signed me up for obedience class a couple of weeks ago and this week dad brought his camera and we have pictures to share with you.

I have Miss Cathy as my instructor. She's the same lady that Mitch had when he took the same class that I'm taking.
We're working on my down stay.  Mom says that I need lots and lots of practice~
This is my friend, Audrey and her mom.  Last week, her dad was her handler and she had a pretty bow on her ear.
Mom thinks this picture is hysterical.  She wonders how I'm ever going to walk from this sitting position!    Don't worry, mom - I'm with you!
We apologize for the quality of the pictures.  Dad stayed behind the fence and tried to zoom in with his camera and so many pictures came out blurry and mom tried to sharpen them~
I'm the blurry subject in this photo because I'm coming through the tunnel at top speed!
This is our blurry watercolor picture.  We think the colors are very pretty!
So until next time..........

Life Is Good

I really like sleeping upstairs!  It's nice not to be the only one on first floor and lonely~
Mom says that I'm the perfect girl!   Sunday night, it took me about 1/2 hour to settle down and go to sleep but last night I was quiet from the start.
 The only problem.....
Mitch hasn't slept in the bedroom with me since I've started sleeping upstairs.
Mom says that maybe this is a blessing in disguise until we all get used to this new life-style.
Mitch has a bed in our guestroom.  The guestroom used to be mom and dad's bedroom before they repainted, etc, etc, and Mitch  started out in this room with angel Maggie and mom and dad didn't want to tell him that he couldn't sleep in here anymore so they ended up just buying him another bed for the other bedroom.
Maybe tonight will be my lucky night and Mitch will sleep with me?  We shall see!

I also wanted to let you all know that my AireLickies are gone for good!  Soaking my kibble and making it soft was the answer and I'm so happy about that!
So until next time.........

Movin' On Up

I have really exciting news!  I, Molly, whine a lot in my crate at night. I've been doing it for quite awhile now. At first, it was because I was a wee pup and I missed my litter mates and then it was my permanent toofers coming in and my teef hurt and now, because I know how to climb stairs and because I ADORE Mitch, mom thinks I cry because I'm lonely and I want to be with the family when they go to bed and spend COUNTLESS hours upstairs away from me. I just know they're having fun without me!

So tonight, for the very first time, I will climb the stairs with mom and Mitch -dad comes up later, and I will sleep in mom and dad's bedroom!
And I will sleep at the foot of their bed on my very own bed with no crate!  Mom says that I have earned her trust.  She says that I'm a good girl and a much better puppy than Mitch was at my age of almost 6 months old.  Mitch used to snag her stuffies and do surgery on their eyes and ears and I've never done that.
I'm so excited!  Mom says that I will be gated into her bedroom so that I know what I'm supposed to do and so she knows what I'm doing while she's sleeping.
This is Mitch's bed.  He sleeps directly across the rug from me!  I hope he's as excited about this as I am~
I can't wait for tonight to come.
Please wish me well.  I want this to be a positive experience so that I never have to sleep in a crate again!

So until next time........

Molly

Supervising Pros

We've been at Crumpie's a lot lately. We take our supervising job very seriously.

Upstairs at Crumpie's used to be my special spot to escape and rest and to do whatever I wanted to but not any more.
Molly now goes up the stair very well.
And she goes back down the stairs even better.
And when I'm on first floor trying to get some time to myself (and protection from mom and dad), she sits on the stair landing waiting for me to come back up so she can play.
One thing is for sure - my sissy always gets her way!
Mom and dad have been working on this cupola that needs to be finished in one-month's time.  Mom's job over the next few days is to paint this base white while dad starts the roof.
We're on the job!!
 So until next time............

Our New Tags

Thanks to Mayzie, Molly and I both have new ID tags on our collars~
This is my tag with my very own face on it!  Isn't it so cool!
Mom loves this picture of me and the tag was made from this photo.  Our tags are 3/4" in size but you can get them larger too.
 This is Molly's tag.
 Hers is from this photo~
Mom says that these tags would make awesome key rings for keys - using the larger tag!

We both love our new tags. Thanks for telling us about these fabulous tags, Mayzie!

So until next time..........

No More AireLickies

Guess what?
We think that I'm cured of my after meal Airelickies!

I'm back on Wellness but that wasn't the answer.  Airelickies were still happening.  We had a couple of suggestions to "wet" my food so that's what we did.  Mom puts water on my kibble about an hour before I eat it and it gets all moist and soft.  It's very yummy!
Mitch and I eat on opposite sides of my crate and mom stands guard in between so I stay on my side.   I usually finish first and I want to go over and help Mitch eat his but mom says no!!!  She's such a killjoy!
This is the end of my meal - where I get my drink of water and then go into my AireLickie routine.
But instead of AireLickies - this happens now.  Mitch grabs a toy.
And we begin to have aftermeal fun!
 No more Airelickies (paws crossed)
We sure hope this is the answer!  It sure seems to be!

So what can this mean?
Dry kibble irritates my throat because I eat it too fast?
Is my throat too small for my body?
Will I outgrow this and be able to eat dry kibble when I'm older?
What do you think?

So until next time.........

Another First

Guess where we went last night?
Mitch has been telling me about Wentworth's Ice Cream forever!   He told me that he and angel Maggie spent many fun times here and they tried so many flavors of their homemade ice cream!  I'm finally getting to taste it firsthand myself!
Mom and dad both had peach and they weren't stingy. They shared a nice big spoonful with me.
And they shared a nice big spoonful with Mitch.   Can you see his long icky drool?
Yes, I'm wearing some of the peach ice cream on my nose.
Can we go again tomorrow?  That was sure fun!
So until next time............

I Can Do Stairs

Guess what?  I, Miss Molly, can climb stairs!  Mitch was 9 months old before he learned.  It only took me 5 months to learn.
I'm comin', mom, wait for me!
Look what I found on second floor. It's one of Mitch's beds.  He has 2 of them up here - one is in our guestroom and one is in mom and dad's bedroom.  I feel quite at home here!  Sorry if I'm messin' it up on you, Mitch.
It's time to go back down?   uhoh
It looks kinda scary. I think I'll stay right here, mom.
Well, okay - if you promise to help me.
I'm still kinda nervous about the going down part.
 I made it!  yippeeeeeeee
The sad part is that Mitch can no longer hide upstairs and get away from me and my bitey toofies.   Mom has put the gate up, which means that nobody goes up or down unless she says so.
Why does life have to be so complicated sometimes?!
 So until next time...........

MollyMuffin
