Pizzelles

Mom made pizzelles this morning for the very first time at our house in our kitchen. She's helped make them with gram before at her house in Florida but mom says that doesn't count. She was just the helper then.

Mom thinks her batter is too thick.  The directions say that you use a level tablespoon of batter and to place it in the center of the design and then close the lid of the pizzelle iron.
And of course she realized too late that you have to smush down on that handle to flatten the pizzelles and of course the last one came out half-way decent!  It was the only one.
We'll just have to practice again soon, right?!
But did I care that they didn't look perfect like the beautiful store-bought pizzelles?
Nope! It was flavorful and yummy and oh so tasty!
Nice goin', mom.  Can I please have another one?

Love ya lots,
Mitch

You are so lucky that your momma is a grown up cook and can make such beautiful Pizzelles. My moms told me how good they taste.
Yours are so beautiful-- and me and my moms wish we could come visit you and sit and enjoy some pizzelles too.
Every thing your momma does is so special... and I wanted to tell you that I am still enjoying the sock monkey mitten that you sent to me last year.

  16. They sound delicious. I wonder if you could describe the two kinds of flour? I thought I'd try making some thing like that, but we don't call sugar by that name here in Australia. I thought 'granulated sugar' was probably ordinary sugar, as used in coffee or tea, but what is 2X sugar?

  17. Somebody at momma's workplace brought those in. She says it is impossible for human ladies to eat them without getting powdered sugar on their bossums (or however you spell that).

  21. But we bet they taste a million times better than any store bought pizzelles, no matter how perfectly shaped!

PU's father was the best Pizzelle maker! he always gave lots away at Christmas-and people practically fought over them!

  23. Those look much yummier than what I first thought of when I saw the word "pizzelles." Shows how much I know. The dogs, though, would have really really liked my error!
