The Hydrangea Candle Mat

Our mom LOVES hydrangeas, especially the blue ones but right now, there aren't any blue ones blooming in our garden.   They're all pinks and purples, even though mom has been fertilizing them with acid fertilizer.
She even loves the hydrangea flowers when they get old and they turn back to a greenish.

When mom as at the Durham Fair, she got pictures of more beautiful hydrangeas!
 Now we have blue!

Mom loves her projects while she watches TV at night and this is a latest - a hydrangea wool candle mat~
So now she has blue hydrangea flowers forever ☺

So what design will you tackle next, mom?  Maybe something for the holidays?
We shall see!

So until next time.............

The Durham Fair

Mom and dad went to the Durham Fair last night and left us all alone at home.   No dogs allowed, she says.  The weatherman forecast rain - could be heavy at times with winds.  It was the perfect evening. None of that happened.  Mom says it was because she and dad both wore raincoats and she had her umbrella with her. They arrived at the very beginning of the fair and paused as our National Anthem was sung on the loud speakers.

The very first thing mom and dad did as soon as they entered the gates was eat.   The vendors make it pretty easy!
Mom waits all year for this huge sugar donut!   Yup, it was worth it ☺
And dad waits all year for his apple crisp and he said it was delicious and it was huge!  Dad had the very first apple crisp at the 2014 Durham Fair.  He was well rewarded!   He also had an order of fries and they both had steamed cheesburgers but they were so busy feeding their faces that mom forgot to take those pictures.
Hey, we thought you said no dogs allowed, mom!
This poor fireman was sitting on the roof when they got there and he was still sitting on the roof when they left~
No, he didn't buy it but he thought about it!
The quilts were gorgeous as always.
They hang from the ceiling so you can't really see the work up close.   Mom really wanted to study that peacock quilt.  The picture doesn't do it justice. It was just gorgeous!
 A dessert quilt!
And a mini for the season ☺

 The flowers were beautiful~

And the mini arrangements were adorable~
The best part of the fair - the animals!

 Yes, he's fake~
But this one is real.    He has big feathers growing on his feets!  Don't you trip when you walk, buddy?

These guys had blue powder on their butts.  hummmmmm
We asked this little girl if we could take her picture.  She sure does love her sheepie friend ♥

Do you think he needs to see his dentist?
 These goats were best buddies.
 And so were these guys~
Mom and dad finally found the huge pumpkins!

Imagine a pumpkin in your garden that size!
He would make 87 thousand pumpkin pies!
 Yup, the absolute perfect evening~
So until next time............

Our New Furnace

Mom and dad have been hard at work in our basement.   They're installing a new furnace so we currently have no heat.  It's gone down to 40 degrees at night, which has been a tad bit nippy but nothing we can't handle.

This is the old furnace that's seen her better day.
We don't get to hang out in the basement.  Mom says that the boogie woman lives down there and he likes to eat furryDales so we're staying safe up here!
Dad is hard at work installing the new furnace.
The water part of the installation is working and now dad is working on hooking up the oil line.
Now comes the electrical portion.   Dad used to work on elevators before he retired from work so this electrical work is a no-brainer for  him.
Dad painted the swing door on the front of the furnace and put in a new smart control and we have a brand new flue that hooks into the chimney. Things are looking great!

And what are we doing to keep ourselves busy upstairs?
Moose antlers, of course!

We're going to be warm and toasty this winter ☺

Moose Antlers

We got a delivery from Chewy Friday night and we couldn't wait to open up the box.  Mom said that something very yummy was in there for both of us.
Poop bags?  That's not very yummy or exciting, mom.
Now you're talkin'!  We've heard about how good moose antlers can be but we've never had them before - until now!

Look at the size of this thing. It's easily a foot long!
 Mom - Molly is guarding!
Know what?  The smaller one is actually pretty good, Molly, so you go on and enjoy the killer big one!
As it turns out, the smaller one is the more popular one. Who could have known!
These moose antlers are awesome and they'll be keeping us busy for quite awhile!

So until next time...........
