Happy Flag Day

Dad and mom have been steady workers on the front of the house.    These are the 6 over 6 windows with trim removed.  They're ready to come out and be replaced with new energy efficient ones.  They are the original windows in our 1824 house.
Dad tarpped the front of the house and he put plastic up inside to keep the dust and dirt to a minimum.     For two days before the new 12 over 12 window went in, it sounded like the traffic was coming right inside our house.   Glass really is a wonderful insulator for noise and thank goodness we didn't get any thunderstorms!  We would have been beside ourselves!  They were predicted. Neither one of us likes electrical storms.
Two new 12 over 12 windows installed.  Trim will happen this winter.  Dad is hoping that he can just rework the old trim. We'll see.
 It's coming along.
Happy Flag Day to all of our friends in the USA!

So until next time.............

Love ya lots♥

  1. Happy Flag Day and the new windows look lovely. How wonderful to live in a house from the 1800, I love that we can live in history at times. Glad you didn't get the storms, we avoided them here too, but it rained all day and night yesterday. The garden needed it but Treacle was wet every time she went out. Have a Lovely Sunday. Hugs, Treacle & Susie xx

  3. I hope you kept those windows....there are folks out there who value authentic over everything else. If they don't have an opening the right size, they will build one! Some of our neighbors in Mayemphis were that way....others wanted to know why we put "that old sink" (square pedestal) back in the new bathroom, and couldn't we have "afforded to retile the floor at least?" We lved every one of them (but particularly the ones with treats.

    Happy Flag Day!

  16. That is amazing that you still had original windows in your house. We're glad you didn't get any thunder when the windows were out.

  18. We like your cream/milk can. We have a very old one that belonged to Lee's grandfather that has his last name one it. The new insulated windows should really keep the sound out.
    Thanks for being a friend
