Harnesses are Awesome

Way back in 2008, mom bought harnesses for me and for Maggie.  Here we are heading for a hike at Sleeping Giant.
I was only a youngster at the time and I "lost" my harness pretty quickly because I pulled way too hard.  Mom was afraid that I'd pull the ring right off my new harness and off I'd go never to be seen again.
At 8 years old (almost 9), I'm finally getting to wear my harness again because I no longer pull because I'm a good boy♥
Hey, Molly,  I see your arch enemy that gives you so much grief when you pass by her house.

It's okay, Molly - she's not going to bother you.  You don't have to bite on your leash!
We make a great team, don't we, Molly.  If you didn't pull so much, you wouldn't have to wear that pinch collar like I did for years.

Check out the new tag mom bought me for my harness. I remember that day!
I had so much fun at Barktoberfest 2014.
I sure do love my harness!

Today was my appointment with Dr S, the specialist at Central Animal Hospital.
I'm not blinking my left eye  (I have no blinking reflex) and it has developed an ulcer so I will getting antibiotic drops and goopy cream 3 times a day.   I did get a prednisone taper but only by 10 mg once a day.   The long-term plan right now is that I stay on prednisone for the next 6 months and it tapers gradually.  As long as I'm on pred, I stay on the immunosuppressant, which means the blood thieves steal my blood to make sure these potent drugs don't damage my liver or any other bad stuffs.

I'm still a happy boy and I still have tons of  Airedale spirit.   While we were in the waiting room waiting to see Dr S, some small peep had the nerve to ride some nasty looking green plastic pony over to see me and he tried to pet me.    I bark, bark, barked at him and told him this was not acceptable behavior.   He backed off ☺

Tonight is pizza night at our house!  Mom says I will most definitely get an extra crust for being such a good and patient boy!

Love ya lots♥
Mitch

  1. Sounds like you had loads of Aire power! Dui has to wear an Ezy walk harness, because he was pulling too much. It was Roxy's but she used to wriggle out of it, if she saw a potential playmate. We're happy that you can wear yours again. Keep up the good work, and stay healthy.

  2. Good job on telling off that little shrunken human - they can be so annoying, Mom sympathizes with you on the prednisone - the docs have just increased hers again even though she was hoping they would decrease it. Psssss you do know there are some excellent 'no-pull' harnesses - maybe one of those would slow down the Molly :)

  5. Dear Mitch and Molly, I love your harnesses. They look very sturdy.
Hunter's has never fit him as good as it should, so in a week I'm going to take him shopping for a new one(for his birthday)and also get him some yummy treats.
Have a great week and Happy Thanksgiving; you all make the world a better place.

  8. Lightning still has to wear his Gentle Leader because he likes to pull too. Mom would love to try us in harnesses too. Yours are very nice. Mitch, we hope your eye will be OK.

  9. Hope your medicine works. Our Miss Ginger had lots of eye problems, and eventually lost her sight completely. But that never dampened her spirit. She was still a spit-fire!

  10. Mitch you and Molly had a fine day for a walk...thank goodness Mitch was there to protect you from the arch enemy who is PROBABLY way jealous of your Aire-Beauty...pay her no mind.

Mitch...we keep you in our purrs and send kitty kisses as you carry on in true Aire-spirit..you da man for sure.

OMCs if a wee peep came over to me riding a green plastic pony I'd roar and swat and who knows what all. I've never been around a wee peep.
    Hugs madi your bfff

  12. We all have harnesses too but the little girls wear Gentle Leaders because they pull too hard with the other kind.

We hope your eye responds well to the meds, Mitch. MMM is a nasty thing to go thru.

  13. Mitch we're so sorry about your eye. All paws crossed and praying for you buddy.

Lucie uses a harness. Addie is stuck with the pinch collar too. And then there is Hailey. She wears her little harness/dress but with as much as she barks and tries to "protect" the big girls when on a walk, she should wear a muzzle or better yet stay at home :)

  16. Don't the love pizza! I'm going to try to make oatmeal/apple pretzle shaped treats for Daisy this week.
So wondering I guess that 'pinch' collar works.
I've thought about a harness. Daisy pulls a lot too.
I'm glad Mitch was good with the little boy.
    What do you suggest?
    Have a great week!

  22. Hi MitchyBoy! Molly, too, Hi!! We wanted to wish you and your fam a Happy Thanksgiving. Sorry to hear that you are on Prednisone. Our mama just got tapered off of it. Hope it doesn't make you too grouchy, like it made her. You look like a good fellow using your halter...Tell Molly that she should chill, so she can graduate into Maggie's halter. It would be her honor. Our folks say we could be sled dogs, we are so good at pulling. BOL! Well, Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.
    Smooches & love,

  23. Do you know something? I, way over here on the exact opposite side of the planet, remember those walks at Sleeping Giant! I remember because I thought the name was so intriguing.

It's great to know that Dr S is able to give you such good care. Well done for continuing to live life to the full! I hope the eye drops do the job well and keep you comfortable and happy.
