Planting our Garden

Mom has been reading up on what NOT to plant in our garden if we want the plants to go uneaten by those nasty woodchucks!
Everybody knows that my mom LOVES poppies and they just happen to be one of the plants on the list so she got 2 packages of annual poppy seeds and one package of Cleome seeds.
The annual poppies can be planted in early spring so this morning, that's just what we did.  We planted them in the garden.
And mom was at Home Depot checking out what they had for plants and she found Garden Pinks, and Sage and Lavender.   The woodchucks aren't supposed to like these plants either.
She couldn't resist the Rosemary, which isn't on the list but it's another pretty strong aromatic herb.   They can't possibly like Rosemary, right?     Rosemary is considered a tender perennial in our area of the country and she can't go outside until after the danger of frost is past so she will have to hang out with the houseplants until the end of May.
We are crossing paws and fingers and hoping that the woodchucks will leave our plants alone so we can watch them grow and flower.
The sun feels so nice today~
I think I will be spending most of the day outside.  It's absolutely gorgeous here today!
Love ya lots♥
Molly

  2. I haven't had any ability to plant outside this year, so we have our greenhouse stocked with veggies and herbs. It's sort of a balance to keep things from going crazy, but we are trying to have something this year! Your photos are beautiful - good luck!

  3. What a nice selection your Mama picked!! We have rosemary here...and the voles aren't fond of it. Hopefully the woodchucks won't like it either!!

  4. Good luck with your gardening! The big problem we have around here is the Evil Squirrel Cartel. Ghostwriter used to love to plant all kinds of sunflowers until those crummy rotten squirrels started beheading them. Grrrr!

  5. I do hope those pesky woodchucks leave your plants and flowers alone. We discovered over here in the UK that a lot of preditors don't like garlic plants either which might be something to think about. You look as if you are having a lovely time in your sunshine Molly. It is cold and raining here again today and the same for tomorrow but it is hopefully going to be warmer by next weekend.

  7. Too cold here yet to plant outdoors. My tulips are coming up and I did rake the leaves.

  8. Hi Molly, We think your indoor plants look really nice, so having only indoor plants or a glass house outside might be the only way to stop those nasty woodchucks getting to your plants!

  9. Paws crossed that your new plants will keep the woodchucks away. We had a wonderful sunny week. A little cooler the next few days but our grass is so green now!!

  10. Oh Molly, your garden looks FABulous! Our problem is tree rats! They keep eating Ma's plants....or was it me....NO! This time it was not. Ma knows cause the plants that were munched on were behind the doggie fences, so I am in the clear this time! ☺
    Good luck, and keep guard!
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  11. Beautiful day. And what a beautiful watch dog! Can't wait to see your seeds sprout. I love sprouting seeds!
Domino spent most of yesterday outside with her toys. She loves her yard. We are luck no wood chucks. But she does chase the birds out of the garden for me. Don't want them eating the tomatoes!

  12. Woo hoo! Planting seeds must mean it's really springtime! I love your mom's choices. I hope that the woodchucks stay away. We have cages that we put over our raised beds to keep the hungry wildlife out of our gardens. I can't wait to see the poppies!

  15. Mom gave up on planting after we were born. She said we were too helpful. But now Dad is building her a greenhouse, though it doesn't look green to us.
