Tasty Tuesday

Thank you all so much for sending mom all kinds of good thoughts and healing vibes.  Her back is feeling much better after using the heating pad for quite some time.

Mom was at the veggie market yesterday and berries were on sale so she decided to make a Berry Cobbler.  The last time we made it, she used blueberries, raspberries and blackberries.   This time, we used strawberries, blackberries and blueberries.

To three cups of berries, add 1/3 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon lemon zest.

For the topping:

3/4 cup flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 cup milk, 1/8 cup sugar, 1/4 cup shortening, a pinch of cinnamon and a pinch of mace.

Just before adding the biscuit topping, dot berries with several pats of butter.

Bake 375 degree oven for 30 minutes.

The camera flash made the topping appear much whiter that it really is.

Open wide, Duke. Incoming raspberry!
This is really good, mom!
Happy Tuesday!

Love ya lots♥
Duke

  1. Our mom likes to eat the berries just as they are no sugar, no toppings, just a bowl of mixed berries out of the fridge because it is so refreshing. Hope you both enjoyed your cobbler.

The berry cobbler sounds absolutely delicious too, and the mix of strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries is such a perfect seasonal combination. πŸ“πŸ’™

  12. YUM. Anything "triple berry" finds it's way onto our table ... glad your Mommies back is better, mine Mommy is always putting funny-big-patches on all her many "hurty parts", back included [it's cause she's old and lots of parts hurty].
