A Book Tag

Blue tagged us to list our five favorite books! This is a really hard one because there are so many good ones that we love!

One of our very favorites is probably one that most of you haven't seen unless you're an Airedale. It's called "To Aire Is Divine" and it's real-life hysterically funny stories from the members of an online Airedale email group called Airedale-L. Anytime mom needs a belly laugh - this is the book she'll choose to read! She says it reminds her SOOOOOOOO much of us and all of our delightful daily antics!

This next book is becoming one of Mitch's favorites. The book is called, "Wake up, Mr. B.!" by Penny Dale. It's another Airedale story that's mostly pictures! The illustrations are just precious and mom pulls this one off the bookshelf everytime the quilting bee decides to do another quilt. I can't tell you how many times we've looked at this book!

One of mom's very favorites is "The Thorn Birds" by Colleen McCullough. She reads this book every year when she's sitting under the beach umbrella on Nantucket listening to that wonderful surf and the squeals of children building their sand castles. The movie is good but the book is better in mom's opinion!

Another one that we all love is "Stuart Little" - by E.B.White. What a wonderful creation this is and the movies are just adorable too!

Another book that's on our favorite's list is "The Christmas Box" - by Richard Paul Evans. If you've never read this book it's a "must read". It will only take you a couple of hours and you'll feel soooo wonderful afterwards!

These are our five book choices and I can tell you that it wasn't easy! We could go on and on and on with our favorite book list! So now we'll choose Putter, Ruby, Nanook and Pooka, Wally and Asta. Put your thinking caps on and tell us your 5 favorite books!

Poor Wubba!

Oh no! Look what Mitch did to my Wubba! He ripped him up!
The tennis ball is exposed and that's pretty much shredded too! Now mom is going to toss him! Mom tried to buy Wubba a little bit more time by cutting off the covering and exposing a pretty blue ball that squeaks and Mitch is just thrilled with this!

I'm not - my Wubba is gone! I'm so bummed!

I'm sorry Maggie - I really am! I didn't mean it! I was just having so much fun with him! Don't be mad at me please! I'm truly sorry!

With a face like this, who can stay mad for long!

Another Special Birthday Pressie

I got yet another birthday pressie in the mail today! This time it was from Sunshade and Jaffa and their mom, Miss Elaine! Sunshade is a very special Airedale friend and if it wasn't for her, mom and I would never be blogging! It was our good fortune the day we discovered her blog. I didn't have a blog back then. Mom found Sunshade's blog through our Yahoo Airedale group and started to read it and fell in love with it! She would comment on the postings until one day Sunshade's mom asked my mom why she didn't start one for me. Mom gave her the "well, I don't know" answer - thought about it for a couple of days and the rest is history! Mom is a scardy cat when it comes to anything new that involves the computer. She hates to be frustrated!
I'm so glad everything worked out because we now know all of you and life couldn't possibly be any better! We love each and every one of our blogging buddies!


So back to my birthday pressie!
You have to see my new collar! OMG are the diamonds blinding you or what?! I've never had anything this fancy before! Mom says that I have to be very careful to always keep it nice and pretty and new! That means you'd better not even THINK about putting your teeth on it Mitch! Mom says all I need now is a diamond tiara and I'll be ready to meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace!
Sunshade and Jaffa also sent fancy silver photo tags to go on our collars. The photos are of us! They are SO COOL!!!

Can you see my face? On the flip side it says "Happy Birthday Maggie - Love, Sunshade" I love it and I already have it on my collar! I feel so special Sunshade! Thank you ever so much!

Boy did I ever score on the collars this year for my birthday! I love collars! Mom changes them all the time!

Jaffa sent Mitch a tag too - gosh, it's not even his birthday yet! Mitch's tag says "To My Buddy Mitch - Love Jaffa" and on the other side is Mitch's picture! Mitch has his tag on too and it looks just stunning. We need to go somewhere really special to show off our new jewelry!

And we weren't the only ones who got gifts! Mom got a beautiful key chain with our pictures on it! The same pictures are on our tags. Maybe you can see them better in this picture. This is one of the cards that Sunshade and Jaffa and Miss Elaine signed wishing both me and mom happy birthday!

You're probably wondering why the package of M&M's is there, right? On the back of the key chain is says, "Who doesn't love a couple of M&M's??" BTW, the M&M's are history at this point! Thank goodness mom already got a picture! hehehehehe And no, mom was a piggy and didn't share with us - not even one! Mean mommy!

You can't see the picture of the Airedale because my big furry head is in the way but that's where Sunshade and Jaffa signed their names! Thank you so much Sunshade and Jaffa and Miss Elaine! Mom and I can't tell you how special your gifts are and how much they mean to us!

This has been the best birthday I've ever had in my whole life! I just can't believe yet another birthday package arrived! I'm the luckiest girl on the face of this earth! Thank you so much to all of you who sent me pressies and wished me happy birthday! I love you all! You are all just so special!

Mitch's Smile a Thank You and Time Capsule

Mitch asked if he could please post his winning smile for all the world to see and I said yes!

Hi Guys - it's me, Mitch!!

Mom just told me that we were going for ice cream! That ALWAYS makes me smile!Here I am in Maggie's crate. She's a very generous sister with letting me have her bed whenever I want it. It has lots more cushy padding in there then mine does. Thanks Maggie! I'm a happy boy!

This is my grandpa smile. Mom and dad get the BIGGEST kick out of this smile. They swear I have my lower dentures in for this picture! What are dentures?Thank you for letting me post three pictures Maggie! I really appreciate it! You're turn to speak! Woof! hehehehe

You're going to get sick of hearing me say this but at 11AM the mailman went and yet another package arrived! OMG, am I the luckiest girl or what??!! This time the package was from Huskee. It had both my name on the envelope and Mitch's name so we let the little man do the honors this time!It took forever for Mitch to take his head out of the bag so we could see what Huskee sent. When he finally did all I can say is OMG look at all of these treats! The smell of the jerky was overwhelming! When do we get to open up the packages and dig in mom?

Mitch seemed to like the cheese treats the best. He was laying on the floor trying to get the bag open before mom noticed and took it away for safe keeping! You're such a chow hound!

Huskee also sent me a hand made birthday card with a cake sticker on it and lots of colorful stamps. It's very pretty and very creative and it has Huskee's manly smell all over it! Thank you sooooooo much Huskee! You are so thoughtful to think of me on my birthday. I really and truly appreciate it!

Sitka tagged me for the Time Capsule game. Apparently how it works is - If you doggies and Girl girl were going to make a time capsule to be opened some time in the future what would you put in there for the doggies/hamsters of the future? Name five important things that you would include and then pass it on to five other friends." I think this is a really cool game so Mitch and I have been thinking hard about this one and this is what we came up with.

1. Our purple ice cream shovels that Putter gave us - so all doggies of the future know that shovels hold more than spoons!

2. Mr. Carrot - the future generations must know about this wonderful squeaky orange man!

3. Marrow bones - Mitch and I both agree that marrow bones have to be included in the time capsule.

4. Our walkie leashes - you have to exercise to stay fit and have fun while you're doing it and we sure do!

5. Nylabones - Mitch loves all of his nylabones and says that they're a MUST for the time capsule!

Smile for the Camera and Thanks

Huskee Boy tagged me to show off my pearly whites! I have no problem doing this seeing as I do it all the time well, lots of the time!

I smile when I'm in the kitchen and mom is preparing a meal and I know that something yummy will come my way!

And I can smile when I"m playing with Mitch MOST of the time - when he's not stealing my toys and teasing me with them and then running off! Look at that little goof playing peek-a-boo!

This is my Sunshade smile! Mom says there's a picture of Sunshade floating around on her blog somewhere and this picture of me reminds her of Miss Sunshade - it's something in the eyes!So now I'm going to tag Putter, and Avery and Sunshade and Jaffa! Show us your famous smiles!

Our mailman was right on time again today! Mom and I both got a pressie from Reina! The package was addressed to both me and Mitch. Thank you, Reina - Mitch feels so special that you put his name on the outside of the package!

Check out the treats that Reina sent. I can't read the label - only the bow wow part so we know they're for dogs and not mom - but they sure do smell good and I can't wait to cut the top off the package and dig in!

Reina also sent me this beautiful polka dot summer collar! Is this my best side? Doesn't it compliment my fur nicely! Thank you so much! You have lovely taste!

Reina also sent a leash to match!

Pretty soon I'm going to need my own closet just for my collar collection!

Reina and her family also sent mom a gift. It's a beautiful little floral sewing kit that you carry in your purse just in case you lose a button while you're out. There are safety pins in there and little tiny sissors and thread and all sorts of useful sewing things! It's just so cute! Thank you so much! Mom just loves it and will use it for sure! You couldn't have chosen a more perfect gift!
Reina also sent a beautiful card. It's says, "Hello Maggie! Happy Barkday! I want to wish your mom a very happy birthday too! (Thank you so much Miss Reina, mom totally appreciates this!) I got you a polka dot collar and leash and I really hope you will like it!(I do, I do, I love it!)
You can share the treats with Mitch maybe (if he's a good boy! hehehehe) (So far he's being good Reina!) I also got your wonderful mum a pressie! The little box that's all wrapped up! Hope you will enjoy this special day! Lots of Love, Reina and family

Cirque Du Sol ' Aire

The Airedale quilting bee has just announced their newest quilt for 2007! It absolutely is one of the most fun quilts that mom has done to date!

This Big Top theme was decided on last year. It takes the bee a whole year to plan one of these quilts!

The circus quilt idea was selected because all of the Airedale bee moms agree that we're just big goofy clowns!

Once the ladies have their theme, everyone decides what they want their Airedale to do under the Big Top! I decided that I wanted to be a clown in a tiny car.

The quilters are all given a block size and Christie, the bee's designer, sends background fabrics out to each of the quilters so that their blocks all blend once the entire quilt is sewn together. Mom and all the quilters have to stay within a specific color scheme and they're off and running! Mom loves shopping at the fabric store! That woman can stay gone for HOURS when she's shopping for Airedale quilt material!

Mom didn't draw her own pattern. Linda Hobbit drew it for her. She's drawn several of mom's blocks. She's a very talented artist! Drawing is not one of mom's strong points.

That's the best part of being involved with the bee, mom says - everyone works together for the same cause!

Once mom finishes with her block, it's shipped to Christie so she can assemble all the blocks into this awesome quilt and then the quilt travels to yet another bee member who actually does the quilting! It's a big process but well worth everyone's efforts!

Naming the quilt is always fun too! So many great ideas are thrown out there and the group has to narrow it down to the perfect choice!

Mom feels so fortunate to be a part of the bee and to be able to work with all of these talented ladies and to turn out a project that will benefit all the Airedales in need!

I just wanted to share the latest Airedale quilting bee project with you all. I hope you enjoy seeing it as much as mom enjoyed working on it!

My Birthday Continues...............

It's not over yet! This is day two of the most fun I've ever had!

Mitch and I had our frosty paws last night! I still can't figure out why the woman used her good china??? It's useless to me!

Hey, this is pretty good stuff mom and I did an awesome job mixing these babies up!

Mine's all gone already- bummer! It was way too small! I've have another please!
We made more than two Maggie and the weather is still pretty hot and unbearable here! Let's cross our paws that mom shares more of these frosty treats tonight, okay?

Putter's mom was at our house today! No, she didn't bring Putter - sorry - but she did bring both me and mom a pressie!

This smells good! I wonder what's inside?

Treats! Sorry that mom didn't get a picture! I downed them pretty quickly!

The pink ball is called a Powzer and it's supposed to glow in the dark. I can't wait till tonight to have mom shove it underneath the lamp and see what happens!

This other colorful toy talkes to me like Wiggly Giggly does. It's called a Quirkies Roly Poly by Booda. I'm not the only one who loves this toy! So does Mitch! You're shocked to hear this, right?! haha

There were also two purple shovel spoons in the birthday box for ice cream! I can't wait till the next time we have some to try them out! These shovels will come in mighty handy! Look how much they hold!Putter gave me a cute card too!

I hope you ate lots of cake and frosty paws too!!

And look what her mom made my mom for her birthday! It's a framed collage of all photos of me and Mitch! Mom and dad both love it! Mom will be looking for that perfect spot to hang it!

And that's not all of the exciting news for today! The mailman went again around 11AM and today he brought an envelope from Lee and Tris - the Airechicks in TX!!

What is this mom? I've never seen anything like this before!

My Ninth Birthday

Today is my birthday!!! I'm nine years old! I am SOOOO excited! I can't wait to get today started!

My day started out with our walkie. Mom shortened it a bit because it's really hot out there today!

After we got home and settled for a little while, mom told me she had a surprise for me - a package from her, dad and Mitch! Oh boy! What can it be??? Tennis balls on a rope! Awesome mom! I bet I know who picked this toy out! He had himself in mind, didn't he??!! heheheheh

See that pretty bandana that I'm wearing? That's a gift from Boy and Baby. Butchy and Snickers mom made it! Isn't it just beautiful! My favorite color is purple! You can see that Mitch has already slobbered on it! I think he's jealous! Thank you so much Boy and Baby! I love my new bandana!What? There's another one in there??? hummmmmmmmm let me see................

I think Mitch is a little impatient with me!

Mitch has been driving me nuts for a whole 24 hours now with "I've got a secret, I've got a secret!" Okay Mitch - so what's the secret?

OMG my own birthday cake. Seriously? And you and mom baked it for me yesterday and you actually kept the secret! I'm impressed!

Yummy! This is just delicious! Sorry I'm making a piggy of myself! Why is the plate there mom? I don't need it! I'll just smear this fabulous frosting all over the rug!

Hey mom - this cake tastes better now that it's been baked - much better than raw ingredients and the frosting is pretty tasty too! Why did she put plates on the floor Maggie?

That was the best cake ever Mitch! What a happy birthday I'm having! You and mom were sure sweet to make this for me. Thank you so much Mitch!

Right after my birthday cake I was feeling like I really needed to relax and chill out! Hey, it's my birthday and I'm enjoying every single moment!

Around 11AM the mailman went! I always bark when he goes so that mom will leash me up and take me for a pee break on the way to the mail box. Today was even more fun! I got 3 more birthday pressies! woooooohoooooooo This is such fun! I'm am sure loving today BIGTIME!!!!

The first pressie we opened was a card from Butchy and Snickers but it was more than just a card! They sent me a coupon for a choice of a t-shirt, sleeveless t-shirt or a bandana! OMG now I have to make a choice and everything in their store is just so wonderful! Decisions, decisions.......

Their card is just awesome too! It's hand made by their mom and it's so colorful and creative! My mom says she sure wishes she had these same computer skills that your mom has! Thank you so much Butchy and Snickers! I'll be making up my mind and writing to you soon!

The next package was from Boo! Mitch was drooling before we even got the package open! If it's one thing Mitch will learn from all of this, it's the words "Sit Mitch, it's Maggie's birthday not yours!" That's right mom!

Boo's package was FULL of treats. Boo wrote a note saying that his mom has been so busy and he couldn't send me anything special except treats! You're kidding, right Boo? Treats ARE special! Ask any doggy! Thank you soooooooooo much Boo! Mom says we're not opening them today cause we're already porked out on cake and the frosty paws are still to come!

The last package came all the way from England from my Airedale buddy Oscar! Oscar sent me the most beautiful pink collar and leash that he picked out himself! He wrote me a note that says, "I picked out this pretty collar and lead for your barkday as I thought it would make you look even more beautiful (if that's possible). I'm totally blushing here Oscar!

I absolutely LOVE the collar and lead Oscar! I've never had a pink collar before and mom keeps telling me how pretty I look in pink! Excellent choice! Oscar also sent treats! If we're not careful, Mitch and I are going to be fat!

Thank you so much Oscar! I can't wait to go for a walkie tomorrow and show off my new collar and leash!

Mom put together a collage of my cards for me. First off you have to know that mom only got TWO cards(one from Aunt Carol and one from Aunt Cathy,well and Putter's mom too, okay that's three) - the rest were for me! Oops - backing up here - yes, today is my mom's birthday too! BTW she is older than 9!
Oh yes, I almost forgot- mom got an online card from my sister Missy and from her friend Dorothy.
I got birthday cards from Putter and her mom and dad and Girl girl and Boy and Baby (along with their gorgeous purple bandana that you saw me modeling) and Faya (along with her box of toys and treats) and Butchy and Snickers (along with their coupon) and my precious notes from Oscar and Boo! Okay, so we both scored pretty good in the card department come to think of it!

I sure did hit the jackpot this birthday and I haven't even had the frosty paws yet that mom and Mitch made yesterday! It's such a hot day here and they are going to taste sooooooo good! I'll post about that tomorrow.
