Wheelie Wednesday - Welcome Home

Hi everyone! It's me, Autumn!
I'm so happy to have Maggie and Mitch home!
I couldn't wait to give Maggie a kiss and tell her how much I missed her!
And the same goes for Mitchy! Kisses alongside that cute black nose, MitchyBoy!
I sure did miss the both of them!
And I couldn't wait to hear all about their trip! I did keep up with their blog while they were gone so I knew about all of the ice cream they had and all of the walkies down to the beach in the morning and all of the walkies through town twice a day!
But I wanted to hear more, you know, the good stuff!
So we gathered around and had a nice long chat!
The family didn't visit the cemetery this year like they always do and they didn't take photos on the beach at Brant Point lighthouse and I wanted to know why not.
It seems that Maggie had a much harder time this year getting around than she's ever had before. She got tired a lot more easily than in past years and mom and dad had to make sure that she got longer breaks so she could rest up and regroup for the next adventure. Dad suggested leaving Maggie at the house one afternoon and mom freaked! No way was mom going to upset her little girl by not including her! It would have broken her heart to be left home alone and this would have broken mom's heart! They just kept everything to a slower pace!
And then there was the incident when the dishwasher repair man showed up and Mitch charged the door to tell him that he was in the house and don't mess with him and Maggie couldn't get her feet underneath her! Mom had to lift Maggie to a standing position to help her out.
No, they didn't blog about that part but they did share it with me! I wish my sissy wouldn't get older! I want her to stay young forever!

I also heard about a ooopsie incident where a certain brand new never-been-washed-yet comforter got snagged by a certain little boy's long toenails and a replacement had to be found quickly!
And now I have a confession to make! I didn't keep up my end of the bargain and weed the vege garden every day like I was supposed to! I kinda had too much fun chatting with LOTS of friends and having LOTS of tea pawties and well, the garden is very overgrown and not looking too tidy! I have no idea where to begin! The weeds are too overwhelming so this garden will be looking pretty awful until frost when we can clean it up and put it to bed for the winter!
It seems that nasty tomato fungus blight has finally hit our garden too and the only tomatoes that seem to be doing okay so far are the heirloom Pineapples and the Dimes! How sad! We only had fresh tomato sauce once this year! And we planted so much basil! I guess we'll be making pesto!
I"m so glad the family is home and everything has returned to normal!

See you all next Wednesday!

Love, Autumn

Our New Fancy Dishes

Look what mom bought us at Petco yesterday!
Our other once were showing signs of rust around the bottom and mom didn't like that so she tossed them!
These are much higher and pretty easy to eat out of! Gosh, we barely even have to lean over!
Yes, we are eating in a fireplace pit! We have 2 fireplaces in our kitchen and we've never used either one of them since we've lived here and it's been over 25 years! My crate used to be right in this exact spot and it stayed here for years until mom finally decided that I really wasn't using it anymore and put it away! Our food and water bowls used to hang off the side of my crate but once it was gone, mom had to come up with an alternative plan!
She even got Mitch's brakefast bowl to work although it really doesn't slow him down much!
That boy eats way too fast and mom is always quick to remind me that when I was younger, I did too!
Thanks, mom! You made it much easier on an older girl like me!
We love our new fancy dishes!

So until next time.............

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

Going Home

Our last day was on the Island was a super fun day - just like all of the other days that we've had!
Dindin was as Something Natural and dad decided on the smoked turkey and provolone sandwich again! We also hit Stars for ice cream and dad said that his strawberry sundae was so good the first time around that he was going to get the same thing again and he did! And this time mom got butter pecan instead of heavenly hash so we got some of her ice cream too!

This morning we were up at 4AM organizing and packing the car to board the ferry at 6:30AM.
This is Nantucket as the ferry is pulling away from the dock! We're looking behind us and we're so sad to see the Island getting smaller and smaller as we get farther away!
And here we're looking ahead of us towards Cape Cod! That big wall on your left is the side of the ferry!
We miss you already, Nantucket! Our trip on the ferry is just over 2 hours and Mitch is trying his best to get dad to take him for a walkie so he can check out the other doggies on board!
Mitch won! Dad did take him for that walk!
I was happy just to wait quietly with mom!
This has been one fun vacation and we are POOPED!We just need a few more minutes, mom, and we'll be ready for our next fun adventure!
We're a bit behind on reading blogs so please be patient with us as we make the rounds and try to catch up! Thanks to all of you for following us along on our Nantucket vacation! You guys made it even more fun for us!

So until next time................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

New Aquaintances and Stars

We thought it might be fun to show you some of the doggies that we've been introduced to while we're on our stroll through the streets of town!

This is Tank and he's an English Bulldog! We met this cute pair of Westies in front of the pharmacy!
I got to say hi to this handsome Lab boy!
We were meeting a black Lab and she was being most submissive and rolling around on the ground and mom happened to look up and look who she saw! An Airedale! She was sitting in her car and waiting for her hoomans to return!
We were so hoping to chat with her owners but we didn't get the chance! Bummer!

Mitch wasn't too sure what to make of this Norwich Terrier!

OMG, Mitch, I think you scared the snot out of him! hehehe He's out cold!

Guess what? I found my boat strolling on the docks today!
Tonight mom and dad took us to Stars for ice cream! This is our second trip there!
OMG, look what dad got! A strawberry sundae in the waffle cone! And mom got heavenly hash ice cream, which was pretty much all goey chocolate that we can't have! We think she was being mean to us on purpose!

We're on our way back to the house! We're just exhausted from having too much fun!Today is our last day on Nantucket! We've got to make it a special one!

So until next time.............

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

True Colors Thursday - Rainbow

It's true colors Thursday here on Nantucket! If you want to be a part of this fun, let our hostess, Blue know!

Today's color is RAINBOW!

This blankie was crocheted by mom's great-grandmother for our sissy when she was born! We snagged the picture before we left home just in case Nantucket didn't have any
RAINBOW!
The cradle has been in mom's family for years!

This is a painting of me and it was done by the famous, Miss Barbara a few years back! It's full of RAINBOW colors! This RAINBOW bag holds all of our personal items in it while we're here on Nantucket - toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo - the stuff that makes the hoomans smell good and look decent!
Mom has had this bag FOREVER!
This is a boutique shop window on Nantucket!
These balloons were in front of Claire Murray!
This was a menu in front of one of the restaurants along our walkie! Nope, we didn't eat there! Seeeeeeeeee, there's rainbow on Nantucket too!

Next week's color is mauve!

So until next time................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

The Fun and Sunshine Continues

Look what Mitch found on our walkie this morning! It's an apple and he found it on a side street just out of the center of town! Mitch is one happy boy!
We go into town every single morning and we stroll through the streets and window shop until dad buys his newspaper and then we head home for lunch! Going into town is fun! You never know what new doggie friends you might run into!Today mom wanted to stop at Geronimo's! It's a dog store and she said that have pretty good stuff in there for this small Island! She surprised us with peanut butter cookies! They look like Nutter Butter's without the cream filling, don't they - and we think they taste pretty yummy and they're BIG!
We had dindin again at Something Natural. This time it was egg salad and chive on homemade rye bread! We love when mom and dad go to to dindin here because we always get to go too! Last night we saw another English Bulldog! His name was Lincoln!

And after that we were back in town and doing some more window shopping and look who we saw sittin' in the window - it's Joe Stains!
We invited Joey to have ice cream with us but he said that he wasn't allowed to leave his post! Maybe tomorrow, Joey!

Tonight's ice cream shop was located across the street from the Whaling Museum!
Mom had peppermint stick and dad had maple walnut and we got to sample both flavors!
We need to make sure we get every drop! This stuff is too good to waste!

So until next time...............

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

Sunshine and Ice Cream

We did get to Something Natural for our picnic!

And while dad was deciding and waiting for dindin to be made, mom shared chips!

Dindin was smoked turkey with bacon and provolone cheese and lettuce, tomato and mayo and it's made on homemade herb bread! yummmmmm
The sandwiches are so big here that mom and dad split one! After our picnic dindin, we strolled through town and had more fun checking out the shop windows! This weiner doggie collectible reminded of our friend, Lorenza!

And I got my picture taken with a pirate!

And mom saw a bright yellow Smart car! Mom would love to own one of these! She thinks they're so cute but where would we sit, mom? It's way too small!

And then it was time for ice cream!
Mom got Pistachio nut and dad had strawberry and we got a taste of each kind! Can you tell we're the happiest Airedales on the planet?! And this was our view while we had our ice cream!

We can't wait to see what's in store for us today!
So until next time...........
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
