Middle Name Meme

Snickers tagged me, Maggie, for the middle name meme.

Here are the rules:

1. You have to post the rules before you give your answers.

2. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use your maiden name or your mother's maiden name).

3. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag one person (or blogger of another species) for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged.)

My name is Magapee BriddleBritt and Britt is not my last name so I have one long middle name!

B - Beautiful
R- Regal
I- Ice Princess at times
D- Delightful
D- Digging Queen, when mom isn't yelling at me
L- Lovely
E- Egotistical
B- Brilliant
R- Ravenous always

I hope everyone is ready for this! I need to tag 12 doggies! Ben the Rotti, River, Ike, Dexter (Mango's brother), Deetz, Lucy, Eric, Brutus, Roots, Isis, Tess (Noah's sister) and Taffy (Molly's brother).

This tag has already made its rounds once so we tried to select a lot of new faces!

The French Baby Bonnet

Last year at Easter Mitch was only 4 months old and mom got away with dressing him up in this cute but very sissy hat for a little boy!

Yes, we know - he was just adorable but clearly no boy should really be dressed up in this pink bonnet! I'm supposed to be the big sister looking out for his best interests but it was just so darn funny to see him like this! hehehehe

So now the shoe is on the other foot! I'm getting older and I don't mind stuff being put on my head as much as I used to! Mom says that old age has it's advantages! Excuse me! Who are you calling OLD??!! Do I look like Old Mother Hubbard here while dad is chanting Nonna, Nonna, Nonna!

This was actually my hooman sissy's baby bonnet way back when!

What do you think, Mitch? Now it's your turn to snicker at me!

Many of you asked for the Easter Meat pie recipe so we decided to post it!

Easter Meat Pie

1 ham steak - it's whatever size you want to use. Mom buys the thin ones in the package where you find the bacon. We've used Canadian bacon instead of ham before too!
1 package of salami - there were about 30 round slices in the package 1/4 pound of proscuitto
1 basket of basket cheese
1 cup of ricotta
6 eggs
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
salt and pepper to taste
Optional - mom has added cappicola before, you can add sausage if you like too!

Dice all your meats as tiny as you can, without making yourself mental. Dice the basket cheese too!
In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta with the eggs and add your cheese and salt and pepper.
Then gently toss them all together and pour into the prepared pan.

Line a 13" X 9" pan or a 10" pie plate with uncooked pie crust. Pour in your meat pie mixture and add your lattice crust. Bake at 350 degrees for at least 1 1/2 hours. Check it after this amount of time and if you still see that the center is jiggly, give it another 10 minutes. Mom used to poke a knife in the center till it came out clean but if you just bake it till it's a nice brown, it's done! You really can't over bake it - but you can under bake it! We've done that before! Enjoy!

This is another one of Carol Usher's creations! Mom just loves her work!

So until next time...........

Easter Dinner

Mom and I made an Easter Rice pie Saturday! This pie is traditionally made at Easter and my Italian Nonna made it every single year. Mom says hers is still the best and always will be but we do have her recipe and we now make it every single year too!

It's really a very simple dessert to make and it's so easy! We thought we'd share the recipe with you!

Easter Rice Pie

1 pound ricotta
3/4 cup sugar
4 eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup cooked rice (We used Minute rice this time but most of the time we use Uncle Ben's brand) 1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix all the above ingredients together pretty much in the order they're listed. We shook a couple of shakes of cinnamon into the mixture too and we also added about 1/4 teaspoon of rum extract. We also added a couple of shavings of orange peel. You can also add shavings of chocolate if you'd like too but then the furchildren can't have any!

Pour this liquidy mixture in a well-greased 8"X8" pan with higher sides or in a 9" pie plate - This pie doesn't require a crust! yahoooooooooo

Bake 350 degrees for about an hour. Poke a knife in the center and make sure it comes out clean! Enjoy!

Sunday morning mom and I were in the kitchen once again and this time we made lazanne! It's our Easter dinner. We also had a piece of our Easter meat pie and salad!

Time to dig in, right?!

What do you think, Mitch? You worked hard all day in the workshop with the boys! How did mom and I do with our Easter dindin?

I guess the picture tells the story! I'm a pretty decent cook, huh! Is it time for Rice pie yet, mom?!

We hope your Easter was as delicious as ours!

So until next time...............

A Striking Resemblance and Easter Pie

Mom bought a painting on ebay recently. She loves the painting and it reminds her of someone we all know!

What do you think?

Isn't the resemblance too cool?! Did you guess right? We think the paint looks almost exactly like Cassidy!

Mom is making her Easter meat pie today and I'm elected to be the official helper and taste-tester! Mitch is out in the workshop hanging with dad and his friend, Bob, so it's just us girls in the kitchen!

To make this pie mom has to dice ham and salami and prosciutto and basket cheese into teeny tiny pieces. Everyone always wants to know what basket cheese is. It's a soft white cheese that comes in a plastic basket! If it has another name, mom has no idea what it is!

I can assure you that this cheese is very good eating right out of the basket! yummmmm Mom says she much prefers it in the pie!

The pie also has 6 eggs, and 1 cup of ricotta and parmesan cheese and salt and pepper in there! Here it is all mixed together!

And now it's my turn to make sure the seasoning is just perfect before it goes into the baking dish! By the way, I had a haircut yesterday so I'm all spiffy for the Easter bunny!

This pie has a crust and mom doesn't "do" crusts! The two of them just don't get along so she buys the crust and rolls it out thinner if she needs a round crust to fit in a rectangular-shaped pan! Can you see the Airedale heads she cut out of dough and put on top of the pie? I'm the bigger one and Mitch is the smaller one! Mom says, "yea, right!"
The pie bakes for almost 2 hours~

Hey, Maggie! What happened to the other Airedale head that was on the pie? I think he sunk! OOPS!!!!

This smells really good! I hope mom shares 2 BIG pieces with us!

Mom didn't share BIG pieces but she did share!

Happy Easter, everybody!

So until next time............

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

Who's the REAL Easter Bunny

Hi everybody! It's me - Mitchy boy!

Maggie and I met the Easter bunny today only.................. I thought I was the Easter bunny? Mom keeps telling me that I am!

What do you think, Maggie? Who is the real Easter bunny - her or me?

Maggie said that to be honest with you, Mitch, you're much cuter than her and you smell more like a real bunny too!
Thank you, Maggie! I knew it all along! She is the imposter! I am the real Easter bunny here!

Now I can rest easy!

I have news to share. Yesterday for my Gotcha day dad took us all to Rhode Island! We visited with friends who have 2 horses and one of them came over to say hi to us! His name is Jigger and he's an American Quarter horse.

I got to go right up to his face and say hi rather loudly and rudely! Good thing he was friendly or I think I might have been in trouble because he is a rather big boy!
We also got to explore the grounds and Maggie and I found a pile of horse poo and the yummiest looking cabbage and lettuce and grapefruits and oranges only the evil mom wouldn't let us sample it! She said that this was the compost pile and it was off limits to us!
Dad also took us all out for lunch and I got to have Rhode Island clam cakes for the very first time in my life! OMG, are these things ever yummy!

I'd say I had a pretty darn good special day yesterday! I'm sure one lucky boy! I wish every day could be my gotcha day!

So until next time...............

Yer friend,

Mitch

Mitch's Gotcha Day

Today is one year since dad walked into the workshop with Mitch and suprised me and mom! And we do mean SURPRISED!!!!

Mom and my hooman sister, Missy had seen Mitch in a pet store when they were shopping for her mother-of-the-bride dress. Mom went home and told dad that there was a 4 month old Airedale puppy in the pet store and the rest is history. Little did she know that dad was on the phone finding out everything he could about Mitch and making arrangements for our new family member!

Looking back now it was sure tough! I was an "only" furchild for 8 1/2 years and I liked it that way! It was quite a change for me to have a new frisky puppy brother! Today Mitch is almost 16 months old and I wouldn't send him back for all the money in the world! I love my brother!

Yes, we have our differences and our squabbles but what siblings don't, right? He's the best thing that ever happened to me! I have a best friend for life!

This is one of the first pictures taken of my new baby brother! awwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Thinking back though, that first month was very difficult for me! Those needle teeth are sure sharp! I kept waiting for Mitch to leave and go back to where he came from! But he didn't! He stuck it out with us!
My toys have never been the same since he arrived! He's destroyed so much and he's STILL destroying them!

He was a garbage boy then and he's still a trash collector! He'll pick up anything he finds on the side of the road and bring it home!

By the way, his alcohol problem has become a lot worse in one years' time!

He sure did settle in quite nicely! He's only been here one week in this picture!

As I said, Mitch, you're one of the very best things that's ever happened to me! I love you, bro! Happy Gotcha day!

Life would never be the same without you! And mom and dad totally agree! That's daddy's boy!

Yesterday a package came in the mail with both of our names on it! It was from Keeley! Mom helped us open the box and there were treats in there! OMG - fishy training treats and cheesy liver treats! Mom opened the fishy training treat package and we got to try them!

They are absolutely the yummiest things we've ever eaten, Keeley! Even mom took a sniff and wanted to try one out! She didn't though - don't worry! Keeley also put a note in there that reads: "Guess what?! I'm 2 years old now! I wish you didn't live so far away so that you could be here to celebrate my birthday with me! I asked my grandpa to make some of his special dog biscuits for you so that you could still be in on the festivites. Hope you like them!

We LOVE them Keeley and we wish that we could have come to your birthday pawty! We were with you in spirit though - you can be sure of that! Thank you so much! That was sure sweet of you to think of us!

We're off to celebrate Mitch's gotcha day!

So until next time........

Love ya lots,

Maggie

Koobie's Easter Bonnet Contest

We read about Koobie's Easter bonnet contest she's having to welcome spring and we couldn't wait to put our thinking caps on and see what we could come up with!
This morning mom grabbed the hat that she wears to the beach when we go to Nantucket and she grabbed some silk flowers and started to "create". This is my Easter bonnet to welcome spring! Do you think you could have fit a few more flowers on there, mom?! It looks like the entire garden is on my head!

Mitch saw my hat and he wanted to get in on the action too! Mom and I both thought that he should be wearing a baseball cap and seeing as spring is all about flowers, this is what we came up with! He thinks he looks too girly!

Mitch wanted to see his hat on my head so I was only too happy to please him!

Mom was at Michael's craft store a couple of days ago and she saw these really nifty bunny ears and she just couldn't resist so here we are modeling bunny ears too!

Mom only bought one pair of ears so we have to take turns! Maybe we can both have a pair for next year mom??!!

Only one more week till the Easter bunny comes and just a few more days till the official start of spring!

So until next time................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

Huskee Loves Baby

We have been invited to the wedding of the year - Huskee Boy and Baby Yeo!

What a scare Baby gave us a couple of weeks ago! OMG! We're so glad she's back and is safe and home where she belongs! So onto the wedding! whoooooooohoooooooo

The bride and groom have chosen a "Once upon a time" theme!

Mitch and I put our heads together and decided that I will go as Maggie had a little lamb. You know the nursery rhyme - Mary had a little lamb, its fleece was white as snow......... Yup, that's the one!
Mitch thought that Little boy Blue would suit him perfectly. Remember Little boy blue come blow your horn, the sheep's in the meadow, the cow's in the corn? That's Mitch! By the way, Mitch's horn is a moo tube!
Just a minute here, Mitch! You're scaring my lamb! Leave her alone! She's part of my costume for the wedding!

No you can't have her! She goes with Maggie had a little lamb, not Little Boy Blue! You can't change the story, Mitch! It's been like that for a zillion years!

We are so excited about this wedding! It was postponed because of Baby's mishap and now that she's safe once again we feel certain that Huskee and Baby are beside themselves with happiness!

Time to pawty! See you all at the wedding!

I see AireRuby! We're down here, Ruby! We'll be outside to greet you when you land! Watch out for the ponds!

So until next time..............

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch
