Nonna's Rice Pie

Mom and I were busy in the kitchen this morning.   We are making Nonna's Rice Pie for Easter dindin tomorrow~
I am always the official taste tester!
It's perfect, mom - exactly the right amount of ingredients!
If you don't like to make pie crust and you like a simple easy to make pie that works for Easter or any summer day, this is the pie for you.

Mix together:
1 pound ricotta
3/4 cup sugar
4 eggs
Approx 1 cup of whole milk (mom uses a little on the lesser side of a cup)
1 cup cooked and cooled rice
1 teaspoon vanilla, a dash of rum extract and a few shakes of cinnamon.

Stir it all together in a bowl with a spoon.   EasyPeasy, right!

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 50 minutes to one hour depending on your oven.   Mom has noticed that gas ovens seem to bake faster than electric ones.

The rice pie is ready for tomorrow☺
Happy Easter Saturday!

Hide and Seek

This is the very first time that Mackie has ever worn bunny ears before.   You're doing a great job, buddy!
Are you having fun yet?!☺
Remember the Arborvitae that was damaged during one of our nor-easters?  The poor tree never bounced back to its upright position.  We love playing hide and seek around it!

And remember that we told you that we smelled the woodchucks coming out of hibernation and hanging out in my yard?
We lied!   It's bunny poo!  yummmmmmmmmm
We sure did fool her, didn't we, Mackie!

A Hello

Look what we found on our walkie yesterday~
It's a Hello feather from Mitch!   We also found a glove on the side of the road.  It must have fallen out of someone's car when they got out.   Mitch used to love to pick up found mittens or gloves and give them a thorough shake to make sure they were deaded.   Neither one of us do that - only Mitch♥
Hey, Mackie - let's play indian!
Your turn~
I'll race you!
 I"m winning!
Hey, Molly - I bet you can't do this with your tongue!
Mom discovered two days ago that the groundhogs have woken up from their winter hibernation.
You're right!  We are sniffing their scent!    Mom is not thrilled.

Satisfying Saturday

When Mackie comes to visit, the most fun thing that we do together is play in my fenced in yard.
Mackie doesn't have this luxury at his house and we take full advantage of it here.
Don't you wish this snow pile could stay here all summer long so that we always have this cool relaxing break on our tummies and to eat~
Back to playing~
 And rolling~
Nothing going on here, mom - just cooling down again!

 Off we go~~

Flower Friday

Guess who's here.    His dad dropped him off early this morning - before my walkie - so Mackie got to walk along with us~
Yes, Mackie.  That is the same cup of iced coffee that you saw on our walkie last time you were here!
There might have been some crazed river otter games going on, Cammie and Maggie

 We found crocus~
And we found johnny jump-ups that had self-sowed~
Time for our after-walk cookie, mom!
Mom says that you're acting like a hussie, Molly!
Dad dropped off photos this morning and we have a couple of them to show you.
Now remember - this was back in the stone age when you had to use film in your camera and you had to wait to have it developed so these pics are scanned and not the clearest.
This is mom and my sissy moving Missy into her first apartment in New York.  It happened in July of 1999.
And this is mom and Missy on Gay Head on Martha's Vineyard in July of 1993.   It was their summer vacation that year.   They only went to Martha's Vineyard one time.    The rest of their vacations were on Nantucket.
Trips down Memory Lane can be such fun☺
Happy Friday, everybuddy!

Where is my Snow

Excuse me - but where is the 6 inches to 12 inches of snow that you promised me, Mr WeatherPeep?
Mom says it was superEasy shoveling and she was thrilled about that.
Well, at least it's SOMETHING to run and play in!

And the daffodils are still safe~
We are making New England Clam Chowder today.
What do you mean you have no ingredients to share with me?!
Happy  Thursday, everybuddy!
