Nature Friday

We are joining Rosy this week for Nature Friday.

We haven't been on walkies since last Sunday.  We have only been outside for short business walks until yesterday afternoon.   I had a short walk around the yard.  Mom wanted to see if I had any problems when we got back inside.

Hello under there~   Are there any woodchucks at home that want to come out to see me?!
I will wait right here in case they change their minds.
Landlord Bob's roses are still blooming away.    We haven't had frost yet.

Mom is anxious for me to hurry and get better soon so I can jump into the leaf piles!

Being outside is so much better.   Look at what I've had to put up with!

Mom's latest puzzle.   She said it was a doozy that made her mental at times!

Happy Friday!

The New Rug

An unfortunate thing happened here last Thursday.   Mom was heading outside to do some yard work and I grabbed my tennis ball to let her know this was not acceptable to me.   As I entered the kitchen from the living room,  I screamed out in pain.   The only explanation is that I twisted or sprained something involving one of my front feets and limpies were happening.

No walkies happened on Friday or Saturday and by Sunday morning, mom thought that it would be okay to take a shorter walk.    Well, it was a bad decision.  As we were approaching our house at the end of our walk, limpies started back up and mom was so mad with herself that she didn't wait longer.

We have/had a small area rug that bridged the threshhold that goes from the living room to the kitchen so there was bare floor where the accident happened.  Not any more.   A new area rug arrived yesterday so now there is very little bare floor in our kitchen.

I know mom is going to wait more than two days for us to return to walkies.  No more limpies now but  I wonder how long she'll make us wait~

A very frustrated~

Nature Friday

We are joining Rosy and Arty this week for Nature Friday~

Mom bought me a new collar with checkered pumpkins!

We are seeing more and more beautiful autumn leaves~

These mushrooms are well camouflaged~
Oh no.   Our friend tells us that the owners drive by their house many times a day looking for their dog.  Paws and fingers are crossed that she is found.

Mom took a picture of this guy on Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday, he was still hanging around in exactly the same place!  Mom took the trash can out and he rode up the garage door and back down and he still stayed in place!

Happy Friday, everybuddy!

Nature Friday

We are joining Rosy and Arty this week for Nature Friday~

Last weekend, mom picked bittersweet berries that weren't open yet and brought them inside.  Sunday was a cool day and the heat came on in our house.   Mom put the tray of bittersweet on the radiator as it was cooling down.  The next morning, the berries had all popped open!

Mom loves decorating with these festive berries~
We changed up our walk one day this week and found these beautiful purple aster bunches in bloom!
We spotted chickens in this lady's front yard☺
This plant looks like it has snow all over it!
Happy Friday, everybuddy!

Terrific and Tasty Tuesday

Mom got this book in the mail a few days ago.  She smiles a lot while she's reading and if she's not smiling, she's laughing out loud and then she looks at me and tells me that Doris and I could be twinsies!

Mom is only a quarter of the way through the book and she already knows that she never wants it to end!

Yesterday, she had an appointment with the dentist.  She stressed about it all weekend as she's never had to have dental work on both side of her mouth at once, which means nasty numbing novacaine needles but it actually wasn't as bad as she thought it was going to be.   When she got home she made another batch of stewed apples and an English muffin bread, which we've never made before.
There is nothing better than warm bread out of the oven slathered in butter, right?   This recipe is definitely a keeper!
Happy Tuesday!

Nature Friday

We are joining Rosy and Arty this week for Nature Friday~

The poison ivy leaves in their autumn colors are so pretty this time of year~

People confuse poison ivy with virginia creeper.   Virginia creeper has five leaves where poison ivy only has three.
Mr Mike's dahlias are still blooming away~
The mullein is so big and the leaves are furry and soft.
Should I be afraid?!

Happy Friday, everybuddy!

In Purrsuit of Flavors - October Stew

This month Phenny and Nelly are making stew~

Mom has just made a huge pot of soup so a main course stew wasn't going to work for us.  Seeing as autumn is all about apples, we wondered if there wasn't an apple stew.    Apples work just as well for me as beef or chicken, mom!
We peeled and seeded and chopped 5 macoun apples because that's what we had.  We added 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of apple cider, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg and 1/8 teaspoon of salt.   Who doesn't love the wonderful aroma of freshly grated nutmeg?!
We combined all of the above ingredients.  We covered the pan and cooked it over medium-low heat for about 35 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Let it sit for 5 minutes and you're ready to eat the apple stew!
It looks so yummy and it smells even better!
I'm goin' in!
This recipe is a keeper for sure!   Mom thought that it was going to be more like an apple sauce but it's more juicy and more spicy!  It's beyond wonderful!
We're off to see the stews that everyone else is making.

Nature Friday

We are joining Rosy and Arty this week for Nature Friday~

Our Rose of Sharon has only a couple more pretty flowers on it.

Landlord Bob's Roses are still blooming away.  They've been blooming all summer long!
The ornamental Cherry has cherries on it.  Too bad they're not edible but they sure are pretty.
Happy October, everybuddy!
