My Special Heart

Do you notice anything?
It's only noticeable after mom just grooms me - before my chest fur begins to grow back!Move in closer!
Can you see it now?
Mom and dad think that my heart is so special!
Dad says that it was destiny that I came to live with him and mom and Maggie!
I think so too!

Love ya lots,

Mitch

Awards and the Lists

We were awarded the "You're a Blessing" award by Jake and Fergie! Thank you so very much! Both of you are very, very special to us.

"This award is to be bestoed upon five individuals with the hopes that they will cut and paste the badge above for their blogs, then honor five more and so on and so on... "

It's so tough choosing just 5 because you're all so very special to us!

1. To Sunshade - if it wasn't for Sunshade and her mom, we wouldn't be blogging!

2. We can't leave her brother Jaffa out! He's a blessing too, even though his sissy thinks he's Stinky!

3. To our friends Penny, Poppy and Patches! They're having a rough time of it right now taking care of their dad and we understand just how very stressful that can be!

4. To our good buddy, Norwood! We love visiting his blog! He always makes us smile. His mom is such a whiz with the computer, unlike ours!

5. To our friend, Blue! We love her blog and we love playing true colors Thursday each week!

Each and every one of you is a blessing to us!

We also got this "Best Blog" award from our Poodles buddies, Mollie Jo and Bobo!
We're supposed to pass it on to 14 others! We're breaking the rules here because we think that all of our friends have the best blogs! Choosing is much too hard so anyone reading our blog, please consider yourself to have the Best Blog!

You have all probably heard already that our mom is heading to Florida. She'll be leaving on Tuesday and she'll be gone for a whole week! She's been making lots of lists for dad so he'll know just how to feed us and how much to feed us and how often to feed us - you get the picture!
Dad doesn't pay as much attention to detail as mom does! But in order for mom to have a good time and not worry too much, the lists are necessary!
Dad has already told us that one night we will be dining at Glenwood and then have ice cream afterwards at Wentworth's! Let's see if mom remembered to write "purple spoon" on this list!

We know we'll survive without you mom but we're sure going to miss you!

Love,
Maggie and Mitch

Look at the mess she made!
We sure did enjoy these very special treats! Thank you so very much again, Sunshade and Jaffa! That was very sweet and thoughtful of you!So until next time..................

True Colors Thursday - Thanksgiving Orange

Today is Thanksgiving day in the USA and it's also one of our favorite days of the week! If you want to play along, let Blue know.
Today's color is orange!

This is one of the pumpkins that we grew this year and this is the picket fence and the beautiful burning bush in front of our house before it lost its leaves.
This orange pumpkin is not real and it lives in our dining room year round! And this is pumpkin ice cream and mom thinks that we should put it on our Thanksgiving pumpkin pie for dessert with whipped cream on top! Is this a plan, or what?!
The pumpkins on the front porch of this Windy Meadows Pottery house are orange!
This Boyd's bear is dressed in her orange pumpkin outfit and the mums and the DalePail are both orange! The barberry bush is a pretty autumn orange and if you look closely, you can see an orange cement pumpkin that stays in mom's garden year round because it weighs 75 pounds and mom refuses to move it!Our swan, Dauby's beak is orange!
The ornamental pear trees in our yard had their autumn orange leaves but now they're gone like most of the other leaves on the trees in our yard!Next week's color is cream!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

I'm Three!

Hi everyone! It's MitchyBoy and today is my birthday! I'm three years old!

We were up bright and early as usual and the first thing we found on our computer was the most PERFECT birthday card from my good friend, Blue! How does she know I like apples so much?! I'm featured on her blog today! How special is that! After breakie, we had morning walkies and not long after we got home, my pawty began!
Maggie and I patiently waited while mom put together my birthday treat! It's a pizza cake with a scoop of apple pie ice cream and topped off with whipped cream!
OMG, hurry up already, mom!
Yesterday, the mailman brought us a package and mom opened it and we had no idea until she did some detective work who sent it! We got the most beautifully decorated and yummiest-looking lollipups!Sunshade and Jaffa sent us each these fabulous treats for my birthday!
You guys are the best! What a very wonderful and thoughtful surprise from the both of you and your sweet mom! We can't thank you enough!
Mom says we have to wait until tomorrow to eat them or it'll be Maggie & Mitch over-load! What the heck does she mean by that?!A pressie for me!
And a birthday kiss from my favorite sissy! Thank you so much, Maggie!
What a special day already and it's still morning! I have a whole day to have fun!

Love ya lots,
The birthday boy,
Mitch

Goodbye Snickers

This coming Saturday is our 3rd blogoversary. We can't believe that we've been blogging for 3 years already!

In the beginning it was just my blog - before Mitch joined our family and Butchy and Snickers were one of the first doggies that commented on my blog and I was so happy to have friends!

This is one of the first pictures that I remember of Snickers. She's a beautiful Thanksgiving Indian Princess in this picture. You will live on in our hearts forever, Snickers, and you will always, always, always be one of my first friends on DWB! I will never forget you - We will never forget you!

We love you,
Maggie and Mitch

A Birthday Pressie for Me!

Hi everyone! It's me, MitchyBoy!
Putter's mom was here this past week and she hand delivered a birthday pressie for me!
Mom told me that I had to wait until my birthday to open it but Putter's mom told me that I could open it whenever I wanted to and since I was bugging mom so much by staring at the pretty red bag and barking at it, she decided to let me have it!

What a pretty balloon card, Putter! I wish I could pop them! I'm very good at that, ya know!OMG, it's a bully stick! Thank you so much, Putter! I love bully sticks!
OMG, guess what, Maggie? Putter sent me two of them! Should I be a nice brother and share one with you? Okay, I'm feeling generous today!

Thank you so much, Putter! That was very sweet of you to think of me on Mitch's special day! I appreciate it!
COOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm still feeling generous, Maggie! One for me and one for you! And a HUGE tire rope toy! How cool, Putter! Thank you!
Thank you so very, very much for my birthday pressies, Putter! That was very thoughtful of you! Do you want to come to my pawty on Tuesday? I'm hoping for apple cake again this year!So until next time...............

Barn Pegs and Chicken Cutlets

We were out in the workshop again yesterday supervising!
Mom and dad were making barn pegs (wooden nails) to hold the mortise and tenon timbers together. See those thick dark pieces of wood in the background? That's white oak and dad takes them to the radial arm saw and to the jointer and then to the bandsaw before he comes out with these clean-looking sticks that you see below.Mom and dad still have a couple more steps before this stick is an actual peg that they can use for the barn project!

Later on, we helped dad make chicken cutlets in his workshop!
You're probably wondering why dad is cooking in his workshop, right? Well, nine months before dad had his heart transplant he had a device implanted in his heart called a Jarvik heart. This device helped to keep dad alive!
It is surgically implanted right into your heart and a cord comes out of your stomach and connects to a battery that keeps the heart pump going 24/7!
Mom says that it was a VERY interesting experience and one that she would not want to repeat again and she wasn't even the patient - dad was!
So you can imagine that this cord that comes out of your stomach must be kept clean and sterile and all times because infection could have killed dad!
So dad and mom had a role reversal for many jobs around the house and one of dad's jobs when he was up to it was to cook dindin!
Dad loves to cook! He makes the best spaghetti sauce and delicious soups and one of his specialties is chicken cutlets! And he loves cooking in his workshop because he has a 10 foot long bench that serves as his work table and this equals tons of room!
We're ready and waiting dad, send them down!
So that was our day yesterday! Supervising peg making and helping dad cook chicken cutlets is hard work but very rewarding!

So until next time...................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

True Colors Thursday - Lapis Lazuli

It's true colors Thursday once again! If you want to play, let our hostess Blue know you're playing! This week's color is lapis lazuli, which is a bright blue!

The background in this print of me by our favorite artist, Miss Barbara, is lapis lazuli!
Mom's coffee comes in a bright blue container and when it's empty dad uses it for Mitch's personal water bowl when he travels in his truck with him!
The cover of one of mom's favorite quilt books is lapis lazuli!
This one needs no explanation!
Next Thursday is Thanksgiving day here in the USA and the color will be orange!

So until next time..................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

Wheelie Wednesday - The Rocking Horse Collection

Hi everyone! It's me, Autumn!
A couple of months back, mom got a box from gram and it had her entire rocking horse collection in it! Gram has been collecting rocking horses for years and years!
We haven't counted all of the rocking horses but there are a least a zillion and they're all shapes and colors and sizes and from all different countries!

What I want to know is who is going to dust this thing? I sure hope it's not me!Mom made the one that's right in front of my nose! She made it a long time ago and it's hasn't fallen apart yet! He needs a rider, mom!
This is the whole thing without my fuzzhead in the way!
Well hello! Mind if I climb aboard and go rocking with you?!
Thank you so much for sending us your life-long collection, gram! It's sensational!

See you all next Wednesday!

Love, Autumn
