Duke
I'm sure you all remember me eating wild animal poo and me having to see my vet and go on antibiotics. Mom never wants to repeat that again if we can help it. Lulu and Bean and their Dada suggested the OutFox Field Guard for me to wear instead of a muzzle.
Mom keeps calling it my "no more poo bonnet" and today was my first time wearing it outside. Mom kept asking me, "Are you in there, Duke?"
I haven't been on my lunge line since we had snow! Do I look like I'm from outerSpace?☺It was great racing around the yard and I couldn't grasp anything and eat it and mom was so pleased. Me - not so much as I couldn't play with my ball. I only stayed outside about 15 minutes. Mom asked me if I wanted to go inside and I raced to the garage door. If anyone would like to see the instructions that come with it~~We need to wait for a cooler day as I don't see me wearing it for long when it gets hot out but I did have fun for my short spurt in the yard!We are joining Sunny today for Nature Friday~~
It sure feels good to be out and about after two weeks of stuck inside. Mom took pictures of what was blooming in our yard while we were under house arrest. Landlady Maryanne's Ornamental Pear is flowering~Our Weeping Cherry is blooming~Our Magnolia was just getting started~Mom's pink Bleeding Heart had flowers~The latest news on Mrs Robin - she abandoned her nest. She laid her eggs and sat on them for a couple of days. Maybe it was the crows or the squirrel that scared her off? Could she know that the eggs would never hatch? The nest is still in place with the eggs untouched. Happy Friday, everyone! We just came from seeing my vet and I am a free pup! I can go back to walking and running and I couldn't be any happier!
We did jump the gun this morning and we did go for a short walk. I was very excited and happy to get back to it!
I missed you, duckies!
Mom and I thank you for all of your helpful and positive feedback! When mom returns from the grocery store, the britches come off and we will see how it goes.
We think it will go just fine~It's been ten days since my big boy surgery. My vet's instructions were for me to stay exercise restricted for the next ten-fourteen days and I should be wearing my cone continuously during this time. I've been a very good boy wearing my cone and then my dandy britches all day and all night long. The limited exercise has been very difficult as I am a Spaniel pup. The Trazodone was okay but three tabs would have been more effective than one😉
My appointment to see my vet is on Wednesday at 9am. Seeing as I have been such a good boy and it has been ten days - what do you think about me going britches-free on Tuesday? Mom thinks waiting one more day isn't going to make me heal any more or any less plus she is anxious to see how "nosy" I am going to be with my surgery site. She's also has had enough of taking my britches off and then on again every time I go outside for business!
So what do you think?Last night Amazon arrived and the package was for me! Mom bought me dandy britches so I can get rid of my cone!
My tail is missing, mom!
There - that's better☺They're soft and they fit and they're not sliding off my hiney.I love my new dandy britches! Thank you, mom!Happy Saturday, everyone~We are joining Rosy this week for Nature Friday~~
Obviously, no walking happened this week but mom discovered that another African Violet was in bloom~
How can it be a whole year since you left, Molly. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you and wish you were here but I know that you were tired and that you hurt. Now you're running free and no longer in pain.
“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us”.
I miss you, Molly - so very, very much♥

Mom
Our weather is up and down here with warmer temps and cooler temps and always plenty of rain. Mom decided to make Clam Chowder. She doesn't normally make the Manhattan style but she did this time.
Because it contains onions, I didn't get to try the chowder once it was finished but I did get a celery stick!Mom discovered Sunday night that I was scooting on my hiney. No - I don't have anal gland issues. It feels good to scratch my stitches itch. Carpets are abrasive and we have wall-to-wall carpeting here.
Monday morning, mom called the vet and sadly, he was not available to talk with today. We searched the intermutts and they suggested Benadryl, which mom would never do as we don't know how that would react with my prescription drugs that I'm taking post surgery. The other suggestion was a diaper.
Mom was out on her errand on Monday and she decided to buy a package of diapers. Geez, she didn't need 16 of them! We did find directions about how to put them on me and to cut a hole for my tail to stick out of.
To make a long story shorter - the diaper slide off my shiny slippery furs in about ten minutes.Mom has an important errand to run today and it can't be put off.
The only cone that I have worn so far is the NoarWin Inflatable and I like it but it's large and it won't allow me to get inside my crate. It doesn't fit through the door. So yesterday, mom put the Comfy Cone on, which is narrower than the NoarWin, on me to make sure that I couldn't do any damage to myself so she could run her errand and not worry.Mom called the vet's office yesterday and vet tech told her that the first three days after surgicals are the most crucial for healing. Tomorrow I can have my Hartz squeaky balls back. YAY!
This was my project yesterday and I think I did pretty well with the cone firmly in place! Mom can't believe what a happy boy I am with this cone on me twenty-four seven♥
Happy Sunday!Mom picked me up yesterday around 3pm. It wasn't long before I found a new toy that she had put in my toy box. She says his name is Mister Bill~
Mom says that keeping me calm is quite the challenge. She says "slow down" to me all the time but I learned a new one yesterday - "four feet on the floor". I want to climb into mom's lap but I'm not supposed to jump and climb and mom is a rule follower. And having said that, she comes down to me and keeps kissing me over and over. I wasn't able to eat my full meal yesterday. The nice ladies at the animal hospital told mom that all of the surgical stuffs could make me nauseous and to only give me a quarter to a half of what I normally get. I had a good night with no tummy upset so this morning I can have almost my full portion with the meds they sent mom home with.We are joining Rosy this week and Nature Friday~~
Yesterday, was the last day that I'll be walking for awhile. The vet says 10-14 days for business walks only - not fun ones. Bummer - and I just got my new head collar so these pictures are from earlier this week.
