 We are joining Arty this week for Nature Friday~

We switched up our walkies route and found pretty hydrangeas in bloom!

We found a yard with lots of pink flowers~

The trumpet vine is blooming!

We absolutely love the gorgeous blue chicory~

Right next to our mailbox, we found a huge mushroom that was sprinkled with cinnamon☺

Nature Friday

 We are joining Rosy this week for Nature Friday~

Landlord Bob's weeping willow tree looks so pretty!

The coneflowers and hostas are both in full bloom~

Mom made cream of tomato soup earlier in the week and tossed in some fresh basil that we started from seed a couple of months ago.   It was so yummy!

Another night, she had a turkey burger and she put ketchup on it and one of these mustard leaves and her turkey burger tasted like she had used ketchup AND mustard!  These leaves are so amazing to eat and have such a bite to them.

We have had SO MUCH rain that there are mushrooms everywhere!

We discovered dahlia's but not nearly as beautiful as the ones you saw, Rosy!

I hear a dog barking, mom.   Maybe he's a friend and wants us to wait so he can catch up!

Tasty Tuesday

 The best part of summer is eating watermelon ☺

These deviled egg divits are perfect for keeping the watermelon pieces from sliding off, mom.  Great plate choice!

Mom's Birthday

 Today was my mom's birthday and my sissy took her for a hike up Sleeping Giant!  She hasn't been there in over three years, which was before the tornado hit did quite the number there.    

They made it to the castle!

And they had lots of fun!

After the Giant, they stopped at Sergio's pizza and picked up lunch and brought it home so that I could share in the celebration too!   You can see mom's birthday cards from Miss Susie and Treacle and Miss Cathy and Frank in the background.

The birthday dessert was tara misu and it was to-die-for!

Auntie Lydia and her Kerry Blue Terrier Reacher sent mom this beautiful quilt puzzle a couple of weeks ago.  Mom had a blast working it!

Mom has declared this the bestest birthday ever!

Nature Friday

 We are joining Rosy this week for Nature Friday~

Remember our friend Miss Jan who gave mom parsnips from her garden?  She also gave her a purple Betony and now it's blooming!

She gave her a cutting from her Chocolate mint plant and believe it or not, it rooted and mom planted it and it's alive and doing well!  

Our apple tree has tons of little apples and because we don't spray, not one of them looks very edible. 

We found the Crown Vetch flowering along our walk~

We found yellow Toadflax~

In Purrsuit of Flavors

 For the month of July, Phenny and Nelly and the Canadian Cats want us to prepare a fruit loose and fancy free dish.

We decided on Strawberry Peach Shortcake with angel food cake as our "shortcake".  Gram always used box mixes for her angel food cakes so that's what we did too.

While the cake was baking, mom cut up the strawberries~

And because she couldn't decide in the beginning if it was to be a strawberry shortcake or a peach shortcake, she bought both strawberries and peaches.   More is always better, right?!   We sugared them to make lots of juice. 

The cake just out of the oven before we turned it upside down to cool~

Of course, I got to sample the finished product☺

It is fabbers, mom!

 

 I'm ready for seconds!

We're off to see what fruit desserts every one is is making!   Have a wonderful Wednesday!

It has been SuperDuper hot here for too many days and there were days that we didn't walk but on the days that we did, we discovered Landlord Bob's Clematis in bloom~
