Blue's Colored Thursday - Aubergine

Today's color is aubergine!  If you want to play along with us,  head over to this link and you're in!
We thought that aubergine was a most challenging color to find.
This was the easiest pick to find - a real honest to goodness eggplant!
But we do think that this glass of wine comes pretty close to aubergine!
And what about this bunch of wild grapes all twisted up with the hemlock hedges~
How about this ball of wool yarn?  This could be aubergine too, right?
We have Pokeweed growing in places that it shouldn't be growing in!  UGH!
We think this butterfly bush flower is a great aubergine choice too!
Hey, that's MY aubergine-colored purse, Mitch!
Next week's color is aquamarine!

So until next time..................

Love ya lots,

Wheelie Wednesday - Pear Tomatoes?

Hi everyone! It's me, Autumn.
Look what mom and I found in the garden.  They're pear-shaped tomatoes!
These must be one of the tomato plants that Suzanne had us plant for her.  We've never seen tomatoes that look like pears before!  Mom says they taste just like a real tomato tastes and not at all like a pear!

This is yesterdays' tomato harvest!  It looks like we have more golden colored tomatoes than red ones!
When mom and dad were at the Durham Fair this past Friday, look what they saw~

They really are called Pear tomatoes!

See you all next Wednesday!

Love,
Autumn

The Durham Fair

Mom and dad went to the Durham Fair on Friday night without us.  It's only faire since we get to go out to dindin with them all the time, right?  NOT!

Mom made sure when she got home that she told us everything that we missed out on!
These two antique homes just happen to be right at the entrance to the fairgrounds~
Dad was enjoying his baked potato with all of the good stuff on it when mom spotted this black and tan goat! She had the nerve to compare him to Mitch!
She also spotted this stroller and wished that it could be me riding inside!  I wish it could have been too, mom!
hummmmmmm - this family looks like they're having a serious discussion.  Maybe they're deciding that I really do need that stroller!
Mom was admiring this beautiful painting on the cello.  How creative!
And check out someone's collection of mooses~
That's a lot of mooses!
Mom even spotted a moose quilt!
And she so wanted to take this vege quilt home with her!  How beautiful!
Look what else she spotted. Granny squares!
And we had to hear about all of the food!
Tons of apples~
And check out the size of those carrots~
And she even saw a pumpkin disguised as a candied apple!
And she loved this flower arrangement with the Durham Fair theme~
And dad chatted with the blacksmith.
What works of art these tractor seats are!
Somehow they don't look very comfy though.
We heard all about dad's egg sandwich~
And the fries that mom and dad shared.
Hey Norwood!  This one's for you, buddy!
Mom and dad were gone for FOUR hours and they said they had a blast! How could they have so much fun without us?
Maybe we'll get to go along next year  *sigh*

So until next time..................

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

Real or Fake

What do you think?  Real lettuce or fake lettuce?
How about the cuc?
Real or fake?
What about the tomato?
Mom offered it to both of us and Mitch swiped the one that was supposed to be mine!  HEY!
Let's try this again!
We love take 2! It means we get double the treats!
OOPS!   I guess we gave that one away, huh!
That's better!
What about the ice cream?
Real or fake?

Did we fool you?
Naaaaaaaaaa, we didn't think so!
So until next time...............

Love ya lots

Blue's Colored Thursday - Lavender

We are sure hoping that Mango is playing along today!  If you want to play along, just click here!
Today's color is lavender!

Our lavender sedum is in bloom!
And so is the lavender saffron crocus.
And so is our lavender marsh mallow.
We checked out our lavender plants and guess what?  They had a couple of lavender flowers on them!
And the Russian sage is blooming lavender too!
I happen to think that this is the best lavender choice of all!
I'm high-fivin' ya for that Nilla Wafer, mom!
Next week's color is aubergine!

So until next time................

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

Wheelie Wednesday - Lobster Chowder

Hi everyone! It's me, Autumn.
The temps are getting cooler here - more like autumn - and mom and I decided to make a big pot of Lobster Chowder!
We melted a half stick of butter and added 3 big chunked up potatoes - sprinkled in bacon salt and celery salt and onion powder and salt and pepper.
Then we added 16 ounces of corn and let everything cook and get kind of soft.
Then we added water till our pot was about two-thirds full and dropped in 3 chicken bouillon cubes.  It's beginning to boil and it smells yummy!  We'll let it cook for about 1/2 hour till the potatoes are pretty much done.
I'll add the wine, mom - about 1/4 of a cup.
Time to add almost the whole quart of light cream  and 10 ounces of chopped lobster meat.
We heat everything just until it's hot (don't boil)!
I can't wait to taste it!
Serve with a chive garnish and make sure you have plenty of oysterette crackers!
See you all next Wednesday!

Love,
Autumn
