Nature Friday

We are joining Rosy this week for Nature Friday~~

Our sunrise earlier this week~

Mom decided that she NEEDED to see lots of Spring flowers so she headed to Van Wilgen's to make herself happier.  These huge pots are in the parking lot.
Who doesn't love sweet pansy faces☺
The hydrangeas are so pretty!
The lily scent is always so intoxicating.   She really wanted to bury her nose in a gardenia but no plants were available yet.
She did venture into the greenhouse and found this Madagascar Jasmine that she couldn't live without so she brought it home with her.  The blossoms haven't opened yet but you can faintly smell the scent already.   She can't wait till they open!   And now to keep it alive and blooming!
Happy Friday, everybuddy!
Enjoy the last day of March!

Tasty Tuesday

Mom found a recipe that says this Chinese dinner tastes like the inside of an egg roll.   We don't eat Chinese food often but she decided to give it a try and we did cut the recipe in half~

The ingredients:

Low-Carb Crack Slaw
2 lbs. Ground beef or turkey
2 bags Cole Slaw Mix
4 Green Onion, chopped
3 tsp minced garlic
3 tbsp Soy Sauce
2 tbsp sesame oil
2 tsp red pepper flakes
2 tsp ground ginger

The instructions:

Cook Ground meat in pan as you normally would.
In separate pan, put sesame oil, soy sauce, chopped green onion and chopped garlic together and stir fry until tender. Then added the cabbage (cole slaw mix) , crushed red pepper and ground ginger and cooked until mostly tender, it still had a slight crunch to it.
Once that was done drained the excess fat off of the meat and added it to the pan with the rest of the ingredients and stirred. Did add a touch more soy sauce for flavor but not much. Low carb, moderate fat and moderate protein, perfect!

Yup - it still has crunch to it!
That was fast. It's all done!
Much better with the beef, mom!
Happy Tuesday, everybuddy!

Nature Friday

We are joining Rosy and Sunny this week for Nature Friday~~

The daffodils are blooming in front of Landlord Bob's house!

The mini daffies are blooming along our walking route too.  Aren't they just so cheerful!
Mom loves the deer.  She thinks they are such beautiful and graceful animals.   Two days ago,  Landlord Bob discovered the damaged arborvitaes in our yard and he wasn't happy about it.   We know it was the deer snacking because they're hungry and last night when we went out for bedtime peepees, three deer were here and I barked at them until they left.
Mom is so happy to have a vase of hyacinths in the house to bury her nose in multiple times a day☺
This is my friend Maggie the Lab~
Happy Friday, everybuddy!

Tasty Tuesday

Mom made a boiled dinner this week.  She would have loved to have corned beef instead of Keilbasa but she didn't find any.

I got to enjoy some peeled carrot ribbons!

Cabbage, carrots, potatoes and Keilbasa and peppercorns~
Cooked carrots are just as yummy as raw ones.
Let's make this dinner again soon, mom!
Happy Tuesday, everybuddy!

Nature Friday

This happened on Wednesday.   Mom says that I'm self-mutilating again.    I lick in between one of my pads until it's raw and then I limp and can barely walk.   I'm back in my sock until mom feels it's safe to take it off.   This is not the first time it's happened and I'm sure it won't be the last.

The hyacinths are beginning to come alive!  Mom can't wait to bury her nose in them and sniff their beautiful fragrance♥
A very nice lady who reads my blog named Miss Diane sent us this email.

Dear Molly,

Please tell your Mom that your amaryllis is going to bloom again, bud is out of bulb so it will attempt to bloom regardless of your preferences. Give it water and light just as you did before and enjoy the second stem and blooms.

The usual recommendation is to allow your amaryllis to grow until fall before you force it to sleep. Or just let it keep growing year round. The leaves need to keep growing to rebuild the bulb after blooming. I let mine amaryllis grow constantly, never force sleep, and they have had long lives blooming every year. The leaves need to grow to make energy to make future flower buds. Mine just finished blooming second stem.

Some amaryllis varieties routinely send up two or sometimes three flower stems so please don’t be quick to withhold water and trim off leaves.

Amaryllis Care After Blooming

  • After flowering, your bulb is exhausted. If you want flowers next year (many people prefer simply to purchase new bulbs every fall), you must allow it to rebuild itself.
  • When the last bloom fades, cut off the flower stalk 3-5" above the bulb, but do not cut off the leaves. They produce food that will be stored in the bulb.
  • Put your plant in a sunny window, preferably one that is south-facing.
  • Water when the top inch of the potting mix is dry to the touch, and begin fertilizing with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer once a month.
  • When the danger of frost has passed in spring, set the pot outdoors in full sun or knock the bulb out of its pot and plant it in the ground in a sunny location.
  • In fall—we often wait until frost blackens the leaves—bring the bulb indoors, cut off the foliage just above the bulb, and store it dry in a cool (55°F), dark place such as a basement for 8-10 weeks.
  • Then pot (or repot) the bulb and water it. Thereafter, keep the potting mix almost dry until new growth emerges, and follow the instructions under "Pre-bloom Care."
  • Amaryllis bulbs can rebloom once or sometimes twice a year for decades if they receive proper care and are repotted as they grow.

We think that it's just leaves this time and no flower~~
Thank you so much, Miss Diane.   You are a wealth of information and we really appreciate this!

Happy Friday, everybuddy!

Molly Monday

You will never guess what I did on my birthday for even more excitement.    I took a bath - but that's okay as long as the water is warm and I get to wear my FurDry robe.

We had a lousy raw rainy icky day on Saturday and mom groomed me!

I'm ready for the warmer temps now with my shorter furs so I hope they're on the way with lots of pretty Spring flowers!

Happy Monday, everybuddy!

It's My Birthday

Today is my special day.  I am eleven years old!

I have never been at a loss to grab foodables and to scarf them down in a flash but this birthday biscuit was so big!   Mom knew that I needed help so she broke it into smaller pieces for me.
I am soooooo enjoying my birthday biscuit!
Today is a great day and mom says that today is all about ME!
Grab a cupcake, everybuddy, and help me celebrate!

Thank you so much for the fabulous card, Miss Ann and Juney!   I love my birthday card♥
