The Halloween Pawty at Crump's Barn

This guy was part of the welcoming committee~
The fruit and cheese cascade table.  Isn't it just beautiful and yummy too!
What we haven't told you yet is that this barn will eventually be a clock shop.  The "pawty" floor will be a showroom with lots of beautiful antique clocks one day and the upper floors will be the workshop!

The first clock has arrived!
That's our sissy as the good witch!
Auntie Jan brought these cool eyeball eggs!   ewwwwwwwwwwwww
M&M"s?  And why were we not invited?!
Mom said that the desserts were incredible! There was no way that anyone left without being stuffed to the brim!
 Uncle Chris?  hahaha
Today is the last day of October, which means that National Pizza month is over!  booooooooooo
It goes out in style at the Crump barn!
 Cheeseburger pizza?
Mom didn't have any because she was too full at this point but many guests were saying that it was the best kind they'd ever had!

 The band was great!
And we did get a treat when mom came home!
Dad stayed a couple of hours longer than mom did!
Today we head to Cornwall Bridge, Connecticut for Planet Airedale

Happy Halloweenie, everyone!

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

Another Barn Update

Remember this plywood ramp.   This is before the Crump barn frame went up.
Vincent, the mason, has been hard at work!

You're really impressed, right?!
We were back over there earlier this week after the red powder had been swept off!

TADA!
It's looks like brownstone! It's not red at all!
And Vincent built a small set of steps if you'd rather take the stairs then walk the ramp!
And he stone-faced the ramp!
We need to get some green grass to grow!
The entrance door is up!  Dad has been working on the thumb latch and installing the lock.
Let me in, Mitch!
BTW, those red hinges are only temporary.
The guys who install the insulation are here.

They are spraying on the insulation and it's green!   Dad says that more insulation goes on top of the green.  We didn't get a picture of  the workers all dressed up in their gear but they are covered up from head to toe and they look kinda scary!
The beams are all covered with plastic so they don't turn green too!

We've been hanging out and doing a lot of supervising.
Dad started a nice fire in the fireplace for us.  The brownstone hearth is in place.
Those are George Washington andirons!
And we got a treat!  Supervising is very hard work, ya know!
We have been doing major clean-up all this week because the Halloween pawty is today!  Mom says there will be tons of food and drink and over 100 hoomans and even live music!
It's not looking too good for us to get an invitation so we're hoping for a nice big doggie bag!

So until next time.............

Love ya lots,

Bella's Book

We got our book in the mail from Bella and Ollie!  What a great picture of Bella!

I need to put on my specs so I can see it more clearly.

That's better!

What an awesome book!  We can see why Bella is so famous!
And so many of our friends are in her book!

That's me!!!!
I won most popular girl hat doggie in Bella's 2010 Hat Parade!
Don't be bummed, Mitch.  You'll get your chance another time!

Thank you so much, Bella and Ollie.  We love our new book!  It brings us much happiness!

So until next time...................

Love ya lots,

Blue's Colored Thursday - Pumpkin Orange

Today's color is pumpkin orange!  If you want to play along with us, just click on this link.  It's fun!
We had absolutely no problem with this color!  We LOVE pumpkins!

These are mom's new pumpkin orange pot holders.
Our trencher has pumpkin orange in it!
The family who lives in this house is in the autumn spirit~
Another pumpkin!
Autumn has pumpkin orange wheels!
Mom's gazing ball is pumpkin orange!  We need to get this upstairs in the barn before winter shatters it!
This pumpkin lives in our garden all year round. Dad bought it for mom years ago!  It's too heavy to move!
Mom bought this one year while we were on Nantucket.
Yup, we are definitely nutty about pumpkins!
This is the wreath on our back door that surrounds our Amish hat birdhouse that the birdies are not allowed to use.   Mom has black electrical tape over the birdie entrance hole to keep them out so they don't make an awful mess all over our back porch.
Next week's color is baby pink !

So until next time................

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

Wheelie Wednesday - Apple Crisp

Hi everybody! It's me, Autumn.

Our apple tree still has a few apples on it that haven't fallen off yet so mom and I decided to make an apple crisp!
This is the first time we have ever made this recipe.  Dad does not like oatmeal in his apple crisp and we did find one without oatmeal.

You should be able to biggify the recipe.

We've chopped the apples and added our cinnamon and ground nutmeg and it's ready for the oven. All we have to do is cover it with foil and in it goes!
**The recipe calls for the chopped apples to bake for 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven but we found that some of the apples were a tad bit crunchy so next time, mom will be baking the apples for at least 35 minutes.

We don't have a food processor and we also like our nuts to be coarse and chunky rather than finely chopped so we chopped ours with this chopper. Dad's favorite nuts are walnuts so we used a cup of walnuts rather than half walnuts and half pecans.
Our walnut, brown sugar, flour, salt and butter topping is prepared and we're waiting for the hot apples to come out of the oven so we can sprinkle on this mixture and continue baking the apple crisp for another 30 minutes.
It's out of the oven and it looks and smells delicious!
What do you think about serving it with rum raisin ice cream, mom?
Wait until dad comes home and discovers that we've made him an apple crisp for dessert!  Won't he be surprised and happy!
**Dad was surprised and LOVED the apple crisp!  We'll be making this recipe again and again!

See you all next Wednesday!

Love,
Autumn

It's ice cream cake!
