Timber Frame Weekend at Crump's

I'm so torn.  I want to help mom make dessert for the new student timber framers and I also want to help dad continue to set up shop for class.   Which would you choose?

Mom is making Blueberry Buckle - well, we need to change the name to Berry Buckle because she used black raspberries, red raspberries and strawberries and no blueberries.
How do you like my awesome tongue curl?

And she also is making Chewy Peanut Bars.
1/4 cup margarine or butter
1 cup peanut butter
1 (14-oz) can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups quick-cooking oats (mom used the regular because that's what she had)
1/2 cup coarsely chopped peanuts and 1/2 cup raisins (mom had a trail mix with peanuts and raisins and cranberries in it and that's what she used)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  In large saucepan, over low heat, melt margarine.  Remove from heat; add peanut butter, Eagle Brand milk, vanilla and salt.  Mix well.  Stir in oats, peanuts and raisins.  Spread evenly into greased 13 X 9-inch baking pan.  Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.  Cool thoroughly and cut into bars. Store loosely covered at room temperature.

Timber frame class is going well today.  The weatherman says rain for tomorrow so dad took the safe approach and ordered two tents to keep more timber framers dry.
That's my dad!  He's the timber frame teacher!
I miss my dad.  It's quiet at home without him and he told me that I'd be too disruptive if I came to class.  What?!

So until next time...........

Love ya lots,
Mitch

  2. Disruptive? What dog is ever disruptive? Not us, that's for sure. We'd rather be in the kitchen helping Mom cook anyway. She can be clumsy at times and drop good stuff on the floor.

  16. I think dad just doesn't want you to steal his thunder (whatever that means) because of course you would be the center of attention if you were there. Besides, I think you got a nice deal spending a day baking with mom and getting noms.
