I'm so torn. I want to help mom make dessert for the new student timber framers and I also want to help dad continue to set up shop for class. Which would you choose?
Mom is making Blueberry Buckle - well, we need to change the name to Berry Buckle because she used black raspberries, red raspberries and strawberries and no blueberries.
How do you like my awesome tongue curl?
And she also is making Chewy Peanut Bars.
1/4 cup margarine or butter
1 cup peanut butter
1 (14-oz) can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups quick-cooking oats (mom used the regular because that's what she had)
1/2 cup coarsely chopped peanuts and 1/2 cup raisins (mom had a trail mix with peanuts and raisins and cranberries in it and that's what she used)
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In large saucepan, over low heat, melt margarine. Remove from heat; add peanut butter, Eagle Brand milk, vanilla and salt. Mix well. Stir in oats, peanuts and raisins. Spread evenly into greased 13 X 9-inch baking pan. Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool thoroughly and cut into bars. Store loosely covered at room temperature.
Timber frame class is going well today. The weatherman says rain for tomorrow so dad took the safe approach and ordered two tents to keep more timber framers dry.
That's my dad! He's the timber frame teacher!
I miss my dad. It's quiet at home without him and he told me that I'd be too disruptive if I came to class. What?!
So until next time...........
Love ya lots,
Mitch
Mitch be disruptive, never!!!! The good boy you are?? Oh, well Mitch there will be a lot of other things you can go to!!! Your time will come!!
ReplyDeleteDisruptive? What dog is ever disruptive? Not us, that's for sure. We'd rather be in the kitchen helping Mom cook anyway. She can be clumsy at times and drop good stuff on the floor.
ReplyDeleteMorgan and the Porties
Can I come to your house for dessert?? PLEASE.
ReplyDeleteWe vote for dessert .
ReplyDeleteMitch

Mitchie...I think I would stay with your Mom. After all, you prolly need thumbs to frame up the barn, but you know you are a master Eater and Taster.
ReplyDeletegussie
The dessert. Hands down. I mean, I read the word "peanut" in the recipe title, how amazing are those?!?! :)
ReplyDelete1. We don't think you'd be disruptive at all. In fact, we think you'd be an asset to the class.
ReplyDelete2. We'd stay with the food.
Did we tell you how much we like your header? Well, we do.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Well you might miss your dad, but I hope you got to lick the bowls from all that baking and maybe even get a piece of each to taste test.
ReplyDeleteCindy
I don't think you'd be disruptive! You'd be the best supervisor. But hopefully you got some treats while helping mom.
ReplyDeleteNubbin wiggles,
Oskar
We think you definitely made the right choice, Mitch. Mom thinks your two dishes look quite tasty. We all love blueberries but we just discovered that strawberries are pretty tasty too.

We would definitely pick the dessert choice! Not that teaching with your dad wouldn't have been fun, but you probably wouldn't have gotten any snacks!!! Strawberries are so great!! xoxo Chloe and LadyBug
ReplyDeleteDisruptive? Your dad must be kidding!
ReplyDeleteHowever, I vote the dessert. The Berry Buckle looks really yummy!
I think dad just doesn't want you to steal his thunder (whatever that means) because of course you would be the center of attention if you were there. Besides, I think you got a nice deal spending a day baking with mom and getting noms.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
We are amazed at the magical manner of your tongue curl....

"Disruptive"?!? That's just crazy talk! I think you're better off helping your mom with the cooking, though! Those berries look SO good ...and thanks! My mom just "instapapered" your Chewy Peanut Bars recipe!!!
ReplyDeleteLuv,
Dave
Mitch, I think you made the right decision staying at home helping mom make those yummy foodies. You are a good taste tester.
ReplyDeleteNoelle is a beautiful girl, I'm sure you had a great time running around having fun.

Hi Mitch, I think that hanging out with your mum is the way to go. She's baking and that means food and treats for you.
ReplyDeleteYep, that sure is a fabulous tongue-curl!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful class and we know your dad must be the very best teacher in all the world! AND... your MOM must be the best baker on the planet too; those recipes have us drooling; Mom's gonna try them - thanks so much for the recipes! We don't think you'd be any problem at all in the class, in fact, we think you'd probably make a mighty fine helper!
