We got an email from dad a couple of days ago. It seems that he was having dinner at a restaurant with friends. He had driven his Ford Pick-up and Mackie and Jett were with him waiting in his truck. Mackie was in the driver's seat and Jett was in the back seat. He parked his truck right out front where he could keep an eye on the dogs.
Luckily, he glanced up at the right time and he thought that he saw his truck moving. OMD, he DID see his truck moving! It was rolling away down the hill in the parking lot!
Dad jumped up and ran out of the restaurant as fast as he could - all along trying to get the key out of his pocket to open the door and stop the runaway truck!
He said that Mackie was looking at him running alongside the truck from the driver's seat. His truck was heading for a bank in the same parking lot. Thankfully, his truck crashed softly into a pipe handrail outside the bank where it came to rest.
He told us that everyone in the restaurant was watching the whole event unfold. Thank doG no one was hurt! Dad said that both Mackie and Jett were totally unfazed by Mackie's first driving lesson☺
And by the way - just in case you were wondering. No doggie engaged the gear shifter. Dad says that it's a transmission issue that needs to be addressed.
On another note~
Remember the barn raising in May in Northford - two doors down from Dad's house? It's Miss Heather's barn. It's all finished and looking just beautiful!
We love it white!
Hey, Mackie. Don't plan on driving mom's car when you come to visit us☺
Love ya lots♥
Molly
ha, seems mackie and my momma are related somehow ;o))) I like the barn very much... it could be also a mom-cave or a mom&phenny cave :O)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I know this could have been a serious situation but I have been laughing my head off, just what I needed on Wednesday!! I am so glad the Boys were fine and your Dad's truck was not damaged or anything else, it is just the image of the two dogs in the car looking at your poor Dad running alongside!!!
ReplyDeleteThe barn is just wonderful and I love the white colour. I want one! Have a great day.
Hugs, Susie & Treacle xx
Like the barn. Scared by the truck story. Tell your Dad about setting the parking brake.
ReplyDeleteTeja
(who thinks it is more fun to set off the alarm, because you can do that a couple of times in one span in the parking lot.)
OMD! That's crazy. I'm glad no was hurt. Funny that Mackie and Jett didn't show any kind of reaction! I bet they thought it was fun.
ReplyDeleteOMD OMD that could have ended SO badly... We guess Mackie has a "LICENCE".
ReplyDeleteBUTT it was still Scary.
The Barn is grrrreat.
It sounds like the boys might be left at home when dad goes out to dinner the next time.
ReplyDeleteWe think that's kind of cool, but Mom not so much. She worries about stuff like that more than we do. Samba used to honk the horn whenever we left her in the car. She wouldn't stop till the peeps came out of the restaurant. Mackey opens the windows so Dad has to remember to lock them before she gets in the car.
ReplyDeleteOMD! that must have been scary for your dad! Glad no one was hurt.
ReplyDeletekinda of like Hazel when she locked herself in our dad's pickup. It was upsetting at the time but funny now
hugs
Hazel & Mabel
OMD, that must have been so scary. Good to know no one was hurt, and hope the truck didn't sustain too much damage. Mackie, maybe you need to get a learner's permit first and do that driving with Dad sitting next to you:)
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
OHMYPUG we are so glad no one was hurt, I bet your Dads heart was beating 1000 times a minute. Wowzer. I bet though Mackie was turning the wheel to help out. Love that little barn. stella rose
ReplyDeleteOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NO thank goodness no one was hurt. OMCs
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine how frightened every buddy was. OMCs do not let Mackie near your mom's car. Once our neighbor's car rolled down the driveway but no one was in it. She ran in the house quickly w/o turning off the car. Knocked out the power to our street and OMCs my teenage sissy was in the midst of drying her furs too
Hugs madi your bfff
That WAS lucky! Bet it looked funny, the peep chasing a truck. Dui gets in BIG trouble when he chases trucks...BOL!
ReplyDeleteThe barn is a picture.
What a beautiful barn, it looks so pretty surrounded in the fall foliage!
ReplyDeleteOh Mackie, although that must have been a fun first drive for you, we bet your Daddy was beyond worried!
xoxo,
Jakey, Arty & Rosy
OMD! I thought that kind of thing only happens in the movies! So glad no one was hurt! Better keep the e-brake on that truck while it's parked until Dad gets it fixed!
ReplyDeleteOMD!!!!! That is SO something an Airedale would do on purpose! BOL!!!! I am super duper glads everyone is okays, and that the truck didn't crash into the bank, cause the PoPo would have thought the two doggies were tryin' to pull a bank-job and puts them in the clink! PHEW! Nows, are you givin' lessons Mackie????
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Ruby ♥
Oh my goodness!
ReplyDeleteWhat an exctiting story,, but scary for your dad..! So glad the runaway truck got captured!
I bet Mackie and Jett were happy for the truck ride though!
