Bless Aunt Agnes

It's feeding time for the waterfowl .  As we entered the swan cottage, Aunt Agnes was sitting on the nest keeping the eggs warm.  She's there all the time.
 Nice looking nest, Aggie!
This time she got off the nest to come over to say hi.
There are still just two eggs.
Agnes is gathering more straw and adding it to the top of the nest.    She spends a lot of time sitting on her nest. She's a good auntie!
And where are the negligent parents, Hazel and Buster?   They don't want to miss a meal!
Dad puts their food in a sheetrock bucket so the greedy Mallards don't come inside and eat all of the grain.   There is another food dish outside for them at the water's edge.   These two really don't spend much time inside the house.
This is one the Greglag geese.    Dad has quite a few of these.
There is a pecking order when it's time to eat. He's chasing somegoosie away~
 These are Emperor geese~
If you stare at her feathers long enough, you kinda get dizzy!
The nesting box still doesn't have any takers.   Maybe dad needs to paint the inside walls a pretty color and hang some paintings?!
So that's the latest on the black swan family.  We'll let you know if anything exciting happens!

So until next time............

Love ya lots♥

  2. Thank Heaven for Aunt Agnes. Will the baby swans bond with her or with their biological mom? Or will BM chase Aunt Agnes away right before they hatch? Worried about Aunt Agnes' feelings! She doesn't deserve to be chased away.

  3. Agnes is doing such a wonderful job...but we think she should be momma Agnes cause if those eggs hatch the babies will imprint on her as their mom. Loves those empower herself to ....that white on their head is so striking.

We surely HOPE that the eggs do hatch... and we wonder how long we have to wait for that to happen.

  6. Good for Agnes.I had to incubate most of our duck eggs because the parents were more interested in playing than in parenting.

  12. All the geese are so beautiful. Now if those eggs hatch, what happens next? Will Agnes tend to them or will the real Mom get mad?
