We were outside helping mom garden when my vet called with results so mom didn't talk directly to him but he did leave a lengthy message.
The results that we were waiting for was an antibody test for Muscle Myositis. The test came back normal with negative antibodies. He thinks that the MM was caught at the end stage. I had longer furs a couple of weeks ago before I was groomed so he thinks that the sinking went unnoticed and he also thinks that I may have had discomfort but that it wasn't so bad that it raised red flags to mom and dad to act. Mom can agree with some of this but not all. The sinking didn't appear until days after I was groomed. She says how can you not notice that your dog's head is caving in? It's horrifying!
He thinks that I may still have Muscle Myositis and at one point, I may get a flare-up like I can get a flair-up from my Lyme disease but I'm not in any pain at this time so no treatment is needed.
Don't worry, Molly - I'll be okay!
He did say that if the other side of my head begins to sink in to let him know. Are you kidding me?!
Mom says that I will always be her big handsome boy and she's already told me for the 87th time that I look wonderful in my yellow AireCollar♥
We're going to be together for a long time to come, Molly! You'll see~~
I'm going back to living my life and having fun each and every day, which I've been doing the entire time anyway!
So until next time...........
Love ya lots♥
Mitch

We also had never heard of that MM. When Mom searched to read about it, it sounds like it can also affect the jaw - did you have trouble with your jaw too? We hope your doctor is on the right track and you will overcome this MM quickly. All paws crossed for a good recovery.

We think you're still handsome. We can't imagine an Airedale worrying about anything...unless there is pain, so just keep romping. Glad your mum and dad are on top of this thing!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very scary thing, but glad it's not something that's causing you any pain! Still going to continue to send you plenty of PotP!
ReplyDeleteCrikey ...... he said ..... 'if the other side of your head caves in to contact him'? He thinks your folks are morons????????????? Of course they'd contact him!!!!! He's the MORON, aye??
ReplyDeleteTake care Mitch. Of course you will be around for a long time yet so get out there, mate, and continue to enjoy every minute of that wonderful life of yours, along with that beautiful sis and your wonderful folks too. Love ya lots, Mitch!!

Mitch, the best part of the way our humans love us, is they don't care about appearances. They just love us and take care of us. We are snding hugs to you all. Keep on loving life, each and every day.

Glad you're not in pain.
ReplyDeleteOh Mitch, I am so glads you are gonna be okays! I bets it sure scared the crap outta your Moms though!! And probably still does. Ma can TOTALLY relate to that! Tell your Moms that if she really feels bothered, that getting a second opinion is never a bad thing. Even if it's just for your Moms peace of mind. You can ask for copies of your records, and if you don't want to offend, you can just say it's for you. Though, most vets have no problems with that. I am keepin' my paws crossed that everything stays well, I am sendin' your Moms lots of AireZens!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I thinks you are still the most handsomest AireDude evers!!!! ☺
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
I just had to check in at the end of our day to find out if there was news. I am glad the test was normal with negative antibodies. Inflammatory disease immune system proteins recognized as foreign bodies is terrible for humans and dogs. We pray and hope Mitch never has this happen again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a friend

We are SO thrilled to hear that the test came back negative!! We have never heard of this MM thing before either. We sure are glad that you are feeling OK and not hurting or anything!! Glad that you are out and about enjoying life and we are sure that your mom and dad are glad for this news too. And Molly must be over the moon!! Get out there and ENJOY! Smell some flowers Mitch!! We know you love to do that anyway!! xo Chloe and LadyBug
ReplyDeleteLike other we'd never heard of MM. Anyway, the vets call is a cause for celebration !
ReplyDeleteThat sounds scary Mitch. You are a brave terrier and you will prevail! I have that same collar and leash, we could be twins. I had a big bump on top of my head last week, bee sting? Maybe, I smacked into a tree? It's all better now, but the folks still call me "knot head". Hmmmmm

We prefer to stay healthy!
ReplyDeleteWe're Terrier!
We are strong!
On a long and healthy life!

Oh dear! Poor Mitch! Hope it soon gets sorted. I don't know if it is of any use to you, but last summer Oscar had something very similar from your description, except that he was in a lot of pain on opening his mouth wide or biting down on his tennis ball. He would occasionally yelp and couldn't eat his kibble. He could eat soft food. He had x-rays and MRI scan and turns out he had some kind of infection in the angle of his jaw. He had a bulge on his head that appeared as a mass on X-ray and gave the effect of area around sinking in and his eye was just as poor old Mitch's. Nothing came from the scans really, but a second stronger course of antibiotics sorted it out. Hope he's better soon! Ros and Oscar xx
ReplyDeleteOh Mitch, what a horrible sounding condition. As long as you are living a comfortable, happy and fun life, everything is good. Chins up!!

Howdy Mitch, wowza mate, we've just read back a few posts and heard your news. We've never heard of this before but are glad you are feeling good and having fun and stuffs. We think you are very handsome too, and Mitch, I, Rory, will tell you a secret. The girlies are attracted even MORE to us fellas that are, well, unique in our own way. You know, a wonky walk, an unusual shape of the head, it makes us even more appealing!! Take care mate. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Mitch will be okay, and I totally agree about how handsome he is!!!! I read a little about MM, and I saw the word "idiopathic" - I hate that word because it means that they don't understand what causes it. I hope it just goes away, Mitch, and leaves you alone. We all love you no matter what, Mitch!
ReplyDeleteHello there Mitch,
ReplyDeleteWe may not be posting so much but we do try to stay updated with all of you. We are glad that you are doing well. Enjoy lots of play time and stay handsome as always.

Oh Mitch, we have not heard of this thingy... But, we are happy to hear that you are happy and not in pain.
ReplyDeleteStay well my furend!
Mitch, now I can go to bed and sleep happily, knowing your vet says you are going to be okay. Of course your humans will take you back if something seems strange on the other side of your head! The vet didn't need to tell them to do so.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy life and have fun. I know you won't worry, because dogs don't (lucky you!), but tell your mum not to worry either, if she can manage it.
Mitch, being happy and enjoying life is the best! I am sorry that you had to go through that, but now its time to chase Molly and play tennis ball. I will be right over.
ReplyDeleteLoveys Sasha
