This month, the Chewy influencers gave us an opportunity to try out the Easy Defense Flea and Tick Wipes and mom could not have been happier.
We are being honest here. For the past 2 years, I have been wearing the Seresto Flea and Tick collar. Mom never thought that I was having issues with it but for the past 2 years, my belly has been irritated with red spots and black spots and mom has had to apply apple cider vinegar and many topical sprays, gels and creams to try to keep it looking decent. My belly would FINALLY clear up at the end of the year in November, and go back to looking healthy. So at the beginning of this month, she put the Seresto collar on me, and I immediately started to scratch and itch and my belly immediately got tiny red spots. She took the collar off and started looking for something natural and with less chemicals than the Seresto collar has.
She discovered the Ofhuh collar at Amazon and read the reviews and decided this was the way we were going to go. Because it's new to me, she has been constantly checking me for ticks and to be honest, it's been cold here and our snow has just now disappeared so there are probably not too many ticks out and about yet.
So when Chewy offered the Easy Defense Flea and Tick wipes for both cats and dogs, mom jumped at it!
"Protect your precious pup from fleas, ticks
and mosquitoes the safe and effective way with the Only Natural Pet
EasyDefense Flea & Tick wipes for dogs and cats. Using the power of
natural Geranium and Peppermint plant extracts, these biodegradable
towelettes are completely free of pesticides and toxins, making them
safe for your furry friends, and sparing you from applying dangerous
chemicals. Scientifically tested and veterinarian approved botanicals
create an invisible barrier around your dog or cat—and the towelettes
make it easier than ever to protect your pet from pests. To humans and
pups, they carry a pleasant, soft scent, but the smell makes one thing
clear to fleas and ticks—they aren’t welcome on the back of your furry
friend. Keep them safe the natural way, with Only Natural Pets."
There are 40 wipes in the resealable package and they don't have an over-powering odor at all.
"Wipe the pre-moistened towelette on the pet's fur, including paws,
legs and stomach until damp. Massage the coat so product reaches skin.
Depending on the thickness, type, and length of fur more than one wipe
may be required to get the product through the entire coat. For dogs,
pay close attention to the lower back and chest regions and for cats
target the neck and head regions, as fleas tend to gather in these
areas. Avoid contact with the animal's nose, mouth, eyes and genitals.
Reapply every 2-3 days or as needed, before the animal goes outside or
just after bathing or swimming. Safe for daily use.
Important: EasyDefense Flea & Tick Wipes protect
against new fleas and will not eliminate an existing infestation. If
your pet currently has fleas, please use Only Natural Pet All-In-One
Flea Remedy to eliminate them prior to use. Sensitivities may occur when
using any flea & tick prevention program. If your pet shows signs
of irritation, bathe them with shampoo or a mild detergent, rinsing with
large amounts of water. Contact your veterinarian if adverse symptoms
continue or worsen."
So far, I have had no irritation.
Are we finally ready for walkies, mom?
Mom and I both feel that I'm now a VERY protected AireGirl from those nasty ticks and fleas and mosquitoes!
Thank you so much for letting us give these natural wipes a try, Miss Natalie and the Chewy team!
~We received Easy Defense Flea and Tick Wipes free of charge from Chewy.com in exchange for our honest review~
Love ya lots♥
Molly
We love you and your Mom for lots of things. Recipes, Flower Friday’s,and sharing photos that make us hungry! But also because you share your finds at Chewy.com! Without you we would still be running all over Richmond looking for bags of dog food small enough that they don’t go completely stale before I finish them!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU again!
What a wonderful invention...OMCs Molly the flea and tick preventatives have improved 87,000 % since we were owned by the mighty Mini Dachshund Toto.
ReplyDeleteThe only preventive was a flea collar and Brewer's yeast in the food.
Love your last photo

ReplyDeleteWhen my angel Jade was with me, she let me put a drop of Tea Tree Oil between her shoulders and at her tail 't' and it worked in the same way as a topical medical treatment, but without all the nasties. Get this though... in my garden, I grew many different varieties of pelargonium and geranium. Jade LOVED the peppermint-scented geranium and would roll like mad among the leaves. I didn't mind coz she smelled lovely after - but now I am thinking she knew something I didn't!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
That sounds like a good idea. I'm pretty lucky that I've only had a couple ticks on me in all my ten years (it's one good thing about our cold winters) without using any type of flea and tick prevention stuff.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a wonderful product, Molly. We hope it works well for you. We love finding new things from Chewy. Now we are so disappointed that the Influencer program is ending:(

They sound great. We're lucky that we don't really have fleas and ticks around here. Good luck, hope they keep you flea, tick and rash free for the warmer weather.
ReplyDeleteWe have to take care of our babies to make sure they are as healthy as they can be. Your mom is doing it right.
ReplyDeleteHave a woof woof day, Molly. My best to your smart mom. ♥
Fleas and ticks are such a tough problem. They are really bad here, so we need really good protection, and are afraid to not use something that lasts a long time. Lots of the topicals or pills are scary too. Wish ticks would just go away. Glad these work for you and keep your skin from going crazy.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting! We hadn't heard of them. Massaging down to our skin might be a challenge, given how thick our coats are, though. We'll be curious to hear how they work out for you!
ReplyDeleteCammie!
Hope it works, ticks are so nasty.
ReplyDeleteThank you for telling us about these wipes. We don't have a problem with fleas but we do worry about ticks when we go camping. Something that is all natural is great

What a cool product...We may have to let Arty give it a try!

We refuse to use nasty chemicals and pesticides, and your experience reminds of exactly why.
ReplyDeleteLuke wears an Easy Defense flea and tick tag on his collar. We do not have issues with fleas, but we do still see some ticks. So I also use natural sprays or wipes before we go for a walk. I may have to try these. We've used wipes in the past and they seem easier than the sprays.

You did a great review. We hope this new product works well for you.
ReplyDeleteWe got hit with fleas last summer for the first time ever. They were really hard to get rid of so now we have to suffer thru getting that stuff on our backs every month. Ugh!
