Nature Friday

We are joining Rosy today for Nature Friday.

We are still looking for anything interesting and colorful on our walks~
We discovered a downed branch with color~
 Moss on a rock.
 A chestnut that's still hanging around~
It's going to be a beautiful day but cold and blustery~
 Moss along the curb~
 A bike ride in January~
Mom and I are walking slightly later these days.  When we went for our walk on Tuesday morning, we saw a deer cross the street in the distance in front of us.  This happened in a wooded area - actually our favorite place to walk because it's so peaceful and quiet.  It was foggy that morning.   Not long after the deer crossed, a dark colored canine looking creature came out of the woods obviously following the deer.   Thank goodness we were still a distance away.    He saw us and ran back into the woods but  it really whigged mom out and she spun on her heels and said to me, "That's our walk for today, Molly!"   She told me that we had to start waiting a wee bit longer before heading out.

Don't worry, mom.   I got your back~
Happy Friday, everybuddy!

Love ya lots♥
Molly

  1. We just look for white and avoid yellow...both snow, of course. Looking for a big storm today. You still do have nice colors to find.

  2. love all the little peices of nature you sa... everything fits to a big one, right? and we agree with your mama... we do our big patroll now at noon and only a short one in the evening, but even that short patrol ends with damaged jackets, screaming mom's and dirty pants...

Molly, you excelled once more on the colour search!

Oh my - are there coyotes in your area? I hope it wasn't a feral dog - or worse, someone's pup escaped and 'having fun'... Mum made the right decision I think! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  5. We always look at the little things at our feet, like the moss, and lichen you found. Right now it looks like lots of those little things in our yard are going to be covered with snow by the end of the day.

  6. What a smart mom you have, Molly. That creature following the deer might want to eat you next!

  7. Jumpin' Catfish Molly that was way too close an encounter with real live nature. I agree with mom later is better....I think I can hear mom's heart beating after that.

Lovely photos and of course you are the #1 favorite

  9. We'd love to chase a deer. We're walking a bit later, too. But only to miss Max the gentle Greyhound that Dui likes to lunge at.

  10. It's sometimes hard to find color during the winter but you and your mom found lots, Molly. And I think you with your bright rose-colored collar are the brightest find! I also loved the moss and the branch with red berries. Tell your mom that you need to keep walking early so you can keep protecting the deer. Just think, if you hadn't been there, you might have seen a dead deer instead of a living one.

  14. We have been having deer jump our fence and in our yard in the morning hours. And we have seen one coyote which Lee is not happy about and they call this living in the city. But then we did take over their territory.

  15. You sure found lots of colorful things on your walks Molly. We're sure you would have protected your mom from that big dog (or coyote) but it's best to not even get close.

  16. We love how you find so many things in nature for us. The moss along the curb is such a pretty shade of green.

We don't get to walk much at this time of the year either. Mom gets too cold , and she worries about falling.

  18. Oh boys Molly! We gots the coyotes in droves here! They trot down the streets lookin' for all kinds of foods (unfortunately sometimes they find small pets, and that is so tragic), butts I saw one when Gpa took me for a walkie, and it turned and went the other way when it saw my Airedale butt! BOL!! Don't mess with a Dale...just sayin'
Butts I gets your Moms concern...it could do somethin' means ~ that is why Ma carries pepper spray with her, might not be a bad idea for your Moms to gets some too ;)

  19. I always worry that Luke and I will run into some wildlife I don't want to see when on our walks too, since we normally walk pretty early. So far, knock wood, we've only seen deer.
You probably saved those deer by scaring that guy away, so good job!

  21. What a great walk. We too would have been frightened seeing something like that! The most we come across on our walks are the farmer's cows who just stand and look at us from across the hedge. Treacle loves talking to the horses we see on our walk but that is all we don't have any other wild creatures!!! Stay safe. Hugs, Susie xx
