Mom decided that she wanted to make a Lentil Sausage Soup. She's never used orange lentils before and she thought it might be fun for a change.
She started with a bouillon base and added onion, celery, carrots and the sausage. We read that orange lentils don't take as long to cook as the other colors so they got added after the above ingredients were cooked.I love celery!
She added her favorite Mrs Dash seasonings, some parmesan cheese and an entire container of fresh spinach.

Did I mention that I love spinach!
The soup came out very yummy and orange lentils were actually creamy in the soup.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Lentil and sausage. Gail says that's a perfect combination.
ReplyDeleteMe, I'd be happy with just the sausage...
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
That soup looks delicious! My doggies never liked celery, for some reason. But they liked all kinds of other vegies. Joey dog would steal cabbage leaves and broccoli stalks from the compost. Silly boy. The girlie pups don't know what to do with vegies yet. But we'll keep trying.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines Day!
That soup sounds delicious sweet Molly! Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us!
ReplyDeleteI like celery too Molly!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines day.

ReplyDeleteLulu: "I haven't tried celery, but I like the crunchy bottoms of lettuce leaves, so I bet I would like them!"
I am happy your mom shares her food with you
ReplyDeleteMom makes regular lentil soup a lot and loves it. She tried the orange lentils once for a salad, but they kind of dissolved. Maybe she should try making soup with them.
ReplyDeleteYum. You had me at Spinach. Domino will save hers for you. She picks it out of her dish and leaves on the floor.
ReplyDeleteYour soup looks good! And simple we will try. Happy post heart day.
