Mom found a recipe that says this Chinese dinner tastes like the inside of an egg roll. We don't eat Chinese food often but she decided to give it a try and we did cut the recipe in half~
Low-Carb Crack Slaw
2 lbs. Ground beef or turkey
2 bags Cole Slaw Mix
4 Green Onion, chopped
3 tsp minced garlic
3 tbsp Soy Sauce
2 tbsp sesame oil
2 tsp red pepper flakes
2 tsp ground ginger
Cook Ground meat in pan as you normally would.
In separate pan, put sesame oil, soy sauce, chopped green onion and chopped garlic together and stir fry until tender. Then added the cabbage (cole slaw mix) , crushed red pepper and ground ginger and cooked until mostly tender, it still had a slight crunch to it.
Once that was done drained the excess fat off of the meat and added it to the pan with the rest of the ingredients and stirred. Did add a touch more soy sauce for flavor but not much. Low carb, moderate fat and moderate protein, perfect!
Oh Molly that looks and sounds delish! I'll be printing this out. Tomorrow I'll make out my grocery list with these ingredientsReplyDelete
Love you Lots Cecilia
I would love to try this. I love Chinese food and hubby and I have our favorite place to go for Chinese food. Tell mom thanks for giving us the recipe.ReplyDelete
Have a woof woof day, Miss Molly. My best to your mom. ♥
PS we love egg rollsReplyDelete
"Much better with the beef" sounds about right to me! (But Gail's not a fan of Chinese food so I doubt she'll be trying out this recipe anyway).ReplyDelete
Num! Mama says she has never tried this before and has put it on the list!ReplyDelete
Thanks for sharing, Molly!

I fear, this one I might give a miss, Molly - but that doesn't mean others and especially you shouldn't enjoy it fully! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

Mom likes to use slaw mix for 'stuff' too!
Lulu: "I have heard that you are supposed to just say no to crack but I think I would make an exception for crack slaw!"ReplyDelete
I'll have to try that, I'm doing a low carb diet, or trying to.ReplyDelete
