Tasty Tuesday

 Mom found a great recipe that sounded quick and easy and zucchini is in season so she made it!

It's Zucchini Soup with Cheese and Eggs and it's Mary Ann Esposito's (Ciao Italia) recipe.  This is the link if you want to watch her make it.  

Our zucchini never browned and hers didn't either if you watch her video.

Fifteen minutes later, soup is ready to eat!

Mom doesn't remember her Nonna ever making this soup but it sure is tasty!

I need a refill, mom!  This soup is delicious!

If you want to make it - hurry as fresh zucchini won't be available for a whole lot longer.

Saturday Walk on Monday

 We headed out on Saturday knowing that Sunday was going to be pouring rain and there would be no walkies.

We walked by some sort of Grasses~

We found the most beautifully serene scene~

We were very surprised to see Honeysuckle still blooming!

We also spotted these pretty yellow flowers that mom had no idea what they were~

On Sunday, mom finished this puzzle and started another one~

Nature Friday

 We are joining Sunny today for Nature Friday~~

What luck we had yesterday morning.  We saw three deer!  

Earlier this week, mom saw a huge deer in our back yard with the longest legs eating apples.   It didn't take her long to notice that he had antlers.   Mom didn't want to scare him away so no photos were taken.  She thought the one below might have been him but this one doesn't have antlers so - nope.

We saw mom and her fawn too~

The fawn is just so darn cute!

Walkies were going along fine.  We discovered this mushroom growing on this tree.

Two days later, this is what it looked like~

Mom looked it up and it's called Chicken of the Woods and it's edible. 

But of course, I was not allowed to take a bite~

We found wild white Asters~

We found purple ones too!

Wednesday morning, the unthinkable happened.   I grabbed a flattened road kill frog and mom told me to "drop it, Duke".   I decided not to listen and she had to pull the nasty icky thing out of my mouth and she was most unhappy with me and she made me wear the dreaded head collar~  

I promise never to grab road kill ever again, mom~

Mom remembers where she was 25 years ago.  She and Molly's dad and their first Airedale, Maggie, were just coming home from their morning walk.   They went into the workshop to start their day.  The radio was on and they couldn't believe what they were hearing. There is a TV in the workshop and they both stood there with their mouths open not believing the horrors they were watching.    It was an overwhelmingly tragic day that is unforgettable~

Weekend Walk on Monday

 This was our gorgeous sky on Saturday morning~

This family sure plants the strangest things in front of their mailbox.  Maybe they want you to help yourself.   Sadly, mom said "No, Duke".

We found beautiful Sweet Peas!

The Morning Glories are still blooming away~

The Sunflower is still looking a wee bit ragged from our last weekend walk~

Nature Friday

 We are joining Rosy and Sunny this week for Nature Friday~~

I got to wear my new red-orange harness!

The lavender flowers on the Butterfly bushes we passed are still blooming~

The Milkweed plant that we go by all the time has pods!

The same garden that has the Milkweed has a Sweet Coneflower in bloom.  Mom looked this one up and was so surprised to learn that it was not in the Chrysanthemum family~

In our backyard, the Black-eyed Susans are still blooming away~

Sunday Walk on Monday

 First off, we were sleeping with open windows on Saturday night and into Sunday morning.   Around 4am, mom woke up to her windchimes, hanging in the apple tree, going off.  She opened her eyes and noticed me sitting in front of the window and wondered why my paws weren't on the sill looking out.  We are pretty sure it was a deer eating our apples☺

I want to know if anyone has seen trees looking so silly?!

Mom thinks the Jewelweed flower is so pretty and she always seems to get a blurry photo but she was pretty lucky this time~

We walked by a beautiful white Hydrangea~

We saw chickens in a backyard~

The Mimosa trees have already bloomed here but mom can never go by one of these trees without thinking of her Nonna.   She had one in her yard and she always said that it was a "dirty tree".  She said that about Weeping Willows too.
