Not Enough Feet

Guess what mom did on her anniversary on Wednesday?
It wasn't exactly a romantic dinner for two!

She cleaned the hallway closet underneath the stairs!

Do you see all of these pairs of shoes?
The only ones in this closet that belong to mom are the boots. The rest of them all belong to my dad!
He only has 2 feet! Do you think maybe he's over-doing it a wee bit? Mom does!
You all know that our dad had a heart transplant 5 years ago. He got a woman's heart!
All of these Dansko's have come after his transplant!
Nuff said.

This is the stairway that leads down to our basement. We cropped it so no one would have nightmares!
These are all dad's work boots and work shoes.
And he still owns sneakers and there are shoes out in his workshop that he hides from mom so she doesn't know that he has 64 pairs of Dansko's. And don't forget the pair that he currently has on his feet! Do your dads all have this many pairs of shoes?
Yes, our mom owns shoes but it's not even one quarter of the size of dad's collection!

Mom swept down the walls and washed and waxed the floor inside the closet and put all of the shoes back nice and neat!

Here's the best part - dad agreed to get rid of FIVE pair of shoes, which made mom very happy - no Dansko's though!
Some of you asked to see a current picture of mom and dad together after 37 years of marriage.
The most current one we have is our sissy's wedding in June 2007!
So until next time...............

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

  2. Holy Moly! Our mom doesn't have nearly that many shoes! Okay, she used to when she got dressed up to go to work everyday. A few years ago, she tried to wear a pair of her old platform shoes and nearly killed herself!

Now, we know what happens when a man gets a transplanted heart from a woman. Is he better at decorating, now, too? Heeheehee!

That's a great picture of your pawrents with your sissie!

  3. Oh your dad looks quite dashing in that photo. Of course everybody looks good at a wedding, right?

The whole shoe thing is a bit worrisome. Maybe your mom should mark them somehow so she can figure out which ones he really wears. It would be curious to discover that out of 475 pairs of shoes he only wears two or three (that is what my momma does).

    Mango

P.S. Have you seen the movie Tell Tale? It is kind of violent, but it is a heart transplant story. Might explain the shoes.

  4. Our Dad is the same way with ties - he can never have too many.

  6. OMD! Is he related to I-melted Marcos?

A woman's heart hunh? Well it could be a lot worse if you get my drift? So be happy it's just shoes!

Beautiful picture and what a gorgeous family!

    Luv ya,
    Riley and Star.

  7. Your Dad has enough shoes to rival Imelda Marcos:) Your Mom did a great job cleaning, but maybe it is time for her to have fun and go shopping for some more shoes for her. What a beautiful photo of Mom and Dad and sissy on a happy day!!!

  8. hi m & m!
    oh what a cute post!
your dad had good taste in shoes!
emmitt says he would have a collection of cookies like the shoe collection if he did not eat them as soon as he got them.

please tell your dad, he will keep trying to let two cookies pile up so he can have a neat collection too!

  9. We know this from experience: shoes, ties, shirts -- they all seem to multiply over night when no one is looking. Your dad's shoes do look really comfortable. And as long as he's not going for the nine-inch stilettos, we wouldn't worry.

We're just tickled to know that your humans are together and happy -- and loved to see them all spiffed up in the photo. What about a family portrait with all four of you?

    Wirey love,

    Jake and Just Harry

  10. Does he wear them all? Our Mom collects shoes, too, but sometimes she puts them in the closet and doesn't wear them. She finds a pair that's comfy and wears them all the time.

  11. Oh, I'm sorry, but this is the best post I've ever read!!!
Not that I'm siding with Dad, but Dansko does make great shoes...and may I be so bold as to say....if you're still kickin' after a heart transplant, you get to have as many pairs of shoes as you want! :-)
But the most important part is: the more shoes there are around a house, the more available for chewing!

And what a beautiful picture-you guys are the greatest!
    Lots of love from Bocci

  12. Hey...my dad doesn't collect shoes, but he collects ties, and guitars, and banjos....oh yeah, and books! Muzzer says she is just glad he doesn't collect "other women."

  13. Has she checked his undie drawer? If the unmentionables are frilly or silky, we may have the answer. Is he carrying man-purses too?
The Mr. laffed out loud when he read this...he has like 4 pairs of shoes, not counting the crappy running shoes in the garage. He had to ask HER what Dansko's were...she said , "Those are the shoes Susie wears all the time...you know, comfy girly shoes." She didn't even know they made them for guys. Rather humbling for herself who claims to know everything.

Anyways, I think yer Mom needs to go shopping fer sure.

The photo of yer peeps is very handsome. Congratulations on 37 years and we hope they have many many more. And yer hall closet is amazing! SHE is most jelly as she has been cleaning and tossing stuff and packing stuff up to give away and she's not found the bottom of ANY closet yet.

    soft woofie kisses,
    Bonnie

  14. OHMIDOG! I LUVS shoes! Especially tennis shoes cuz they're the most smelliest. I also likes the most expensive shoes mom and dad have. I have good taste. I don't know why humans wear 'em on their feet since they're so tasty.

I luvs the picture of your mom and dad and sissy. They are all very bee-you-ti-ful and look all smiley and stuff.

  15. I have to admit that BB and I are rather the shoe hounds in our family -- SB (my hub and BB's dad) has only a few pairs. Sammy, however, has quite a taste for shoes......
Thanks for the pic -- what a handsome family you are!

  26. Makes sense. Of course your parents don't have any photos of themselves since they're just photographing you all the time. As for your dads shoes being blamed on the transplant, you sent our M ROFL and us BOL and we're loud. Thanks for a hearty laughter.

  30. Oooh Haaa!!That was a very funny post M & M's. Mom was whooping and hollering with joy that another Mom has to suffer living with a man who has more shoes than her!!!!Yep I reckon Daddy Squares collection could rival your Dad's for sure. He bought the same shoes style in 3 colours the other week ..green...purple...red. Then was wondering if he should wear one red and one purple ..etc.. NOOOOOOOOO. See what we suffer? He has it BAAAAAAD. Mom and I might sneak off and count his shoes to tell you. If we could get past the jackets, coats, shirts....

Mom says the photo of your parents and your sissy is lovely. All of you are blessed with the handsome and beautiful wand.

    Wiry loves Eric xx

  33. This is the reason
If you have that many shoes- then you are assured that your feet are happy and he can do all that work around your spread- like work in the barn and all.
And sometimes like humans say- someone wears a lot of hats- well he wears a lot of shoes.
    My mommy hides stuff too.
Your parents are beautiful peoples and I can tell the woman who gave her heart was a beautiful person too- cause I think she wore a lot of shoes.

  44. Wow! That is a LOT of shoes. In our house Papa definitely has more pairs of shoes than Mama - in fact he keeps pestering her to buy some.
