The Blizzard of 2010

It started snowing at our house yesterday just before noon and by dinnertime the winds were really whipping up a storm!  All night long the snow fell and the winds blew - so much so that we honestly thought the windows were going to blow right into our house and land on top of us!  This morning it was still snowing and still whipping away!

This is the front of our house. You can see just by the louvers on the shutters how whippy it really was!
Dad says we got about 16 inches.  In some parts of our yard, the snow is up to our tummies and in other parts of the yard, we can see the grass - makes it easier to do business, right?
Dauby and the duckies deserve a medal for what they had to put up with in the last 24 hours!
But is white and it's cold and it's just beautiful!

It's a very heavy snow and it packs up in our feet and we both lift up our paws so that mom can brush it away.
Time to go back inside and warm up, Mitch.
We'll come out again later!

So until next time..............

Love ya lots
Maggie and Mitch

  6. I'm always amazed by birds. They seem so delicate, yet they can withstand such icy temperatures and go swimming in icy waters.

  10. I was thinking that you were probably getting quite a bit of snow - and I guess I was right! Does the swan and duckies have somewhere to go to get out of the weather - like a barn or something? Sigh, I wish I had some snow, we are going for temps in the 60's on Wednesday.

  17. YAY! Finally some snow zoomies for you! After we've been outside for a while, we get snow in our pads and when we come inside Mom says it sounds like we are wearing tap shoes! We then spend the next 30 minutes licking our feet dry! Enjoy your snow!

  20. So that's what people mean when they say "White Christmas". I always thought it meant you got lots of plushies to make snow with.

Merry Christmas, you two! I saw a poster on the vet's wall yesterday, and I'll be putting up a pic that reminded me of you two soon!

Praying that winter will be kind this year, worldwide. We have news here that it hit real hard in Europe and US. I hope I need not clear the snow a lot this year.

But snow is the sky on earth for Airedale! I love the snow and then become also the Blizzard.
Nice your home looks in the snow.

We have 40 cm of snow and it gets cold very much. To-4°F. Hoover cannot run in the snow any more.

  32. Hi Maggie & Mitch,
You're so lucky to have snow in your garden ... Here in South of France it rarely happens, except last year cause winter was very cold ... Usually I only get a chance to see play with snow when I get to the mountains.
Hope you have a great time, beautiful pictures ...

We got a lot here...up to my shoulders, and I had fun blazing trails through Grandma's back yard. The bad part is the feet cleaning in the bathtub afterwards.
