Mom and dad have started another project so we're supervisors on the job again. Our red barn needs a new roof. Dad is ripping wood shingles off and mom is on the ground picking them up as fast as they come down.
I made sure that I had a beef marrow bone to pass the time.
And Molly got a frozen wash cloth for her teething toofers. Once again, she's acting like a spazzzzz~
She got a marrow bone too but it's an older one with no marrow in it. Sorry, Molly.
We have sad news. This is Gussie. His Black Swan's wife was Myrtle and she is no longer with us. Myrtle was very friendly and when anyone came near her, she would stretch her neck out along the ground and give you a swanny hello and welcome you to her yard.
We think she welcomed a coyote or a fox and her ending wasn't a pretty one. Gussie misses her but he does well hanging with the rest of the waterfowl flock. No, we will not be replacing Myrtle.
It's a horrible tragedy for such a beautiful creature. RIP, Myrtle.
Mom and dad Canada Goose had goslings. One of the parents was born here and they come back to nest and raise their young every year. Dad says he knows it's the same goose by the band on his/her leg.
Mom's smaller wisteria is in bloom - the one that didn't get damage by the storms that we had this winter.
Lookin' good, dad!
We're off to till the garden and plant some tomatoes!
So until next time..........
Love ya lots,
Mitch and Molly

We are sorry about Myrtle! We hope she is resting at the RB along with the baby bunny that our mom had to bury last week. Somedoggies played with it and by the time Mom rescued it, it died in her hand. Very sad!

Hi Mitch, we're sorry to learn about Gussie. It looks like a big job. Your dad sure is a one-man crew. Up here, you'd likely see 2 or 3 men up there removing the shingles. At this rate, he'll have the roof finished by 3 PM tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteOh Poor Gussie... Since Swans mate fur LIFE he is really gonna miss his beloved Myrtle. Sooooo sorry to hear this.
ReplyDeleteI love the frozen washcloth thingy fur Molly. I am sure it feels good to her teefs.
We're sorry about your goose friend. We hope her partner makes new friends with the other birds.
ReplyDeletePoor Molly, those teeth hurt a lot and you just want to chew on everything. It's hard being a puppy, there's so much to learn.

ReplyDeleteBrave Dad being up so high and brave Mom standing underneath:)
ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry to hear about Myrtle. But life goes on with the little goslings. We have a lot of trouble here with coyotes snatching small dogs that are out on invisible fence - so sad.

Looking very good Dad!! Your Dad is so cool, even with the transplant, he is doing all kinds of stuff. My Daddy had a kidney transplant and still works but can't do as much stuff as he used to. I am glad you had a bone to keep you busy and poor Molly with her toofies.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about Myrtle, that is very sad.

Hi Mitch and Molly, sorry to hear about your friend Myrtle. Is it true Swans mate for life and if so what happens, do they find another mate? (just curious). Looks like a beautiful day with your mum and dad. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeleteMolly certainly is getting the hang of things....she is so cute! Mitch you are teaching her everything so well. Don't work too hard....take time to have fun too! Great pics!
ReplyDeleteThat's so sad about Myrtle -- for a Black Swan, losing his mate is a serious tragedy. But then there are the Canadian geese goslings to tilt the scale.
ReplyDeleteYou've all been very busy -- and Molly has joined in the fun with her frozen washcloth!
Wirey love,
Jake and Just Harry
That roof is looking good! We're so sorry to hear about Myrtle.:( Oh my, the goslings are too cute!:)

Poor Gussie, that was a horrible thing to discover :-(
ReplyDeleteWE hope the dishcloth helped little Molly, puppy teeth are like needles!
Molly, Taffy, Monty and Winnie
Oh! So sad to hear about Myrtle! How horrible! And I suppose since swans pair for life, Gussie won't be taking a new wife??
ReplyDeleteAnd how lucky to have the geese come back every year to raise their goslings! That is so special! :-)
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
Your pups are so cute! They look like stuffed toys ;) And, sorry to hear about Myrtle :( She’s in a better place now. On the other hand, wood shingles are very easy to install. They are lightweight and are made of simple materials. Just a heads up: Now that your barn’s roof is now at a new start, it’s proper that you check up on it every week or once a month. It’s to check if there are debris that would degrade your roof, or if there are any damaged shingles.
