Mom normally eats a cheeseburger but dad surprised her with soft shell crab. Dad thinks it looks like a huge fat spider but mom loves it and was thrilled. She hasn't had soft shell crab in quite awhile!
Yes please! Can you dip it in the ketchup for me too?!
We do love our french fries!
And for dessert, we decided to take mom to Wentworth's for ice cream!
Here comes dad. I'm already starting to drool!
Mom told dad to surprise her with any flavor other than rum raisin or maple walnut. She's not fond of either of those two flavors. Dad chose toasted coconut! yummmmmmm
Hey, that was supposed to be my spoonful, Molly! You're not playing fair!
Thank you, mom.
Dad chose lemon ice for himself and mom burst out laughing. You all know that it was not only mom's birthday but angel Maggie's too. Maggie hated lemons! haha Just the sight of a lemon was hugely distasteful to her and she would turn her back on you and walk away.
Dad is offering us some of his lemon ice. Wipe the grin off your face, Molly! Molly is a garbage can. That girl will eat anything!
I have never hated lemons. If you offer me one, I'll gladly accept it but mom pretty much only teases us with them. She thinks that the lemon acid can't really be great for our teeth. This is good stuffs, dad, and it's ice cold!
Mom loved her birthday dinner and said it was one of the best ones she's ever had and the bestest company to enjoy it with.
She wants to thank each and every one of you for the birthday wishes for both her and for angel Maggie. Thank you so very much!
And when we got home, flowers had been delivered and they were sitting on our back porch.
They were from Miss Kate and Mr Ted and their twinsie boys and Putter. They smell sooooooooo beautiful and they are just gorgeous! Thank you - thank you!
Guess what? This is post number 1699 for us. The next post we publish is 1700. How cool is that!

Happy Birthday, looks like you had a wonderful day. Family dinner and gifts from friends how awesome. I'm sure Maggie had a great day too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful dinner. Our Mom loves soft shell crab, too. She used to eat them all the time when she lived at the beach. Dad thinks they look like spiders and he's scared of spiders. When he sees one in the house, he calls Mom to come get it.
ReplyDeleteMom TRIED to eat one of them once -
ReplyDeleteShe got it at market -
Did it in the pan - it was akhtually HERE when she was a younger pup and before the kitchen was renovated -
AND she just khouldn't eat it -
The little legs just freaked her out!
We are smiling about the lemons!
